Oregon Football 2024 Recruiting Hot Board: EDGE

If you watched Oregon's defense in 2022 it didn't take long to notice a recurring theme. The Ducks couldn't get after the quarterback, totaling just 18 sacks on the year and getting shredded through the air.

Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi signed a number of talented edge rushers in the 2023 recruiting class to try and fix that problem including Matayo Uiagalelei, Blake Purchase and Teitum Tuioti. They also added highly-coveted South Carolina transfer Jordan Burch from the transfer portal.

Now we're taking a look at the top EDGE targets for Oregon in the 2024 recruiting class.

Read who the Edge targets are in this Max Torres article from Ducks Digest.

Oregon Picks up New Prediction to Land 2024 Quarterback

The Ducks are looking for their quarterback in the 2024 class and may be picking up steam with one of their recent offers.

Schools across the country are landing their quarterbacks of the future. For Oregon and Will Stein, there's no shortage of passers they're pursuing, but they may be pulling ahead for one arm out west.

On Tuesday, ScoopDuck's Justin Hopkins logged a prediction for Oregon to land 2024 Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga.

Moga stands at 6'2" and weighs 190 pounds. He landed an offer from the Ducks in January following a trip to Eugene and has been scorching on the recruiting trail of late, hauling in offers from Michigan State, Utah, Miami and TCU among his 25 total offers.

Oregon Leaves Another 'Great Impression' on WR Malachi Durant

The Ducks could be surging with the top wide receiver out of Washington in 2024.

Malachi Durant is a top target for Oregon in the 2024 class and the Graham (Wash.) Graham-Kapowsin wide receiver made a return trip to Oregon this week.

"They left a great impression," Durant said of the trip. "They showed me a bunch of stuff I haven't seen before. I got to talk with Dan Lanning. That was a great experience."

Lanning has been a hit with recruits since the day he was hired but this trip gave the 6-foot-1 wideout a chance to get closer with the Oregon head coach.

"He's a great guy. I really got to get to know him a lot more this trip. I got to sit in the meetings, watch how he ran practice and watch how he sets up practice and all that."

Brandon Baker becomes latest 5-star to announce Oregon visit for Ducks spring game

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks continue to build what is becoming one of the most impressive recruiting visit lists we’ve ever seen in Eugene for the annual spring game at the end of April.

The latest player to join the mix is 5-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker, a player who has been incredibly high on the Ducks over the past year. Baker is rated by 247Sports as the No. 23 player in the 2024 class, and No. 1 overall tackle.

Baker is now the sixth 5-star player to schedule a visit for Oregon’s spring game, joining QB Dylan Raiola, S K.J. Bolden, EDGE Elijah Rushing, EDGE Collin Simmons, and S Xavier Filsaime.

Speedster Gary Bryant Jr. Could Be Difference-Maker for Oregon

New Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein has been open about his offense and his ability to spread the ball around amongst multiple receivers in it. That’s been a very attractive selling point to wide receivers since his arrival.

One of the key components on offense is speed. Speed in the backfield, speed at receiver. While Oregon has worked on adding that element, there is still plenty of room for more additions.

For Oregon, one of those answers is former USC wide receiver Gary Bryant. The Ducks have made Bryant a priority in this recruiting cycle which has resulted in an official visit and remaining a favorite as he enters decision time.

But why would Bryant be a good fit at Oregon?

One of the top remaining transfers, wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. could be a huge difference-maker in this Oregon offense.

Oregon a School Standing out for OL Eugene Brooks

Brooks has stacked 16 reported scholarship offers as he heads into his senior season, but he's hearing the most from three schools.

"USC, Oregon and Texas," Brooks said of who's recruiting him hardest.

"It's been great," he said about Oregon's communication. "The O-line coach left so they got a new O-line. I'm building a relationship with him. It's a great relationship right now."

Brooks doesn't have a date locked in for an Oregon visit but is planning to get out to Eugene.

