Sports Illustrated has written an article and Dusty and Danny talked about it this morning on SXM College Sports Radio (Ch. 84). The OU loss is probably helping this along, but the only scenario where I see him leaving is if he loses to Auburn and the Bama administration sees it as a good chance to unload him without paying his buyout. However, in this new CFB environment, nothing surprises me.

SEC Coach Climbing the List of Favorites for Penn State Job

Penn State is in the second month of its search to replace James Franklin, who has moved on to Virginia Tech.

It might be a better cultural fit tbh. I've heard that the focus was on Chesney from James Madison, but then I've also heard they were interested in Brian Hartline. Honestly, I'm ready for this silly season to come to an end. It's gotten to the point where it feels like stalking, with family members being tracked visiting their kids on campus. Potential houses going on, or off the market. Tracking planes, trains, or automobiles like some weirdos.

Gat, looking at the photo, I understand why you moved to Arizona. You must have been living in northern Florida, right?😁

(Great movie; one of John Candy's best.)

UCLA is supposedly close to doing a deal with Chesney. But having coached at Holy Cross and now JMU, would he be a fit on the West Coast? Everyone's looking for the next Cignetti. Chesney needs another 14 years of seasoning.

With Jimmy Sexton as his agent, the agent ADs most love to hate, DeBoer will be shopped. Among many others, Sexton represents Saint Nick and James Franklin, and drum roll, Lane Kiffin.

If nothing else, there will be a daily carousel of coaching rumors.

Eli ain't coming!

Congrats, coach, on this, and also your scathing comments directed at the Playoff Committee and the selection process.

Search and you will find Eli taking a flamethrower to the entire selection process, including the stupidity of having rankings reveals before the final ranking. This take is probably not bouncing too high in Bristol. 😁

With 9 conference games next season, I think SEC coaches might join Eli and switch to being in favor of the B1G's 16-team, AQ playoff format, including playing the champ game in the final weekend of the regular season.

More central, but close Jon. I don't claim Miami or Tallahassee ( even if I did attend college at the latter).

John Candy is a very underrated comedic genius imo. I enjoyed his subtle facial expressions over Sam Kinnison, or Chris Farley.

Like John, I think a more subtle personality like DeBoer would thrive at Penn State. They have high expectations, but it's not at the fevered pitch of an SEC madhouse like Tuscaloosa. Seriously, people want him on the hot seat after losing to Oklahoma. They think it's a given that whoever is the coach at Alabama, should win a title every other year. They tend to forget what life was like before Saban.

Just like LSU folks tend to forget that before Saban won a title in '03(split with USC) that they hadn't ever won a legitimate National Title.

The SEC tends to live in a tiny bubble. They refuse to see that the perceived superiority is nothing but an ESPN illusion. There's a reason why Lane Kiffin isn't signing an extension like Cignetti or Elko. Ole Miss is running at it's optimum. It's not sustainable. They don't have the real money, or resources to maintain the level they are at. Eventually the transfer cushion will deflate, and Ole Miss will fall back on their thirty first rated classes.

At LSU, you have a situation involving all matters of madness. At Florida, there isn't a school president currently, and many top boosters want Stricklin gone. I personally would sign a LeBron James deal if I were Lane. But he's likely looking at this as his moment to be the top name. Next year his team could lose five games and he's an afterthought.
