Maybe the best quality Tosh has is he isn't head coach material and will likely stick around in a position that fits his ceiling instead of chasing the Peter Principle.

I think he could handle head coaching if he wanted it.

But I don't think he wants it. If he wanted it, he would have had an opportunity somewhere.

Third...(above) somebody has to tell them how to say "Eugene, Oregon."  It is not YOU-gene, but you-GENE with the emphasis on the second syllable.  Geez.

They'll also need a crash course on how to pronounce Oregon.

    It's Or-i-gun

4 different ones, I gave up on the 4th quarter.

Yeah I missed the 4th quarter which is a bit of a.shame because that's when there were some big offensive fireworks by the look of it.

    Look at the bright side...

Never have to use Pac-12 network ever again!

I highly doubt that Oregon v Oregon state will ever be relegated to the pac-12 network as Oregon would have a fit about that and the B1G.

Or green!  Maybe yellow with a green outline?  lol

Green is a bit more subtle of a color and because of that it's our (Ducks) primary color and yellow tends to be a highlight because it really pops.

The yellow button would pop a bit more and people would see it.

But an apple green outline would also help it pop out to draw the eye as well.

    3. We will have some new improvements added to the forum in the next few weeks, including a visible "Donate" button.  Only between the advertising and your donations are we able to keep the bills paid for photographers and Tech Support on both volunteer sites.  Those who write, edit, post article links, (and I) operate as all-volunteer.

    Finally!!!

I've been telling you to get a big YELLOW donate button for ages.

    So it better be yellow!

Finally. No point in have 130 teams in a single division where 100 of the teams have no chance to ever win it all

30 viable winners I feel is too high these days.

15-20 teams tops are viable contenders.

In any given year that number is closer to 3. 2023 was an exception of viable teams at around 8.

  7. I found this interesting though no surprising as we are all familiar with the narrative now.

    BLEACHERREPORT.COM

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix has flown under the radar ahead of Thursday's NFL draft, especially compared to...

However, it is worth bringing up that I wrote an article similar to this one last year.

    FISHDUCK.COM

Heisman Trophy voting changes from year to year. The trophy is supposed to go to the best player in college...

Now I do believe that if Oregon had won the Pac-12, Nix would have won the Heisman.

It will be interesting to see how the Oregon offense progresses next year. It's going to be good but will it be flashy for the Heisman voters or continue Lanning's trend of ruthlessly efficient?

So this means OSU and WSU are now eligible for that guaranteed best of Group of 5 (now 6) spot in the playoffs.

But they will just make the mountain west super chaotic. No team is getting through the MW unscathed with the addition of OSU and WSU.

Which will block them all from the playoff as no G6 team will make the playoff with any losses, as one team somewhere will go undefeated.

  9. There might be some regulations in the B1G that need to be addressed as well. I heard something about volleyball needing it's own independent court... Basically its only unique flooring.

I know in football the Pac-12 has had a ban on any fields that aren't a natural green. This would have meant that Boise State would need to get rid of that hideous blue turf if they wanted to join the conference, and were accepted.

That rules will be interesting to see if it sticks around in some eventual Pac-12 - MWC merger.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some B1G rules about basketball courts.

If ticket prices continue to rise, and 2024's greater football season ticket sales can be sustained, will it be enough to offset a good chunk of the "Pac-12 liabilities" until Oregon can reach higher Big Ten shares?

Oregon has loads of big time donars, not just Uncle Phil. They all know they may need to kick in a bit more money if needed to weather a possible drought.

Also... We all get fixated on the media money, which is big don't get me wrong, but there are a whole lot of other payouts conferences have for their teams.

Oregon will be in a conference that will payout a lot more money yearly.

    Oregon will be just fine.

Mari(o) is now 12-13 at Miami. If Miami doesn't challenge for the ACC title this season, we could see a lot more players leaving the U. And maybe Mari(o) too. Manny Diaz, now the HC at Duke, was more successful as Miami's HC at half the money if that.