One of the coaches he's spoken with most at Oregon is new offensive line coach A'lique Terry.

"Just building that relationship up with him," he said. "Getting the flow right. Having great talks."

The Ducks have recruited Sierra Canyon before and have someone on the inside that's been in Brooks' ear.

"One of our former players from Sierra Canyon Mike Woot (Michael Wooten), he just went out there. It's a great program. He tells me it's great for him and O-line, it's just O-line territory. That's just how it is, it's great."

War Daddy Recruit: Speed demon Gatlin Bair is a 'homegrown Idaho unicorn' coveted far and wide

RARE Academy founder and coach with 208 Platinum Premier 7v7, Juss Jackson, first talked about Bair when he was a freshman, saying to keep an eye on the speedster.

A year later, Bair was shining on the 7v7 circuit for Jackson and Williams-Rhodes and then earned WR MVP honors at the Gem State Showcase last summer in front of a slew of coaches.

"Gatlin has the length you want, the speed, hands and the football IQ and sense for the game that you don’t normally find in Idaho," Jackson said.

WHY GATLIN BAIR IS A NAME TO KNOW IN 2024

Speed kills.

And Bair has plenty of it.

The highest-rated prospect to ever come from the state of Idaho, out of tiny Burley (population: 12,000), Bair has big-city speed that has him among the most coveted recruits the Gem State has ever seen.

Last weekend, at the Texas Relays, he ran a blazing 10.18 in the 100m, a personal best. Earlier this spring, he beat California's defending 100m and 200m champion, Rodrick Pleasant, an Oregon signee, in an indoor 60m race.

But it's not just on the track where he shines- its on the football field too.

As a junior, he caught 73 passes for 1,073 yards and had an impressive 18 touchdown receptions. He also averaged 70 yards a pass- he threw one pass all year, for a 70-yard touchdown and a perfect 1.000% completion percentage. Defensively, he added an interception and then averaged 35.6 yards a kickoff return.

How big of a recruit is he in a national context?

Bair is a four-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is ranked highest in the industry at 247Sports, which puts him as the No. 40 overall player in the country, the highest a player from Idaho has been rated, the No. 9 receiver nationally in a loaded group of pass-catchers and the No. 1 prospect in Idaho in 2024.

He has already been selected to play in the 2024 All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

So yeah, Bair is big-time.

OREGON DUCKS

With Bair's track exploits, naturally Oregon is making a push for him. While he's an elite sprinter, track isn't the priority for him like other elite track athletes, but a year after signing Rodrick Pleasant, who is the fastest football player in California, Oregon wouldn't mind making it consecutive classes with an elite sprinter.

Receivers coach Junior Adams coached Williams-Rhodes at Boise State and he has plenty of knowledge of the state of Idaho from his time with the Broncos. Adams has been running point on Bair's recruitment and in 2023 signed Bair's 7v7 teammate and fellow Idaho standout Kenyon Sadiq, a top 100 prospect nationally and the No. 1 prospect in Idaho in 2023. He wouldn't mind back-to-back No. 1 players from Idaho either.

247SPORTS.COM

The Northwest's No. 1 rated prospect Gatlin Bair has one of the most unique recruitments in the current cycle and is choosing between a who's who of elite programs.

Next Five Who Could Commit to Oregon Football in 2024

What's next for Oregon after landing Texas safety Aaron Flowers?

It'd been a quite couple of months on the recruiting trail for Oregon. February and March came and went without new commitments and Jaxson Jones was the last player to commit to the Ducks at the end of January.

That changed on Friday when Oregon landed a verbal commitment from Forney (Tex.) safety Aaron Flowers.

He could be the start of a long string of commitments for Oregon in the spring and even heading into the summer months. Remember, the Ducks will hold their spring game on April 29 and likely bring in their best group of recruits since Dan Lanning was hired.

I'm taking a look at five players that I think could be next to commit to Oregon. Keep in mind, I'm NOT predicting them right now or saying they will commit. They all have different decision timelines, but I'm pretty confident that Oregon leads for these guys.

