  1. I'm gonna stay home, play games with my teenage granddaughter, her boyfriend, and my wife, eating snickerdoodles and pulled pork (Not together, silly!), and shout Happy New Year about 4 hours early so the 92 year old Duck fan MIL can get her beauty rest in.

Oh, and to make sure the alarm clocks are set, so we can be ready for kickoff!

    GO DUCKS! EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES!

  2. I still believe the right DC hire may well have made a difference.

Elevating Allioti instead of Helf may have resulted in Helf moving on, but we'll never know.

Hindsight in most instances, provides strong evidence of promoting to the level of incompetence is a reality to which guys like Helf, Frost, and the recently dismissed Chargers coach give sad testimony.

  3. I thought 'Wasabi!!!' was a swear word...Can we even use under FD rules?

It does remind me of the way my step-father used to sneeze... "Wasabi Wasabi! Wasabi!!!", usually 3 times in a row.

Startled the heck out of unsuspected strangers. 😜

Doesn't matter what we refer to the Bowl Which Shall Not Be Named, it was a nightmare!

Kobe Savage has the potential to be the best safety Oregon has had in years.

He is a hard hitting safety, who makes plays in open space, and has good ball skills. Oregon’s safeties have been mediocre in pass coverage the past few years. I didn’t get a good sense for Kobe’s coverage abilities in the below highlight video but he looks plenty fast and athletic to be a good coverage safety.

    His name seems apropos...

  5. The Playoff final Oreg lost (you remember, after humiliating famous jameis in th Rose Bowl), more than a few Duck fans approached the final with a serious dose of confidence... tOSU was starting their (OMG) 3rd string QB.

OREGON, with their receiving corps dropping like flies (literally and figuratively), could watch in horror as the Buckeyes'  Cardale Jones, with a healthy assist from Zeke Elliot, punched the pigskin into the end zone repeatedly for the win.

The backups need to be well prepared, even if they may never be a starter.

The younger guys also need hope that if the keep grinding, there is a decent chance of starting at some point.

Constantly chasing the next shiny object on the horizon may not get us players with the patience to keep fighting for the goal in the days of NIL/portal/free agency.

  6. IMO, this QB portal business may become a self correcting problem, to some extent.

Right now, we are in the tail end of a unique set of circumstances, partially created by covid, and the unique addition of eligibility extensions, as well as the wide open regulations associated with the unlimited free agency for student athletes, which temporarily allowed multiple transfers, in some cases, during the same year/cycle.

It's a shifting landscape, but the likelihood of having multiple uber-experienced quarterbacks (and other positions) available may soon wind down.

I agree, Alex, that phenomenal pass by Bo Nix was great.  Especially since it was against our state rival the Beavers!  Thanks for writing your article today.

Too many exciting plays to just choose one.  On defense I would go with the harassment of ex duck Shough and the pick six that saved our victory against Texas Tech.

But I think my favorite was the screen to Herbert with 900+ lbs of blockers leading the way.  Especially with the finish line lean by Jackson Powers Johnson!  So much fun!

Go Ducks!  Win the Fiesta Bowl!

This^^^ plus the last passing TD for Bo in the CCG. Treyshon Holden towing the sled dog to the end zone.
