If my notes correct and please feel free to correct me. Afterall I am not a Buckeye, Huskt or Trojan fan. All the Duck redshirts can play 4 games in the first 12 regulat season games and not burn that redshirt. Games 13 thru 17 dont count. DL has littered the field with a number of players in the 2nd half of MSU, Purdue, UCLA and Illinois. If any coach is on top of tgat it would be DL..... NCAA, gove all players 5 years or 6 years to play 5. I agree with Danielson that you get better games as players mature. Dl Is 30-5 with 2-6th year QB Transfers. GO DUCKS.....beat them wolverines.

Oregon Ducks Football: 3 Keys to Beating Michigan
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Michigan will do there best to shorten the game and limit the opportunities and possessions the Ducks have. The Ducks need to score points on as many possessions as possible. Play clean, protect DG and blow the Wolverines out by halftime. Take the crowd out of the game esrly. Fotce Michigan to play catch up all day. The longer the Ducks allow Michigan to hang around it opens the door for an upset. Only Oregon can beat Oregpn...... -
AnotherOD, you raise some good points in your solid post. I am not certain how the CFP Selection Committee will view some of these teams and their SOS. Who have Miami, Clemson, SMU, Pitt, Iowa State and BYU played and beaten? Do their schedules compare to the SEC or BIG? Have they played or beaten a SEC or BIG team? I don't have those answers! We will have a better picture on the first selection poll in early November. For me, conference strength is a key component. Some 2 loss SEC teams may or could have a better resume than a one loss team in ACC/Big12. However, that may not be the case with the committee. Either way there will be some upset teams. I think SEC gets 4, BIG gets 3 (if Indiana wins 11 games they get invited) ACC gets 1, Big 12 gets 1, Group of 6 gets 1, ND steals 1. If Indiana gets in thats it. If they dont then 1 big invite is up for grabs. Just my thoughts.......
-
The Ducks wpuld be well advised to play like an underdog and win out. Solidify a spot in the BIG Title game. No sense getting involved in any tie breakers. However a 11-1 Duck team would still get or should get a CFP Invite. However, I have been a Duck fan since the 1984 season. Many on this Forum have been Ducks fans since the Willamette Valley was first settled almost 2 centuries ago. IMHO, this Duck team can win it all. In 2010 and 2014 i rooted from my heart. Wishing and hoping the Ducks could win it all. This team, barring critical injuries can win it all. Others may disagree! Lets see OBD's take care of Michigan first... GO DUCKS....

B1G Officiating: Three Blown Calls in ONE Game?
HappyToBeADuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree with Jabba that the referees are not out to get us. The refs around the country are simply having a very bad year. Very bad. Bama and Miami have had officials change the game or save the game for them. The worst is over turning calls because the fans become unruly or violent. In the Texas vs Georgia game, overturning that call was correct. However it should have come with a 15 yard penalty because of unacceptable Texas fan involvement. The (.......ncaa) can change this immediately. They changed the rules overnight because DL took advantage of a rule. Get it done NCAA and fans get a darn petspective on what matters. -
As we see DL bring his recruits and portal talent into Eugene, for this fan, I see an SEC type defense developing right before my eyes. With the addition of Harmon and Caldwell at the DL position OBD's got SEC big. SEC size and speed at linebacker and edge. And the backend contests balls and have rarely been beat. Couple that with a PAC12 offense with nasty O line, NFL talent at the skill positions, DG and 2 things pop in my feeble mind: 1. The BIG is not built, at this moment, to handle OBD's on either side of the ball. Discaimer: The Ducks must play smart, clean, error free ball. 2. Next time we play Georgia, Kirby won''t be able to walk off the field and claim that DL knows Georgia has better players No disrespect to Kirby and our Awesome Bull Dawg fans. That thrashing in Georgia is still fresh in DL's mind. Hope we meet at some point in this years CFP. Long ways to go, so let's handle Michigan this Saturday. FYI: When was the last time a BIG team beat tOSU and Michigan in the same regular season? Don't know but its within OBD's grasp. GO DUCKS.
-
Notalot you are so correct about the weekly improvement by OBD's. The back ups have stepped up and the depth is gaining experience. The O line, tight ends and receivers are executing their blocks allowing the Duck O to take control and dominate. How about the goal line stand in the 3rd quarter? Still more improvement can and will happen....very exciting...... If the Ducks make the Natty game then we are half way thru the season. As other teams are faltering the Ducks continue to improve. Go Ducks let's best Michigan...

Jordan, the Ducks truly pounded the Illini throught out this game. Especially in the first half.... They suffered at least 4 injuries on their defensive side of the ball. The Duck running backs and tight ends delivered punishing hits on snyone trying to tackle them. Especially Noah W. Outstanding performance Noah........ Saturday brought a number of pleasant events for this ancient Duck Gray Beard..... Udub being handled by the Hoosiers! The rodents total ineptness and humiliation at the hands of Cal.... A complete game dominance by the Ducks D, 2 weeks in a row. WOW... A no let down by OBD's offense in the first half against Illinois. ( Not sure what happened to the Duck offense in the 2nd half.) Well done Ducks. It all means nothing because its a brand new season in Ann Arbor. Go Ducks....beat the Wolverines.

