Chip doesn't have to run the same blur surprise offence as he did when at Oregon. He went 8-4 this year with much less talent than Oregon

has. Take away the P12 Champ game and thats only one less win that MC got the Ducks. Chips NFL tour was a bust. Where else would he

need to go? Certainly not back to NH. Yeah he sucks at recruiting but some of that can be fixed with really good recruiting assistant

    coaches.

I think the head coach is the closer. I just don't see it working with CK

Especially with the boom going on at USC. We are going to need someone to mitigate that if we want to be competitive yr in yr out.

  2. Wasn't Utah senior top heavy this year. I believe that it was. Experience is the equalizer of talent. Put both together and you have a great chance at winning.

Look at the LSU championship from 2019. 15/0 senior ladden. Huge amount of draft picks. Next year Not so good.

Look at our win at tOSU this year. We were still healthy missing only JT and JF and experienced. Fast forward to end of the season and we are missing 10 starters and having to play true Fr and walk ons.

FB is complicated with many moving parts.

  3. I wanted Justin when Taggert left. I'd love to him be our next Coach. He already has a relationship with Deryter and Yates. Bring former Duck OC Musgrave, he was an OC in the pros and knows what he is doing.

He has connections with high schools in Seattle, Los Angeles Bay Area and upper Mid West. He is an alumni and was a great player for us. That's a Win Win proposition and I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Do it now so there's time before early recruiting.

  4. I believe injuries were the major reason for this season. The only other thing that comes close is the QB accuracy with the deep ball. Let's look at the injured that didn't play in the championship game.

    Offense

#1 RB Jr CJ Verdel, #3 RB So S Dollars

#1 WR's Sr JJ Johnson, Sr J Redd, So M Pittman.

TE's So Cam McCormick, So P Herbert.

OL's Jr R Walk (our best lineman and center) So J Denis.

    Defense

ISL So J Flowe ( our best ISL), Sr D Mathis, So J LaDuke, Fr K Brown.

DB's Jr B Williams and Jr S Stevens (our best Safeties).

DL K Hudson/Ware (our best IDL)

That's 10 Starters and upper classmen.

That's just the players I remember not playing last 3 games. Look at all the experience and who we had to replace them with was  true Fr and walk ons.

Let's go over significant injuries during season that caused them to miss multiple games

    DL's Jr J Tib, So B Swinson

    OL's Sr A Forsyth, Fr J Powers/Light

    LB's So M Funa

    TE Sr D J Williams

I know FB teams have injuries but this is excessive. I believe this is why we had an up and down season this year. We were the youngest team in the country and it showed.

Of course I'm not discounting the same up and down play of Sr QB AB who struggled on the road just like our team.

There's 1 team that mirrors us and that's Texas A&M. They were supposed to contend for a PO spot until they were decimated by injuries like us.

    And so it goes.

  5. I agree it's his health. We don't know what kind of surgery he had but it was an emergency so it's was serious.

I believe if or when it goes down its the importance and tremendous amount of work recruiting that MC requires and his lack of health or desire to do so.

As far as the idea that it's MC and his offensive mindset, JM knew what it was before he accepted the job.

MC has been explicit in his desire to control the game, running the ball and taking what the defense gave him.

Whether it's running all game or passing, since he became HC that and  recruiting has been his mojo.

We just don't have the QB with the accuracy. With that combined with youth of the team since 2019, Covid and injuries this year we really haven't seen what our team can and will be.

I believe if JM moves on, MC will find a great OC and the DUCKS will keep on flying.

  6. The leveler of talent is experience. The more experience you have the easier it is to win on the road, deal with adversity and deal with the unbelievable pressure. Remember these are still kids not men.

Experience and talent is when you get dominance. How many teams are undefeated this year? 2 out of what, 128 teams across the country. That's about what it is every year.

CK was winning, in fact he had the best run in history since start of the BCS system and still struggled to recruit top talent to Eugene. Without USC having a good coach. The top recruits still went there.

I believe it's a mistake to believe we are going to be able to stay at the level we have had and will slide back to the Belotti times of only having a good club when we were experienced.

  7. Oklahoma has been to the PO. That's what the most talented 5*  kids want. They want to win, get the exposure and to be a pro. Hollywood is a big draw, especially now with the NIL.

Yes some will want to leave but not a lot to the rest of the PAC as is what happens when USC is good.

They have the advantage of sun, girls, family/friends and fame. What else could a teenage meglamac boy want?

We got Eugene, nature and get away from the family/friends. You tell me which would you choose if you were him? My choice would definitely be USC, IF THEY WANTED ME.

Which is what happened for all those years. Remember I'm a 72 Duck.
