Posted August 9, 20222 yr Moderator With the Big 10, Fox Sports tier 1 rights (500 million) NBC 2nd position (380 million), CBS 3rd position (350 million), ESPN out. Interesting read on this situation and about Fox Sports sitting in on the Big 10 negotiation meeting with the other networks. Unusual and uncomfortable. August 9, 20222 yr Negotiations are about to actually mean something. A few weeks ago I used the football analogy that we were all just sitting in a tie game and both sides were happy to punt. Well now it looks like someone is going to have to make a move and put forth some real effort. Early stages in negotiations always feel pointless because there is no pressure to get anything done. Well now the pressure is mounting and we get to see where it goes. Conference expansion talk will heat up but there will be something more real behind it now and the survival of the PAC is in play.
August 9, 20222 yr Wow. CBS paying more for tier 3 BIG rights than ESPN offered for Tier 1 PAC rights? yikes.
August 9, 20222 yr Maybe, now, the ACC would like to have a bonus pay package to their media contract with the PAC playing designated crossover games. Clemson/Oregon, UW/UM, and who wouldn't like a little FSU in the mix as well? What kind of monetary payout could we reasonably get with an additional 2/4/6 team contributing to the PAC? SDSU, TT, Houston, Baylor, and maybe BYU? Could we get to $45-$50 million per school? I would think that we could really add value if we could loosely align with the ACC and add major market schools. Let the realignments continue!!
