  5. Shutout Clinches Series for Ducks GOLITA, Calif. — A dominant performance from the Oregon pitching staff powered the Ducks to a 2-0 win over UC Santa Barbara in the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. Oregon (23-5) got six shutout innings and nine strikeouts from starting pitcher Cal Scolari (4-0) before turning things over to the bullpen. Tanner Bradley kept the Gauchos (16-9) scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings, and Devin Bell closed things out in the ninth for his sixth save of the season. The Ducks' offense managed just five hits, but freshman Angel Laya delivered a big swing in the fourth inning with a solo home run to give Oregon a 1-0 lead. Oregon pieced together an important insurance run in the ninth inning, scoring on a wild pitch to give Bell a two-run cushion. The weekend series win was the sixth straight for the Ducks to open 2026 and their 13th in a row dating back to April 4-6, 2025. Oregon has now won 19 of 20 series since the start of the 2025 season. How it Happened: Oregon threatened in the first inning with two runners in scoring position after a walk to Dominic Hellman and a double by Drew Smith, but the Gauchos were able to escape the jam. Scolari and UCSB starter Kellan Montgomery both worked around runners in scoring position over the next couple frames to keep the game scoreless going into the fourth. Cal Scolari at UCSB Laya continued his terrific freshman campaign in the top of the fourth inning, breaking a scoreless tie with a long solo home run over the right-center field wall for a 1-0 lead. It was Laya's ninth home run of the season, just one shy of tying teammate Maddox Malony for the program freshman record. Scolari was nearly unhittable over the next three innings, retiring nine of the next 10 batters he faced while racking up five strikeouts. His nine strikeouts on the game set a new season high as he recorded his second quality start. The Ducks again put two runners in scoring position in the seventh but were unable to cash in. Bradley came on in relief of Scolari and bounced back from a one-out double to strike out the next two batters he saw and keep Oregon's lead at 1-0 going into the eighth. Bradley set the Gauchos down in order in the eighth while adding a third strikeout, and Oregon's offense came up with a huge insurance run in the top of the ninth. Ryan Cooney tripled with one out and was replaced on third by Jax Gimenez after a hit-by-pitch and a fielder's choice. Following an intentional walk to Smith to load the bases, Gimenez was able to race home on a wild pitch to push Oregon's lead to 2-0. Bell came on for the bottom of the ninth and bounced back from a one-out walk to induce a pair of flyouts to end the game and secure the win for the Ducks. Box Score Notes: With a fifth-inning hit-by-pitch, Gimenez extended his reached base streak to 18 games, matching the second longest by a Duck this season … Gimenez reached base three times (2 HBP, BB) but saw his 14-game hitting streak end … Cooney recorded his second career triple and first of the season … Cooney finished 2-for-4, his 11th multi-hit performance of the season … Bradley threw multiple shoutout innings for the ninth time this season and has allowed just three earned runs in 21.2 innings of relief on the year. On Deck: Oregon returns home for a single midweek game against Portland on Tuesday (5:05 p.m./B1G+) before hitting the road for a three-game weekend series at Michigan.
  6. Two B1G teams in the Men's Final 4, Illinois and Michigan, and 2 B1G teams, Wisconsin and Michigan, in the Frozen 4. Michigan, with a 4-3 win over Minnesota-Duluth, joins Wisconsin as one of the last four teams skating. Wisconsin vs. North Dakota and Michigan vs Denver in the semifinals. And do not forget the women. Michigan's women's basketball team also advances to the Final 4, joining UCLA. The 3rd NCAA postseason tourney with two Big Ten schools in the finals. Many a grape is being squeezed tonight in Ann Arbor.🤪 With both basketball teams in the Final 4 and the ice hockey team in the Frozen 4, it's hard to believe that Wolverines are an endangered species. Go Blue. Go Bruins. And let the champagne flow in Champaign.

  8. Life is only a movie, right? Braylon Mullins, the UConn freshman who hit the winning basket against Duke, played at Greenfield-Central High School in Greenfield, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. Mullins, the 2025 Indiana Mr. High School Basketball Player of the Year, heads home to compete against Illinois in the Final 4. 🤔 Hmmmm.
  9. No Dukes are left And neither are any ACC teams in either men or women Final Four.
  10. Kissin cousins? N. Carolina led VCU by 19 in the second half, and lost in overtime 78-82 in the first round. Duke led UConn by 19 late in first half, and lost on a prayer shot 72-73. Meanwhile U Conn overcomes both God and the Devil. Women beat Notre Dame, and men beat Duke. Both in Final Four.
  11. UCLA's Women's Team, behind the play of All Big Ten Player of the Year Lauren Betts, dunks Duke, 70-58. UCLA moves on to the women's Final 4. The Bruins 35th win of the season sets the Big Record for Women's Basketball. I don't know about kings, but No Dukes are left in the 2026 basketball tourney play, which IMO is A-OK. 😍