Find out who these five players are from an article by Max Torres in Ducks Digest.

Twitter Reaction: Ducks leave recruits buzzing after successful weekend of visits at Oregon

It was another successful weekend of recruiting visits for the Oregon Ducks, and many of the high school recruits who were on campus over the past few days have left Eugene raving about what Dan Lanning and his staff have cooking up in the Pacific Northwest.

With spring practice back in session, and the 2023 Coaches Clinic taking place at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex, it was an incredibly busy weekend for the Ducks. Throughout the week and into Saturday, a number of highly-ranked recruits flocked to campus to check out the practices and get a feel for how Oregon works in the offseason.

The recruits also got to tour the Oregon facilities and go through the highly-popular photoshoot process, donning the Duck colors and seeing all that Nike has to offer.

Here are some of the best reactions from recruits in town over the weekend.

Oregon DB Target Miles Lockhart Sets Decision Date

A well-known cornerback target is set to come off the board in early Summer. Basha (Ariz.) three-star corner Miles Lockhart has announced a commitment date of July 6.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder is the No. 403 ranked player nationally but the No. 8 ranked player in the state of Arizona per the On3 Industry Rankings.

In an earlier interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, Lockhart had mentioned Oregon, Ohio State, Washington, Utah and Northwestern as schools that had pulled ahead in his recruitment.

Currently the Buckeyes lead the On3 RPM with nearly 97% chance to land Lockhart.

Following his Oregon visit in January, Lockhart told ScoopDuck’s Sean Nelson why the Ducks were one of his top choices.

“I like that they always keep it real and they also treat not only me but my family great,” he said. “I talk with them almost every other day.”

Oregon signee Cole Martin is a big reason why the Ducks have a great chance at landing Lockhart.

“Cole is like my blood brother, literally,” he said. “We call all the time.”

Currently the only set official visit is to Ohio State on June 16. Lockhart previously told Nelson the Ducks would also get an official visit prior to his decision.

Luke Moga, fast-rising quarterback prospect, sets commitment date; Oregon the favorite?

Class of 2024 quarterbacks are flying off the board - with 18 of the nation's top 21 signal-callers locking in verbal commitments.

That flurry of activity has driven up the interest in a new crop of talented passers, including Sunnyslope (Arizona) three-star quarterback Luke Moga, whose stock appears to be skyrocketing.

As a junior, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller threw for 2,258 yards and 26 touchdowns with eight interceptions and added an additional 539 yards and five scores on the ground.

While Oregon is set to both Pinnacle (Arizona) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and St. Frances (Maryland) four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren this month, Moga has emerged as a prime candidate for the Ducks.

Furthermore, his commitment date coincides with a massive recruiting weekend for Oregon, aided by the program's spring game on April 29 and an Elite 11 regional camp event at Sheldon High School in Eugene on April 30.

Oregon Picks up New Predictions to Land 2024 Offensive Lineman

Oregon Football is laying the foundation to land a string of commitments on the recruiting trail here in the 2024 class.

After securing a commitment from Forney (Tex.) safety Aaron Flowers last week, the Ducks are in a great spot with numerous recruits ahead of their annual spring football game on April 29.

Oregon has received multiple 247Sports crystal ball predictions to land 2024 Salem (Ore.) West Salem offensive tackle Trent Ferguson. The most notable prediction came from national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman on Monday. Steve Wiltfong hopped in the boat as well, logging his Oregon pick on Tuesday, making it three total predictions in favor of the Ducks.

Ferguson stands at 6'7" and weighs 300 pounds. He's rated a three-star (0.8600) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 856 player nationally, the No. 70 offensive tackle and the No. 5 recruit in the state of Oregon.

On3 Expert Logs Oregon Prediction for Four-Star ATH

Last weekend Oregon hosted one of the top athletes in the country for a multi-day visit.

