Jon Joseph Moderator No. 1 Share Posted January 25, 2022 1. USC - With 12 commits SC has moved past LSU to the top of the most recent ranking. Still waiting on Caleb Williams. If Williams doesn't commit to SC could Dart come back? Dart recently visited Ole Miss. 12 UCLA - 6 commits 14 Arizona - 7 commits 22 ASU - 8 commits 32 Washington State - 4 commits - QB Cam Ward from Incarnate Word is the big get here. IW's HC is also coming to Pullman as the new OC. 41 CAL - 3 commits 47 OREGON - 3 commits Glad that 247 has come up with the transfer rankings. In this day and age of the transfer portal it's nice to get an idea of the teams doing well out of the portal. Riley is at least skill position wise, materially changing the Trojans roster. If Riley lands Williams or Dart comes back and SC will be a tough out in 2022. One of the 12 SC commits does include an OT from UVA who was second team All ACC. I'm surprised that Utah, picking up a LB from Florida who was the Gators top tackler in 2021 and 2 TEs from Idaho and Syracuse, is not in the top 50. Burmeister has transferred from VA Tech to San Diego State.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted January 25, 2022 Hey Jon, THANKS for bringing that to us. Now when will the day come when a Consolidated ranking will occur...where both HS recruits AND Portal transfers are taken into account? Wouldn't you have to have a handicapping element for those who transferred out? (We would get quite a hit that would make anyone DYE) 2 Mr. FishDuck
Jon Joseph Author Moderator No. 3 Share Posted January 25, 2022 The rankings that do the best at ranking recruits and transfers is the 247 Roster rankings? But spot on. I know of no outlet adding recruits and transfers together to value a new incoming class. Oregon signs Broussard and the Ducks will move up. A 2nd year player and highly ranked recruit from Nebraska just entered the portal One of the new Ducks assistants was the lead recruiter at Nebraska for this kid's services. Duck 1972 No. 4 Share Posted January 25, 2022 Jon how are they ranking these guys? On what criteria? And does it seem like how many players you get is a factor in how high is your ranking? And what does that do for team chemistry?

Ranking is based on both quantity and quality. 247 has a raking of the players in the portal and uses this ranking as well as the number of commits signed. Both USC and No.2 LSU have signed a lot of guys, 12 and 11 respectively, and most of these guys were highly rated in the portal. IMO, one place the ranking somewhat misses on is 'need.' Bama is down a bunch of wide receivers in 2022 and just signed the #4 ranker player out of the portal, a WR from Georgia. Like signing LB To'o To'o out of LSU last season this signing not only helps Bama but hurts in-conference member Georgia. I hate to bring it up but kind of like Dye signing with USC?
Duck 1972 No. 6 Share Posted January 26, 2022 (edited) At USC with Ingram and transfer from Stan. Jones and dye, question who starts? Agreed need should be factored in. Every 1 of ours was a need and probably starters. With Gonzalez from Co and Taimani from WA were 1 up on taking instead of losing. If as also reported Broussard CO comes that's 3 to 1. Jon Joseph Author Moderator No. 7 Share Posted January 28, 2022 It's not just the players it's the coaches too. Mike McDonald who did such a great job turning Michigan's D around this season after 1 year of being the DC at Michigan is retuning to Baltimore to be the DC of the Ravens. Perhaps he knows something regarding Harbaugh to the Raiders? Perhaps he found out he hates recruiting? He is getting more $ but not all that much. Hard to beef about kids transferring when coaches move around all the time. SEE: Slick, Mario, Riley, Brian Kelly and the assistants they brought with.