  13. Holy Hurley! Duke pulls defeat from the jaws of victory. Duke simply had to hold the ball to run out the clock, but a Duke player passed the ball, the pass was blocked and turned over, and with two seconds left, UConn freshman Braylon Mullins hits a desperation 3 from well beyond the 3-point line - UConn 73 - Duke 72 - and Mullins will never have to pick up a check in the Nutmeg State. Illinois will play UConn in a Final 4 semifinal game in Indianapolis. A Final 4 with two Big Ten teams, a Big 12 team, and a Big East team. 15. Ducks win 2-0! Ryan Cooney hits to the RF corner, as the fielder lost it in the sun. He charges past second and barely gets into third for a triple. Jax Gimenez was plinked, and Dominic Hellman hits a grounder, but they threw home to get Cooney out. Both remaining runners are in scoring position... Drew Smith was intentionally walked to load the bases...so we have Ducks-on-the-Pond! A wild pitch scores Gimenez for our second run! Closer Devin Bell was brought in, got an out, and then walked a batter, and looked shaky on his first pitch to the next one. That brought a mound visit, and he generated 95-96 mph heaters to create two fly-balls to finish the game. Santa Barbara has one of the best pitching staffs in the nation, as their problem as of late was scoring as much as they'd like. But Oregon really matched that staff with stud pitching today by Cal Scolari, (who got the win) Tanner Bradley, and Devin Bell. (Who got the save) We went 4-1 on the road trip, and getting our butts-kicked yesterday was the perfect wake-up call to remind the team how much they hate losing. Sorry for no videos, as UCSB did not provide any, and the game recap will be here in 2-3 hours. Way to go DUCKS! Cal Scolari Today...
  16. 1-0 Ducks after eight innings. Nothing on offense... Tanner Bradley was sharp, and made it look easy to dispose of the Gaucho side. On to the ninth... Nervous Time!
  17. 1-0 Ducks after seven innings. Stranded two again... Tanner Bradley made his second relief appearance this weekend, and after a short stint on Friday. He is our No. 1 reliever, and gave up a double, but then finished them off.
  18. 1-0 Ducks after six innings. We stranded one base runner... Cal Scolari pitched the sixth and finished with nearly 100 pitches, and six scoreless innings!
  19. 1-0 Ducks after five innings. Santa Barbara brought in a relief pitcher, but Oregon still stranded two on base! Cal Scolari is sharp, putting them down 1-2-3.

  21. 1-0 Ducks after four innings. Angel Laya caught an inside 89 mph pitch and blew it over the CF wall! Cal Scolari struck out the side and four-out-of-five of the last batters. Whew!
  22. 0-0 after three innings. Ducks left a runner stranded on second... The Gauchos got two in scoring position, but Cal Scolari snuffed the threat with a strikeout featuring a tough breaking ball that caught the batter by surprise for the third strike and out!
  23. Fielder was/is an sc legacy recruit, grandfather, father alums and uncle won a Natty there. I think it still says something that he committed to the Ducks first with that history. Maybe sc will train him for us like Pregnon 😅
  24. 0-0 after two innings. The Gaucho pitcher is really good, and having a great day thus far. Hard to hit... Oregon's Cal Scolari walked two batters after two outs, but after a mound visit from pitching coach Matt Flores...he generated a long fly-out to finish the inning.
  25. 0-0 after one inning. Ducks left two stranded in scoring position! Oregon's Cal Scolari created to fly-outs and a strikeout. He was fired up coming off the mound, and I imagine the team is fired up after not playing their best yesterday.
  26. U$C does it again, buys the services of another SoCal recruit, and flips off OBD. With the right person at AD and Football GM, and the booster money organized and aligned, a broken Blue Blood is repairing itself. But is the head coach the guy to bring back the days of John McKay, John Robinson, and Pete Carroll? Oregon's visit to SC in Week 4 could be a program-defining game. https://trojanswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/trojans/recruiting/2026/03/29/four-star-offensive-lineman-drew-fielder-commits-usc-football/89375088007/?utm_source=smg-trojanswire-strada&utm_mediu
  27. The group of pitchers used on Friday for Oregon were superb, while the pitchers on Saturday...disappointed us. Today we have Gaucho pitcher Kellen Montgomery, who has an ERA of 3.86 to face against Oregon's Cal Scolari (3.27) and it should be a dandy again. Can the relief pitchers on Sunday come through?
