  2. 7-4 Ducks after eight innings, as Cole Stokes walked a Beavis, than generated a grounder that turned into the third 6-4-3 double play of the game for Oregon! Santiago Garcia came in as a lefty pitcher, and covered first base for the out on the throw from Ryan Cooney. (Walsh was moving to field it, but it got past him, and scooped up by Cooney) THREE MORE OUTS FOR A FOUR GAME SWEEP!
  3. 7-4 Ducks after seven innings. Cole Stokes bashed the Beaver batters, and the Oregon offense got going! Mason Neville hit a line drive to bounce off the wall for a double, and then Jacob Walsh hits a double that drives to the deep right corner, and scored Neville! Walsh steals third, and then Drew Smith smashed a hit through a hole through the left infield to score Walsh. No stolen third base by Walsh, and no extra score for the Good-Guys!
  4. Didn't know this... A Day Aftter Derrick Harmon Was Drafted By the Steelers, He Experienced This Heartbreaking Tragedy WWW.THEROOT.COM Harmon credits his mother for working 'just as hard' as him to make his NFL dreams come true. I'm not even sure it has been reported in Oregon Media. What a bittersweet moment in his life.
  5. Today
  6. 5-4 Ducks! It is after six innings, and Ducks had a combination of getting a hit batter, walk and hits. The key play was Cooney singling up the middle, but the throw to first by Beavis was errant, and two Oregon runners scored! Sam Boyle pitched two outs for Oregon, and Cole Stokes got the third one.
  7. Culture is paramount to the success of champions. Retention of talent is, IMHO, more important to success than portal acquisitions. Players who are recruited to top programs and spend their careers there are typically much more successful at getting to and staying in the NFL than program hoppers. Case in point: 26 of the 32 first-round selections in the recent NFL draft spent their college careers at their original landing spot. This is not possible without strong culture that emphasize player development. The Ducks have reached the point where they can rely on this model, stressing to in-comers that development is everything and to start grinding early, to learn from the older players, and to do anything to contribute before reaching the status (hopefully) as a starter and/or regular rotational piece. For many players at Georgia, they don't regularly see the field (except for special teams) until late in the second or the third year. But if they have embraced the "development" mantra and are ready to ball when opportunity knocks. One of the major reasons that both Michigan and OSU won nattys the past two years is that the coaching staffs had been very successful at retaining the top talents, whi, in turn were very experienced and "developed players who knew how football is supposed to be played.
  8. 4-2 Beavis after five innings, Oregon's Jaxon Jordan pitched a good inning and shut the bad-guys out.
  9. 4-2 Beavis as Featherston stumbled during his pitch, got a balk and scored a run for them.
  10. 3-2 Beavis after three innings, as The Pride of Portland Oregon, Ryan Cooney, sent a pitch over the wall! Ryan Featherston took over after a couple of walks by Sanford, and faced a bases-loaded and NO outs situation....and got the Ducks out of the inning unscathed!
  11. Of course, the Pac-12? broadcast is biased, it's also very boring. $$$$ definitely helps the production.
  12. 3-1 Beavis after two innings. A pitcher Oregon needed to regain his confidence--Will Sanford, is struggling. He walked three in this inning, gave up a hit that scored, and then gave up another run on a wild pitch. Yikes!
  13. 1-1 after one inning as both teams had home runs. Oregon's Jacob Walsh did it again!
  14. Ducks softball team has the best record -- best winning percentage -- in all of Division 1! Go Ducks!!

  17. What if I told you I believe the best thing to do for the game is keep the current playoff format? What if certain changes enhances interest in the game? I agree with Jon. I don’t believe the playoffs will expand. I believe the pool will increase, and specific changes will make the regular season count like never before. I believe ESecPN will agree to the changes. I believe the B1G will as well. I could be completely wrong, but just before the season, I will explain my reasons why. Some of this hinges on what ultimately happens between the schools and the players, because like Jon, I don’t believe the House settlement will solve the NIL/Portal issues completely. It’s a great time to be alive. The P2 might be waking up to reality.

  26. Tony, Ohio State had 14 players drafted, one short of the record 15 held by Georgia. I'm sure the Ohio State culture had much to do with the Buckeyes winning the national championship. However, large NIL payments to players who were draft-eligible in 2024 also helped. No offense, but what was your take on the Buckeyes culture the day after the 4th straight loss to Michigan? Ohio State was fortunate to have the chance to overcome the loss, and hats off to Ohio State for a tremendous PO run.
