  2. I've been pleased with how Oregon has played so far, it's such a tough situation for Oregon since they play so few actually respected teams in the B1G. Our non-con isn't bad it's also not super impressive either, so it makes every game so much more important since you don't get a lot of leeway if you lose a game here and there against teams like Northwestern or really anyone other than UCLA/USC/UW. We're really going to need to win some of those games against the California teams to get a home regional. Also I'm sorry to ask this, but do you mean the NU have a 6.80 ERA and Oregon has a 3.12 ERA?

  6. What's Up with Italians and Geography? Saint John's coach Rick Pitino doesn't know where San Diego is located. Arkansas coach, Calamari, er, Calipari, doesn't know if Portland, Oregon, is in the USA. Dear Rick and Cal, I'm hearing that people are leaving NYC, that no one is sure where Arkansas is, and that no one cares. 'Mistakes have been made.' 🤬 Thank goodness for Tony Petitti. 😁 https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2026/03/18/march-madness-far-travel-west-coast-rick-pitino-john-calipari-mick-cronin/89198647007/?utm_source=usatoday-sports-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_cam
  7. Here's a look at the Wildcats head baseball coach, Ben Greenspan. He was an assistant coach at Cal Poly for the 2022 season. He spent seven years as the assistant/associate coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils between 2015-2021. Under his guidance, ASU earned regional berths in 2015, 2016 2019 and 2021. After one year at Northwestern, the team improved from 10-40 (200%) to 18-34 (346%). In 2024, the Wildcats won nine non-conference road games and their fielding percentage improved from .967% (13th in the B1G) to .980% (1st in the B1G). Assistant coach Cody Jefferis attended the University of San Diego, where he played shortstop for the Toreros baseball team from 2018-2022. He was on the 2022 WCC all tournament team. He is a native from Valencia, California. Nine players on the Northwestern roster hail from California, so these guys are familiar with the West Coast. The Wildcats have only one player on their roster hitting above .300%, that's outfielder Jackson Freeman. His current stats are: .371%, 26 hits, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 7 runs batted in. Last year he hit two grand slam's, one against Illinois and the other against Maryland. Their pitching staff, up to this point, have been mediocre at best. Their team era is .680%, while our Duck pitchers are a remarkable .312%. But the games aren't won on paper. Their won on the field. As always...GO DUCKS!

  11. Too early to tell… We all know that backup QBs can be just one play from being a starter. Junior probably needs to be #2 on the depth chart this spring, and that means Raiola is still in recovery mode. It would be a great story if he rises through the ranks to be a starter for the Ducks, but realistically, 2027 would be the year he has a solid chance to play extended minutes. For the moment, I will just enjoy having depth at QB. The players will sort themselves out.
  12. Don't want to be Debbie downer on this one but I will be more surprised if Akili ever breaks into Oregon's lineup than if he doesn't. Here is why. If you look back at his Elite 11 performance it was pretty underwhelming. Arm strength and ability to read defenses were not impressive. You don't hear any behind the scenes talk of him from players, coaches of him standing out in practice. When Mariota and Herbert were freshman (and not playing) you kept hearing from players, reports out of camp that these guys were special. I haven't heard a single word from anyone about Akili. If you weren't able to push Thomas, Novasad and Moga for some mop up playing time then that doesn't bode well for the future. I would so love to be wrong but not holding my breath on this one.
  13. His weight and height 😊👍, great to have for a QB! He has great uptick, hopefully will be able to keep him in the fold.

Akili Smith Jr. — 6-foot-5, 231 pounds, a consensus four-star recruit and one of the nation’s top 20 quarterbacks in the 2025 class — arrived at Oregon with pedigree, production and enormous upside. Ducks fans remember his father, Akili Smith, who starred at Oregon in 1998, throwing for 3,307 yards and 30 touchdowns ... Will Ducks QB Akili Smith Jr. Find Opening in a Crowded Room?

