  2. Eight D1 power conferences with 8-10 teams each based on geography. Complete round robin for each conference allows all teams to face off. No conference championship game needed. Top 2 go to playoffs. If you're not top 2, you're not a champion, try again next year. (There is a loophole that allows a mid-major to replace a 2 if certain thresholds/ranking are not met.) Playoffs: 1st weekend in December: Top 2 from each conference go to a regional playoff where 1's battle 2's at home. 2nd weekend in December: Remaining 8 are seeded and square off with top seed at home. January 1st: Semifinals Next reasonable Saturday: Championship All players are unpaid amateur student athletes. The stage college football offers and their education is their reward. All players must sit out one year following a transfer to another D1 school with the exception of graduate transfers. All head coaches under contract cannot take another D1 position without sitting out for one year. As long as we're dreaming, that's my dream.
  3. Sitting in the stands watching guys like Reuben Drougns and Mo Morris, at a time when Oregon was just budding... Oregon victory on a barely blocked FG (Autzenvs UCLA?)... The key defender (sorry, the image is sharp, but my memory for names isn't) joyfully running off the field waving his successful fingertip in the air. Oregon vs Cal,on a sunny fall day in the 70's. My bestfriend and I (literally) were sitting alone in the east end zone Running back battle between then Bobby Moore and Isaac Curtis. Curtis busted a 63 yard run for a 1st down. An acquaintance of mine was holding the down marker, but missed the play because he was busy, watching Cal's 2 cheerleaders. (TBH, during warmups, so were the Oregon football players!) He failed to notice the play, despite ref whistles and screaming spectators trying to get his attention. A ref finally ran back and chased him into position. Dude never worked another game. Gawd I'm old.
  4. Call me weird, but I feelas if 24 is too much... 16 would give a decent number of qualifying teams, every season. At 24, I believe therewouldbe a fair number of blowouts, most years.
  5. I've already stuck a fork in it, doubt adding 12 more over paid and under prepared 'clown-squads' will improve anything... I'll still watch, just never quite sure what it is I'm seeing. Go Ducks!
  6. Good point, but looking at the1st-round games that would be played on campus, many more viewers would be watching than watching the teams play in bowl games. Correspondingly, media entities shut out by ESPN from PO broadcasts, such as Fox, CBS, NBC, and others, would join the bidding, and ESPN would also have to increase what it is paying per playoff game. A 24-team PO field would help save the ACC, two additional teams in the field, and the B12, three more teams in, as viable entities, and two more teams in the field would drop more money in Greg Sankey's jeans. Five more B1G teams in. Perhaps the increase in the price to attend Oregon football games would be more modest. College sports programs are in a Battle for the Benjamins. A businessman has come up with an idea to make far more money from the football postseason. And he's dumped on? I don't know about my Forum Friends, but for me, the 1st round games would be must-watch TV. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  8. Itโ€™s a disaster overall right now, imo. I think it helps if structured correctly, and calendar adjustments are made that make sense for both the playoff and the off-season. These adjustments are more important than the number of teams imo, but if 24 magically makes it happen, then whateverโ€ฆit would be better. 24 teams without opt outs will absolutely improve the overall post season experience.
  9. Ooops. After last season's Playoff Pity Party in South Bend, the Domers automatically qualify and are Playoff Golden if ranked 12th or higher in the final PO Committee ranking. ๐Ÿค‘ Not July 4th yet, but is anyone else thinking about being Independent?
  10. It only makes existing lower tier bowl games even more irrelevant, and hard to watch.
  11. As reported by ESPN, the Big Ten Conference (B1G) has proposed that the 12-team college football (CFB) playoff (PO) field expand to 16 teams in 2027-28 and 2028-29, before expanding to a 24-team PO field in 2029-2030 and thereafter. The 16-team field would include the ACC, B1G, B12, SEC, and the highest-ranked G6 champions. The 24-team field would have a ... Read More Source Read the full article here...
  12. Watched Kenyon Barnerโ€™s epic day at the Coliseum sitting in the middle of SUC fans at around the 30 yard line. He ended the day with 321 yards rushing, and 5 touchdowns. One of the greatest performances in Duck history. I remember hearing โ€œ sit down zeroโ€ about 10 times from the surrounding crowd. By the end, they all had left.
  13. Ducks lose 10-6. So many gifts by the pitchers...seven walks and four plinked batters. Eleven bases given without even hitting the ball?
