  1. ACC exploring possibility of adding Stanford, Cal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Pac-12 left with 4 members of defections to Big Ten, Big 12
  2. Could the B12 be throwing a lifeline to OSU? Report: Oregon State, San Diego State engage in 'very preliminary' discussions with the Big 12 WWW.ON3.COM The Beavers and Aztecs could end up as the 17th and 18th teams in the Big 12 according to very early reports from...
  3. LS definitely deserves the majority of the blame. But GK also should take on significant blame for his alarmingly aloof attitude and inability to read the room.
  4. I dunno, Brutus is pretty creepy looking too. Imagine that thing staring at you from the opposite end of a dark hallway. *uncomfortable shiver*
  5. One thing in the article that hadn't occurred to me was the possibility of the MWC dissolving ITSELF and then joining the Pac12 to create the merged conference. That gets around the whole $33 million per team separation fee. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the path taken to be able to retain the power 5 status and all the CFP benefits that come with it. They'd obviously be the weakest P5 conference but at this point, the name of the game is survival. They can figure out the growth path (such as it is) later on.
  6. That's less chaotic than I thought it would be lol
  7. ...and retain power 5 status? Could Mountain West and Pac-12 merge into a single, 16-team conference? WWW.SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM Sources say preliminary talks have started on a merger between San Diego State's current conference and the...
  8. I don't think that's a bad idea. The remaining Pac12 and MWC combining to be a super-G5 type of conference would provide a much needed lifeline for OSU/WSU/etc. That could result in a better media deal than what the MWC is currently getting and better than nothing for the Pac12 teams. Now here's the interesting part. The Pac12 is still technically a power 5 conference...unless something with the CFP changes, the theoretical newly formed PAC/MWC could have a representative in the first expanded 12 team CFP field. Could you imagine Jonathan Smith taking the Beavos into a surprise appearance in the playoff?? Given how competitive his team has become, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for him to go undefeated in the new conference and get in.
  9. I’m seeing other reports that the situation is still fluid https://theathletic.com/4748878/2023/08/04/washington-oregon-big-ten-slowed/
  10. Add more fuel to the rumors. If offered, Oregon Ducks will accept Big Ten invite, source says WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM UO would not hesitate in accepting the invite, according to sources.
  11. I don't hate the Apple TV idea, though I wish it were Amazon Prime since I already have that subscription. Then again, I use SlingTV which has the Pac12 Network as a $15 dollar add-on. If I discard that and sign up for a $10 Apple TV subscription I come out $5 ahead. That being said, I agree with Charles where I don't think Apple TV is the sole part of this proposal. There are probably other parts at work here that aren't public yet. I could see Apple TV being the primary holder of content then the Pac12 doing a distribution deal with the CW or ION like the ACC did to get more eyeballs on the conference.
  12. Sanders is a great coach if you consider pounding on FCS teams with FBS talent great coaching
  13. Whatever the case may be, if I were GK I wouldn't be feeling good right now.
  14. A little good news amidst the craziness lately https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2023/07/adrian-wilson-4-star-2025-receiver-flips-commitment-from-tcu-to-oregon-ducks.html?outputType=amp
  15. Well deserved, with Kellen Moore as the new OC I think Justin's going to go to the moon next season. And to think that Cristobal wasted all that talent in Eugene.
  16. Feels like heresay to me. https://www.si.com/college/utah/football/two-pac-12-programs-oppose-conference-expansion
  17. I like that show on Netflix. I'd be a horrible judge though since I'd get at least half of them wrong. You'd be seeing me trying to saw into an old leather boot thinking it was red velvet cake...
  18. I think 10-2 is appropriate given the quality of teams this year. IMO I don't think any Pac12 team will finish with less than 2 losses, once you see what the 2nd half scheduling looks like you'll understand that there's going to be a lot of cannibalization going on.
  19. Helfrich was an excellent OC and one of the best offensive minds around. Herbert's best development happened primarily under MH's tutelage. Could you imagine what kind of offense he could design around someone like Bo Nix?
  20. Under that model I can imagine the Pac12 doing well with that given they already have the Pac12 Network facilities to produce the content, then make a deal with the CW or Ion for wide distribution across all the markets they have access to. Imagine getting all our games broadcast over the air in most of the country without dealing with the giant conglomerates...
  21. To be fair, negotiating a deal with the CW channel is probably a lot easier than the giant media companies the Pac12 is jousting with right now.
  22. Speaking of media deals, this just happened... ACC, CW strike broadcast deal to air 50 football, basketball games - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM This fall, the ACC will begin airing football and basketball events on the CW Network, a new addition to the league's Saturday...
  23. Here's a funny thought: depending on the size of the equity stake in ESPN, what if the Pac12 were to buy it? Then the conferences' sports games could be integrated in by force and get both linear and streaming through the network.
  24. There will be one in every bunch that will make a bad decision. Even with his commitment Miami has only 5 blue chips and 12 3* players. For the most part, the good ones are staying away. If Miami has another sub-500 season record with bad losses to bad teams, I don't think Mario will make it halfway though his 2nd year. He'll be fired early like Slick Willie did.
  25. I read this article earlier today. Just a lot of fawning over USC and some serious underestimation of Oregon. That aside, USC can't even get past Utah and until they do there shouldn't be so much starstruck attention on them.
