This. I was wondering why we were wasting time on him? Even if he committed to Oregon and joined us in three years--he would not be ready for games until two years later, as that is assumed at Oregon? So why were we wasting time recruiting a QB who will not be helpful until 2030? (Especially when we can get a great portal QB every year?)

Frankly, Oregon deserves the ranking received, (No. 20) as we peaked too early. The last two years the Ducks finished at No. 12 in the nation, and we have good times ahead. Surprisingly...D1Baseball put Beavis at No. 4, and B1G MCWS representative UCLA at No. 5 in the nation. Think of it...Oregon took six out of seven games against those teams. Sigh. (I can't complain...we had our chances) With Arizona at No. 7, the west coast finished with three in the top seven, and five in the top 25 with Oregon at No. 20, and UC Irvine at No. 25. Firms that will not invest money without having a voice in the sports going forward. The media already has far too much influence on college athletics. There is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or under any stone. Athletic scholarships cost schools money, either directly or indirectly. There is no return on investment by schools adding field hockey or men's gymnastics to their sports menu. Most athletes participating in these two sports, as well as many other non-revenue sports, do not come from financial situations where an athletic scholarship is required or higher education is unavailable. There is nothing wrong with club sports, sports that can be coached by player-coaches. I don't believe that hockey players at Oregon receive athletic scholarships. Yet they're on the ice and having fun. There are all kinds of ideas that require the expenditure of OPM. In the case of more spending by athletic departments, the majority are bleeding red ink. Many of the states that support public schools are running deficits. Given a choice, should states provide money for additional sports for student-athletes or additional aid for financially disadvantaged students?