Calabasas (Calif.) two-way star Aaron Butler is the nation’s No. 86 overall player and No. 4 ranked athlete in the country. The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder can play on both sides of the ball but prefers playing offense at wide receiver.

Alabama, Georgia, Arizona and Colorado are four programs also in the mix for the versatile play-maker.

However on Thursday morning, On3’s director of recruiting Chad Simmons, logged a prediction. Simmons talked about his decision to log a prediction for Oregon on ScoopDuck.

“I’m told by a source that he had a “very good” visit to Eugene and that the Ducks will receive an OV.”

Simmons had a prediction for Georgia previously before moving to Oregon. His confidence remains a bit low however, at 50% confidence currently.

There are still two other predictions in favor of Georgia currently. But Simmons notes his official visit to Georgia this weekend is off the table for now. He’s set to take an official visit to Colorado the weekend of April 22.

Could Oregon be in line for the speedster? Butler is currently talking about a July decision and right now the momentum seems to be in favor of Oregon.

Ducks again make big jump in recruiting rankings after flurry of commitments

It was only a few days ago that we dove into the updated 247Sports recruiting rankings to take a look at where the Oregon Ducks stood.

The Ducks had just gotten a commitment from 4-star safety Aaron Flowers, the No. 109 player in the 2024 class and one of the higher-rated players to join the team this cycle.

Since then, though, there has been some additional movement.

On Wednesday, the Ducks added 3-star OT Trent Ferguson, a 6-foot-7 OL who is unproven with a lot of upside. That led us to Thursday, where Oregon was able to flip 4-star DL Tionne Gray from his commitment to the Missouri Tigers and land him with the Ducks instead.

Of course, these two additions caused the Ducks to move up again in the rankings. Here’s a look at where they now sit nationally...

Ducks pick up prediction to land commitment from 4-star WR Dillon Gresham

On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Oregon to land 4-star WR Dillon Gresham, a rising prospect from California.

Gresham is rated as the No. 61 WR and No. 414 player in the 2024 class.

The Ducks already have a loaded WR room in the 2024 class, with 4-star Jordan Anderson and 4-star Tyseer Denmark already committed, both of whom are among the best WRs in the class.

Gresham has yet to take a visit to Eugene, but we will see if the Ducks can land a verbal commitment from him soon.

Oregon starting to catch fire on the recruiting trail

Oregon is ripping and roaring on the recruiting trail, up to No. 8 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings after a flurry of commitments here in April headlined by Top247 safety Aaron Flowers.

Sitting on eight commits, Oregon is in great position for several other top targets moving forward. They are hoping Flowers is just the beginning of what could be one of the nation’s top defensive back classes. Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra Top247 cornerback Dakoda Fields is a coveted player on the board and he’s equally excited about a potential future in Eugene.

“What excites me about Oregon the most is is where they will be in the next two, three years,” Fields said. “It was very impressive to see Coach Lanning go out and get 10 wins his first year as a head coach, knowing that he didn’t really recruit any of those guys."

James Madison II Recaps Oregon Visit

James Madison is one of the best wide receivers in Florida and placed the Ducks in his top five following a visit.

2024 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver James Madison II was on campus this week and placed the Ducks in his top five schools on Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 192-pound wide receiver shared some highlights from his second trip to Eugene.

"I've been up there before, but just going back up there, seeing the coaching staff again, being able to sit down and talk to Coach Lanning, Coach Adams and everything like that," Madison said. "Last time I didn't see practice, so getting a better glimpse of how they coach, how they operate and how they run their team. It was very insightful."

Ducks now projected to land pair of top-100 players, rising QB in 2024 class

If you hadn’t been paying attention over the past couple of weeks, it’s now become incredibly clear that the Oregon Ducks are among the nation’s hottest teams in the recruiting world right now.

The last seven days saw them pick up commitments from 4-star CB Aaron Flowers and 4-star DL Tionne Gray, as well as an in-state commitment from 3-star OL Trent Ferguson, moving them to well inside the top 10 rankings nationally. On top of that, a flurry of recruiting predictions has started to come in over the past couple of days, predicting that more high-end 4-star talent is on the way.

