Christian Gonzalez returns to Boulder and his collegiate beginnings

Christian Gonzalez knew it was time to abandon the ship.

In his two years playing for Colorado, the Buffaloes were 8-10 and many of his teammates were transferring.

It made perfect sense for him to end his tenure as a Buff. Click on URL below to view article:

Running backs accounting for biggest share of Oregon Ducks’ receiving yards since 2012

The Oregon Ducks are relying on running backs for a greater portion of their receiving yards than at any

point in the last decade with an exception of the shortened 2020 season.

“(Offensive coordinator Kenny) Dillingham loves using the backs out of the backfield and we have some

guys that can run the ball and get out of the backfield,” quarterback Bo Nix said.

Bucky Irving, Sean Dollars, Noah Whittington, Byron Cardwell Jr. and Jordan James have combined for 45 catches for 476 of No. 8 Oregon’s 192 receptions for 2,320 receiving yards this season, a 20.52% share of yards entering Saturday’s game (12:30 p.m., ESPN) at Colorado.

The Ducks head to Colorado for the first time since 2015

t's been a rough year in Boulder. After all the team fired Karl Dorrell around the halfway mark and sits at the

bottom of the conference with a 1-7 overall record, mustering just one win over the aforementioned Cal Golden Bears.

CU football notes: Former Buffs star Christian Gonzalez making return to Boulder

For two years, Colorado receiver Daniel Arias battled Christian Gonzalez in practice and they got to know each other well.

On Saturday, they’ll see each other again when the Buffaloes host No. 8 Oregon at Folsom Field.

Gonzalez, meanwhile, told Oregon reporters he’s treating this as a business trip and that

he won’t have any sentimental feelings in his return to Boulder.

Lanning names a few players who may need to step up due to Cota injury

Lanning named sophomores Dont'e Thornton and Josh Delgado as two players who

could see a step up in playing opportunity should Cota be unavailable.

He also praised the way Kris Hutson performed playing on the outside in Cota's place

rather than at his primary position of slot receiver.

Expect a tough fight - early.  Colorado's over-matched, no doubt about it.  The betting line has Oregon -31.5 with an O/U of 63 so O is expected to score a lot of points while giving up few, say 45-14-ish.  They're 1-7.

2-time Super Bowl champ Booger McFarland had a great quote tonight on Sports Center when he said "It's a poor dog who won't fight in his own backyard."  I expect the Buffalos will make it a fight.  The high mountain air in Boulder and the long flight out will take its toll.

But O should roll because I believe Oregon has a coach who has this team totally focused on winning; both at the line of scrimmage and in the open field with talent at all positions.  But nothing in the Pac-12 is automatic.  GO DUCKS!

Football: Colorado Buffs embracing opportunity vs. No. 8 Oregon

Playing hard hasn’t been an issue for the Buffaloes since Mike Sanford took over as interim head coach on Oct. 2.

That has produced just one win in three games, however, and the schedule gets significantly tougher down the stretch.

To the credit of the players, they’ve remained optimistic throughout a difficult season, so it’s no surprise

they head into a challenging November with that optimism somewhat intact.

'Uncommon' depth has Oregon tight end group in rare company

The Ducks have four different tight ends who have scored a touchdown this season. The group has 10 total touchdowns

through the first eight games. Oregon is one of only two teams in the country that can say either.

It’s hard to argue that many other teams have more quality depth in the tight end room than what Oregon has.

SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM

Oregon's tight end room is in rare company because of its production through the first eight games.

Scouting the Opponent: Few bright spots emerge for struggling Colorado team

Getting stops on defense has been the Buffs’ kryptonite this season.

Oregon’s offense, on the other hand, can't be stopped.

Colorado has failed to hold teams to less than 40 points in all but two games this year.

Stopping Bo Nix and the top-10 scoring Ducks will be another tough ask for interim coach Mike Sanford.

Oregon and Colorado are teams headed in different directions leading the Ducks to be a heavy favorite Saturday.