    But Mario wins at recruiting!

The fans are going to LOVE him until September rolls around. Then be underwhelmed and then frustrated and then angry at a season of lost opportunities.

As Duck fans that's how most of us felt.

Mario wins the off season. He gets big recruits, and improves his coaching roster (on paper) and it feels like everything is in place for something big.

And then it falls apart on game day.

Glad we have Lanning is all I can say!

  12. What is clear is that Lanning has gotten more out of the offensive lineman he inherited.

But the reality is that in two years Lanning gutted the roster of the vast majority of the Cristo al talent and it is almost all gone now.

There was a post I made months ago on FishDuck that I brokedown what is left from the Cristo al roster and there aren't many.

I think Tightened has the most players who were recruited by MC at this point.

The offensive line has completely turned over with JPJ being the only MC recruit who started last year.

Receiver had Franklin who has departed for the NFL.

No quarterbacks or runningbacks from the MC era left after the first year or Lanning.

Then the defense received a MASSIVE overhaul after Lanning's first year. Only a handful of players at best are left in the rotation on defense. The only two I can think of right now are Donte Manning and Kenyon Ware Hudson.

    Interesting Report coming out:

Oregon has reached out to former Georgia RB Andrew Paul

Andrew Paul, an exciting running back for the Georgia Bulldogs, has decided to enter the transfer portal, and the Oregon Ducks have reportedly reached out to the intriguing prospect. Paul has three years of eligibility remaining.

According to a report from On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Ducks are one of many teams who have contacted Paul since he announced that he is leaving Georgia.

During his initial recruitment, the Ducks went hard to bring Paul to Eugene. In early 2022, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and former RBs coach Carlos Locklyn took an in-home visit with Paul after he rushed for 2600+ yards and 40+ TDs in his senior year of high school.

Per a report, the Ducks have reached out to former Georgia RB Andrew Paul.

Runningback is not a position I felt Oregon wanted to pursue.

Although, I have noticed fewer fans stand up for the song at the football games. Perhaps our alumni are standing in line trying to get a beer.

Probably because the Kelly-Helfrich years made standing exhausting from Oregon scoring so often.

David, I thought the "we don't pay players" was an obvious reference to fanspeak - not actually anything to do with what is allowed.

"We" make our guys go to class.  "We" only offer scholarships to real students.  "We"...etc, etc.

I missed that reference in that case.

I keep running into folks who don't understand how NIL works. Or works legally or theoretically as the NIL landscape keeps shifting in terms of what is and isn't allowed.

And I think I often run into Beaver fans who don't understand how this whole NIL thing works too. The reality for Beaver fans is they are already a farm program... They will recruit and develop top talent that will be scooped up by B1G and SEC teams and their players who aren't tier 1 level but aren't G5 will go thr Big 12.

$400,000.00 'from' Oregon State? That's tough for me to get my arms around. A lot to pay to be the champion of the Pac-2.

That's pay to try and keep the Breavs relevant (at least by their status quo standards) for another year.

Oregon State's NIL groups are going to throw as much money as they can at the team in the next few years I feel. If the Beavs can make the playoff they may be able to get themselves into a real conference.

Will it work? I kind of doubt it... But I think that's their only play.

NIL is paid by a 3rd party(ies) who do not belong to the institution the player is playing at.

Coaches have no control, and they're not even supposed to have knowledge, of how NIL is paid.

If a coach or someone from the university actually pays players directly that is a violation.

The reality is that every coach knows their NIL budget and talks to their NIL collectives about how to direct the resources. But coaches aren't supposed to be involved.

    Gonna be a bidding war!

    To answer your question...

Would I like him? Yes ... But no where near enough to warrant a bidding war. Oregon is loaded at runningback and if I was balancing the NIL books right now I would want to use that money elsewhere.

(again coaches do not do this as it is a 3rd party but coaches also have an idea of their "Budget")
