Diamond Ducks Lose to Beavers 4-0, Swept by OSU

Stoffal continues to pitch.  Jace falls behind 3-0 and has to come in with a fat pitch that gets tattooed into right field for a single. The runner promptly steals second base.

 

Next batter flies out to shallow right/center field. No advancement by the base runner.

 

Stoffal again falls into a 3-0 hole, and walks on a 3-2 count. Beavers at second and first base with one out.

 

The second out comes on a swinging strike out.

 

Another walk is issued to load the bases.

 

Fortunately a foul ball pop out ends the inning.

Caleb Sloan in to replace Jace Stoffal at pitcher for Ducks.

 

Drew Cowley can't handle a hard shot to third base that is ruled a fielding error to put the lead off batter at first base.

 

Josh Kasevich catches a line drive at shortstop, but can't double the runner back at first base.

 

A long blast over the stands in right field brings in two more runs for OSU.

 

Gavin Grant makes a nice fielding play on a ground ball to second base to throw out the batter at first base.

 

Sloan gets the next batter looking a called third strike.

Beavers bring in a new pitcher to face Tanner Smith. Tanner lines a single into right field.

 

Drew Cowley hit a ground ball to the second baseman that is turned into a double play.

 

A called third strike to Brennan Milone ends the top of the sixth inning for Oregon.

Caleb Sloan works his second inning on the mound. And the lead off batter is awarded first base when hit by a pitch.

 

Coach Jake Angier visits the mound and calls Logan Mercado out of the bull pen.

 

A sacrifice bunt to first base moves the runner to second base.

 

Logan gets the second out on a called third strike.

 

The third out comes on a swinging third strike.

Anthony Hall is thrown out at first base on a hit that ricocheted off the first baseman's glove to the second baseman who throws to the pitcher covering first base.

 

A pop out by Josh Kasevich to second base brings the second out.

 

The third out comes on a ground ball by Jacob Walsh to second base.

Ducks bring in Andrew Mosiello to pitch against Jacob Melton who is 3 for 3 today with a home run, and he pops out to second base.

New pitcher for OSU facing Colby Shade. Colby quickly falls behind 0-2 before striking out swinging at a 1-2 pitch.

 

Tyler Ganus pinch hits for Jack Scanlon. Ganus falls behind 0-2 and eventually also strikes out swinging.

 

Gavin Grant falls behind 0-2 then flies out to right field.

Bennett Thompson in at catcher for the Ducks. Andrew Mosiello continues to pitch. A ground ball to third base brings the first out.

Ouch we just have to get better pitchers (I know our top 2 are out from injuries. Although while typing this the thought also came we only scored on them in game 2. Can't win if u can't score.

"Good pitching beats good hitting", but when you have both good pitching and good hitting............look out!

 

Beavers will probably be ranked #1 in the nation tomorrow.
