A key part of that process is getting eyes on recruits in person and if they check the right boxes, extending scholarship offers. One rising player that received an offer from Oregon this week is 2026 Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco wide receiver Madden Williams.

McDonald said there are several other schools he would like to visit including Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M. He talked about what he likes about each program:

Oregon- “I’ve never been to Oregon so I definitely want to go and check them out. I like coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) a lot as well. He’s a great guy and a great coach and produces a lot of corners and just got a guy drafted in the 1st round so I have a lot of interest.”

Sophomore standout Tomuhini Topui is already one of the state's top lineman

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei sophomore Tomuhini Topui looks primed for a monster sophomore year.

Topui is just a sophomore but already one of the best prospects on both sides of the line of scrimmage. He was a part time starter as a freshman at offensive guard and defensive tackle but will focus moving forward on the defensive line.

We’ve seen him numerous times this off-season and he has been very impressive. He was the DL MVP at the SoCal National Preps Showcase back in May and we wrote the following evaluation of him after the event.

“Topui could have easily won ‘Overall MVP’ honors as he was absolutely dominant on both sides of the line. He took reps at defensive tackle, nose guard and edge and then flipped over and took reps at offensive guard and offensive tackle. As dominant as he was on the defensive line, he was even more impressive on the offensive line and won most of his reps with the opposing DL not even getting past the line of scrimmage.

“He’s about 6-foot-2, 330 pounds right now and told us he’s hoping to drop some weight and be closer to 315-320 by the fall season and we like that idea as well. He’s already very quick with a great get-off and that will only improve as he leans out a bit. He has grown man strength right now and just manhandles opposing players at the line of scrimmage.”

Oregon/USC look good early for four-star '26 standout Tomuhini Topui

The initial top 100 for the class of 2026 was released last Wednesday and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei two-way lineman Tomuhini Topui was one of the headliners.

The initial top 100 is based largely on freshman year production as well as high level projectable tools, ie) HT/WT/speed.

Our rankings are an NFL Draft projection so high school production matters but we’re also highly influenced by things like length and elite athleticism.

There were eight total players from California who made the top 100 with Topui checking in as the No. 5 player in the state and No. 41 nationally.

Topui is a player that could have made this list as both an offensive guard/center as well as a defensive tackle/nose. He’s a dominant two-way player but will focus on the defensive side of the ball this year.

He was the best player we saw at the SoCal National Preps Camp back in May where he earned MVP honors and didn’t lose a rep while working out on both sides of the ball.

At 6-2, 335 pounds, he has a 78.5” wing, moves well and plays with a mean streak. He has advanced technique, uses his hands well and competes with a non-stop motor.

247SPORTS.COM

Topui was rated a top 100 prospect in the initial 247Sports Top 100 that came out last week.

Ducks pick up two big-time predictions to land 5-star DL in 2026 class

It may be far in the future, but the Oregon Ducks look to be in great standing with one of the best players in the entire 2026 class.

5-star defensive lineman Tony Cumberland is expected to take a visit to Eugene this weekend for the No. 11 Ducks’ showdown with the No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes, and Oregon fans got a pleasant surprise leading up to the visit.

On Thursday, both 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong and Blair Angulo placed Crystal Ball Predictions for Cumberland to commit to the Ducks.

This is going to end up being a major recruiting weekend for the Ducks, where over 30 prospects are expected to be in town for the game throughout the weekend.

“We’ll have a lot of people here,” head coach Dan Lanning said on Wednesday. “Our crowd’s going to be amazing, but we’re gonna have a ton of great people that can help us in the future that we need to make a great impact on.”

We will see if the Ducks can pick up a commitment from Cumberland, and potentially any other major prospects who will be in town, over the weekend and get into good standing with others after a hopeful successful Saturday.

Five-Star Cornerback Davon Benjamin Recaps Oregon Ducks Visit

Oregon's 2026 recruiting class got off to a great start with the commitment of five-star Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Edge defensive lineman Tony Cumberland earlier this fall.

Over the weekend the Ducks hosted another five-star recruit in 2026 Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian cornerback Davon Benjamin.

The 6-foot, 176-pound defensive back wanted to get up to Eugene for the first time because of what he's seen from Dan Lanning and the Ducks this season.

"I wanted to take the trip because I've seen what Coach [Dan] Lanning and the team did," Benjamin told Ducks Digest. "It was looking good all season, proving theirselves, becoming a top-10 team in the country."

The Ducks dominated the Oregon State Beavers to the tune of a 31-7 win and the Autzen Atmosphere was electric once again.

"It was amazing. The crowd especially, it was packed out. Everybody was loud during the game. It was blessing. A good experience to have it."