  14. 10-6 Beavis after eight innings. I admit...I was not watching closely at all--I have a hard time when we're getting our butts kicked. But we got some runners and a grounder scored one, and Angel Laya hit a triple off the wall to score another. That guy is quite the athlete...fast!
  15. 10-3 Beavis after seven innings. So we gave freshman pitcher Shane Johnson a shot. Whoops! This must be like how Beavis feels in football Civil Wars?
  16. 7-3 Beavis after six innings. We change pitchers to freshman Josh Hollis, but not much changed for Oregon. Drew Smith walked and the Angel Laya nailed a low pitch and put it over the CF fense to score two!
  17. 5-1 Beavis after five innings. Michael Meckna just gave up his first earned runs of the year. Too many of them... Oregon offense is stagnant.
  18. 2-1 Beavis after four innings. Oregon brings in Michael Meckna, another improved sophomore pitcher. He looked good for two batters, then got shaky with a walk and a plinked batter, and then struck out one of OSU's better batters. Oregon strands two...again.
  19. It's always a good day when Calipari loses by thirty four points๐Ÿคฃ.
  20. 2-1 Beavis after three innings. Miles Gosztola gave up a HR, and a double that scored a runner. I cannot help but think about how much of the 30 million Oregon State stole from Oregon is funding the program we are playing?
  21. If the Ducks cannot fly to Trinidad, will Trinidad come to Autzen? https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/03/03/oregon-football-2026-cfp-prediction/88948266007/?utm_source=smg-duckswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SMGbaseline&utm_term=Content
  22. You've got a Lot to be proud of ๐Ÿ˜and another strong Men's basketball team that could go back-to-back.

  24. Like the Men's team, OBD No. 11 seed Women's basketball team will have an opening round game vs. No. 14 Purdue. https://trojanswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/trojans/womens-basketball/2026/03/03/bracket-set-2026-big-ten-womens-basketball-tournament/88955456007/?utm_source=smg-trojanswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_campai
  25. 1-0 Ducks after two innings. Miles Gosztola gave up a double, but created ground-outs to keep them scoreless. Drew Smith made and incredible scoop at 3rd base to prevent a run!
  26. Great points Jon. I see where you're coming at, I really do. Players are the most important thing. If you don't have a Jimmy that can throw the ball, or Joe that can make that goalline stop in the fourth. You could have the maestro of play callers, and it would be the same as having Larry, Curly Joe, and Moe. But....... If you're renovating your house, and you have to decide between fixing the leaky roof, or the faulty wiring. You need to get more money. Of course housing safety codes are more important than football team costs, but in both instances you need to address everything. If Washington is able to find someone who is able to pay Demond Williams five million a year, and they were willing to pay to keep Deboer. I believe they can find the money to find a guy to oversee calling half of a ballgame, and giving the head coach more time to oversee everything. I think it's a Jedd Fisch decision, just like it was a Billy Napier decision. Napier brought in the largest support staff in the SEC, but he never wanted to give up any say in the offense, and it showed. Especially with the development of any quarterback, DJ Lagway regressed from his true freshman year to his sophomore season. The defense actually went from a weakness to a strength. But Billy wouldn't ever entertain changing things up. His offense worked in the Sun Belt, and it was going to work in the SEC. Meanwhile, there were several major issues not being addressed like the Strength and conditioning, offensive line, and QB coach. Jon Sumrall has spoken candidly about the glaring issues he saw when he first came on board. Oddly enough, he said the parking lot was one of the nicest he's seen. If you want further proof that maybe even Napier learned a lesson. In his introductory press conference as the new JMU head coach, he quickly stated how he was going to be handing off play calling duties at JMU. To me, it's not a monetary issue. Especially at these places in the B1G or SEC. It's about what the head coach feels comfortable with. If Jedd Fisch wanted to, he could find a guy. But he probably thinks there isn't somebody who can do the job better than himself.
  27. Great stuff, but up to the final act, these are the days. Whoever has taken over for Willie S, someone please tell him that all of the heroes dying in the final scene is not necessary. SEE: The Hoosiers - Gene and Cig versions. Live from Las Vegas, will we be watching OBD hit The B1G Natty Trifecta Jackpot on 1/25/27? ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿ˜ Danno, get 'er done.
  28. 1-0 Ducks after one inning. I was surprised to see Miles Gosztola starting, and he got three outs in three batters. He plinked one, but then picked him off in a hot-box between first and second. Ryan Cooney smashed one to the mound, and it bounced forward into CF for a hit. Dominic Hellman was plinked, and then Maddox Molony hit one deep to LF to score Cooney. (Stranded two on base)