On Thursday, 247Sports Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction that Oregon would be the landing spot for 4-star WR Dillon Gresham.

On Friday, Wiltfong and fellow 247Sports colleague Greg Biggins logged multiple predictions for the Ducks. Here’s more info on the players that Oregon is projected to land, and where that would leave them in the national rankings should it all come to fruition.

Ducks land in top-5 for WR Gatlin Bair, No. 1 rated player in Idaho

The Oregon Ducks landed the top-ranked player from Idaho during the 2023 class with ATH Kenyon Sadiq, one of the 100 best players in the nation.

It appears that they are going back to the well, and recent news shows that they are in a good spot to get Idaho’s best once again in the 2024 class.

On Sunday night, 4-star WR Gatlin Bair revealed his top five schools, keeping the Ducks in the mix along with a handful of others. Bair is rated as the No. 1 played in Idaho, as well as the No. 40 overall player in the nation, and the No. 9 WR in the 2024 class.

Bair took a visit to Eugene earlier this year, and will likely find his way out to Oregon again this summer before making his ultimate decision.

Oregon makes strong impression on four-star DB Dakoda Fields following recent visit

Gardena (Calif.) Serra defensive back Dakoda Fields spent three days in Oregon last week and the Ducks have some momentum in his recruitment.

The Ducks are doing well with several players in the SoCal area including Fields. He visited Oregon for the third time last week (April 10-12) and really raved about his time in Eugene.

RUMOR: Oregon is emerging big-time for four-star WR Aaron Butler.

BUYING IT. There was a time a few months ago that it looked like it was only a matter of time until Georgia landed Butler’s commitment and I was even making preparations for that inevitability. It no longer feels that way.

Maybe Georgia slowed down a tad on the four-star receiver from Calabasas, Calif., because the Bulldogs already have commitments from Ny Carr and NiTareon Tuggle with many other targets out there. But it’s also because Oregon has dramatically stepped it up with him.

Butler had a phenomenal trip to Eugene over the weekend and now the Ducks probably have the slight edge for Butler, who impressed at the recent Under Armour Los Angeles Camp.

Four-Star LB Brayden Platt Names Top Eight

Dan Lanning has definitely prioritized linebackers in this recruiting cycle. One of which is Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder is the nation’s No. 225 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. Platt is the No. 4 ranked player from the state of Washington.

On Tuesday he dropped his top eight which included Oregon. Surprisingly it did not include Washington.

Currently Oregon leads the On3 RPM just slightly at 23%. USC is just behind the Ducks with 20% chance to land the four-star.

OL Devin Brooks finalizes third official visit, focused on top three

Clackamas (Ore.) offensive lineman Devin Brooks has finalized his third official visit as he focuses on his final three.

Brooks has had a solid top three for a couple of months of home-state Oregon, USC and Washington.

He had previously lined up official visits to USC on June 16th and to Washington on June 24th.

And now with offensive line coach A'Lique Terry firmly in place at Oregon, he's scheduled his visit to see the Ducks.

"I'll be going to Oregon on June 10th for my official," said Brooks.

Brooks said that Stanford made a push to crack the top three and expand it to a top four, but he's focused on the trio.

"I had some time talking to coach Viane (Talamaivao) at Stanford when they offered me but I'm not as interested in Stanford and I'm focused on the three schools," said Brooks.

Jhop Predicts: Running List of 2024 Predictions

The last few days have been filled with some pretty big news in Oregon football. Spring ball is in full bloom and the Ducks are set to host one of its biggest group of visitors next weekend the program has ever seen.

With things building up, it’s an exciting time for Duck fans.

I figured this was a good time to take a look at some of the 2024 predictions I’ve made on uncommitted players regarding the Ducks.

See the updates from recruiting insider Justin Hopkins in the article below...