  23. Since I broke down for the first time after years of lusting--and got a subscription to D1Baseball to see all their extended coverage of College Baseball which is really helpful to learn about opponents, and see some Duck-Love. They broke Oregon into their top-25 this week at No. 21, and I'd to think we'll rise over the season. My goal for the Ducks is to make the top-16 so they host a Regional again. D1Baseball's Top 100 Pitchers of the Week: Collin Clarke of Oregon! Opponents: Santa Barbara has one, and we play them in a week and a half. The bastard Huskies had one, and we play them in Seattle near the end of the season. No. 1 UCLA had two pitchers on this list,--no surprise. But USC had THREE pitchers on this list...in one week?! Damn... D1Baseball's Top 100 Hitters of the Week: None from Oregon this week, but that'll change. Beavis had one. The bastard Huskies had one. Gonzaga had one. UC San Diego had two on the list, and we play them mid-week, next week! I Know...I'm Easily Entertained
  24. FanDuel has released its 2026 Power 4 Regular Season Win Total rankings, with odds set for a team going Over or Under the total. Preseason college football (CFB) rankings are ubiquitous. And why not when the source of a ranking has no skin in the game? FanDuel has skin in the game. In 2025, predicting that Penn State, Texas, and Clemson would win 10.5 games and finish in the top-5 cost the experts nothing but a mea culpa, we'll try better next season. If you bet the Under on these three on FanDuel, FanDuel did not have to say 'sorry,' FanDuel had to show you the money. Is there anything to be gleaned by taking a deeper look at the win totals? Maybe, but we won't know for certain until the final CFB Committee ranking on December 6, 2026. With that in mind ... [Rankings below are from The Sporting News 2026 composite Top 25, plus other teams ranked in the top 30.] No. 6 Notre Dame and No. 7 Texas Tech are at the top of the ranking with 11.5 wins. And why not? The Irish and the Red Raiders' 2026 schedules are not merely manageable; they're an outright, LOL, jest. Both teams will be favored in all 12 regular-season games. Yes, Texas Tech has a tough out-of-conference (OOC) game at the reinvented Pac-12's Oregon State, but the only ranked team Texas Tech has on the schedule is No. 23 Houston. The Raiders play the Cougars in Buddy Holly country. 24 Power 4 teams won five or fewer games in 2025. Notre Dame plays seven of these losers plus a side order of 5-7 Rice. The Domers play 2025 9-2 Navy in Foxborough, Massachusetts, close to a few Irish folk and fans in Boston. The Irish have a modest 82-13-1 lead in the long-running series vs. the Midshipmen. Notre Dame does play 10.5 wins, No. 9 Miami, and 8.5 wins, No. 17 SMU. Both games are in South Bend. Since 2021, Notre Dame is 12-0 against the ACC in games played in front of the TD Man, and 34-7 all-time vs. the ACC. On the road against No. 11 BYU, 8.5 wins, could be a tough game, but with a distinct roster advantage, Notre Dame will be favored. In addition to Miami, two teams come in at 10.5 wins: No. 4 Indiana and No. 5 Oregon. The Big Ten team with the most difficult schedule in 2026, No. 1 Ohio State, and the team with one of the easiest schedules, No. 20 Penn State, have an Over of 9.5 games. Indiana, Ohio State, and Oregon all have difficult schedules: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/2026-big-ten-football-schedule-rankings-easiest-toughest/ Here are the win totals for other ranked Big Ten Teams: 13 USC - 8.5, 14 Michigan - 8.5, 21 Iowa - 7.5, 22 Washington - 7.5, 29 Illinois - 7.5. In 2026, OBD plays five of the nine ranked Big Ten teams, with the USC, Ohio State, and Illinois games being played on the road. ... Will playing nine conference games in 2026 make a difference in the SEC? FanDuel's win totals for the SEC say, 'Yes.' No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Georgia have the highest It Just Means More win totals at 9.5. Other SEC-ranked teams' win total: - 8 Texas A&M - 8.5, 10 Oklahoma 7.5, 12 LSU - 8.5, 16 Alabama - 8.5, 24 Missouri 6.5, 25 Tennessee - 7.5, 29 Florida 7.5. If these totals are close to how SEC teams finish in 2026, far more SEC coaches than Georgia's Kirby Smart and Tennessee's Josh Heupel will come out in favor of Tony Petitti's 24-team CFB Playoff format. It seems to me that FanDuel is taking an SEC team going Over risk. ... . Conference Champ Games based on Win Total: ACC - Miami vs. SMU B1G - Oregon vs Indiana B12 - Texas Tech vs BYU/Utah SEC - Texas vs Georgia G6 win totals are not available. Oregon opponent Oklahoma State has a win total of 5.5. 25. Oregon Ducks offers QB Jake Nawrot, set visitThe Oregon Ducks might be shifting gears on the quarterback front in the 2027 recruiting class. The Ducks offered quarterback Jake Nawrot on Monday night. Nawrot is the No. 2 quarterback and No. 32 overall player in the class. The 6-foot-4 signal-caller from Hersey High School in Prospect Heights, Illinois, told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong that he will be visiting the Oregon campus in Eugene on March 31. He received a call from new Oregon quarterbacks coach Koa Ka'ai, alerting him of the offer. “We discussed the complexity of the Hersey playbook that Coach Nelson runs,” Nawrot told Rivals. “Oregon has a strong reputation for developing QBs.” https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/recruiting/2026/03/17/oregon-ducks-football-jake-nawrot-recruiting/89190117007/