Which Other Team Are You Pulling For On Saturday?
HappyToBeADuck replied to Ktmguy2018's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The best case scenario for OBD's is that BSU and tOSU win out. Those small point victories will loom large on srlection night. With tie breakers, it is possible that PSU and Indiana can keep OBD's out of the BIG Title game. They would both have to beat tOSU and that diminisjes our SOS. For this Duck fan a rematch with tOSU is a best case scenario. Howver, you all make very compelling aeguements. First things first: beat Illinois -
Which Other Team Are You Pulling For On Saturday?
HappyToBeADuck replied to Ktmguy2018's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Would like to see Texss A&M beat LSU. Seeing a fresh face sit atop the SEC would be refreshing. And whoever plays Bama...... This would really create a quandry for the CFP selection honks. How they will justify a 3 loss Bama getting in will be deemed creative but in fact will be pure bias.... College football may have expanded the CFP but will the Committee expand its thinking? To our great Georgia fans, this Duck feels The Real Dawgs will win out and get to the SEC Title game. Rooting for Indiana to beat the lesser dogs of Washington. Go Ducks........ -
Bitter-Bile from Testy-Trojans...
HappyToBeADuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I guess the view from the bottom half comes with a cup off bitterness. I bet usuck was glad they brought uclasuck into the BIG..... Why? So they know they won't ever finish last. Though Purdue offers a secure buffer. It's certainly okay to feel that all their problems are Oregon's fault. But those whiny jack wipes own what Riley brings to the table. He is not Lannings equal in humility and being down to earth. Usuck you got fluff, own it... . GO DUCKS......... -
OR? They could have asked Maybe the Oregon O Line, with future NFL talent is that good? Or the Duck O Line played a clean, outstanding 60 minutes? Or tOSU just wasnt prepared? Afterall they plsyed 5 cream puffs before the Duck game. No kudos or respect for how well the Duck O Line played.

Stop What You're Doing: Joel Klatt Has it Right!

Photos of Autzen Stadium - Great Memories!
HappyToBeADuck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Smith72 thanks for this post and all those amazing pictures. Thankful for some forward thinkers in the athletic department and alumni for all their donations to make Autzen a reality. It's a true home field advantage! My heart skipped a beat as I remembered my first spectacular sunset at Autzen. But nothing sets my heart on fire like Old Glory showing the colors...... Great memories for sure, none greater than The Pick. Go Ducks.... -
FORGET the 2025 Season: Ducks Better Savor This Year…
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This Duck fan feels confident that DL and his staff have had multiple, non player discussions on this subject. As forward thinkers and doers they have do know who they need to replace. And most likely have a NIL and recruiting plan in place the minute the portal opens up. The future talent on the bench may be the best ever at Oregon. Just needs to be seasoned with the right experienced players in the portal. Winning the BIG, going deep in the playoffs or beyter yet, winning the Natty will help all aspects of recruiting and in the portal. Nice sidebar topic and this fan is Happy to turn my focus and worry to the 6-1 Illinois team. Personally, i see a let down by the Illinois team after their rare win over the blue blood that is Michigan. Lots of spent emotion? GO DUCKS....... -
Illinois will come into Autzen with alot of confidence and a good team. For me it stops right there. The only elite team or even really good team they played in 2024 was PSU. The rest of that schedule is light and Boise State would be 6-1 also with that schedule. They did go on the road and best Nebraska. So they can play in a hostile environment. However, the disparity in talent and the super hostile Autzen environment will make this difficult for Illinois. OBD's need to play their game, play clean but mean and end any hope of a CFP invite for them. GO DUCKS . ...........

Oregon Ducks Football: No.1 Slot DESERVED?
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The beauty contest for ranking and or ratings are clicks and views for sports show host and podcast know it alls. They mean nothing to this fan except conversation pieces. When i go to a tv, radio, or podcast show I choose to have someone dictate there point of view. Cowherd, Joel Lay an Egg Klatt, out of his mind Fine whatever are knowledgeable but they go over the top to create controversy. We have vurtually no rebuttal to their bias or nonsense. When I come to this great site, well i get to safely express my view point. And read and reread all of your posts. Then comment or nicely be refuted. It is fabulous. Even thru a DUCK BIAS LENS..... As others have mentioned we just need to play the games. OBD's are in the drivers seat now and have 5 games in regular season to prove they are number 1. With so much upside for improvement, the return of key players and a playbook to unfold this fan likes our chances to reach 12-0. Rematch with Buckeyes and on to CFP. GO DUCKS.....The Illini have bad intentions and need the full Autzen experience.....I envy those who can still attend the games live. It is truly a one of a kind experience. -
Oregon Ducks Football: No.1 Slot DESERVED?
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Alex, Oregon certainly deserves the current NO. 1 Ranking, for now...... After 2 mistake filled games ro start the season, OBD's won but fell to 8th in the polls. Part of why they are now #1 is because the teams above them lost. in the last 5 games we have seen incremental improvement on both sides of the ball. With the O Line rotation settling down and giving DG the time he needs to make the correct throw. This team play improvement gives this fan confidence that the Ducks can hold this top ranking and make the BIG Title game. OBD's should be favored in every game they play, however, no sub par or mediocre performances or they may fall from #1. However, as long as they win and make the BIG Title game thats all that matters. It's not where we are today but where we end up finishing. I hope Duck fans never act like the Longhorn fans did after that call. Fans need to carry intelligent perspective. Fan function is to support the team, make as much noise as possible and enjoy the game... Key word = GAME........ GO DUCKS.....give Illinois a solid thumping and a taste of Autzen noise. -

Oregon’s Secret That Nobody Talks About…
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Charles your article has alot to ponder and unpack. I agree that the upside is enormous in all 3 phases of the game. That potential is unseen by many and can certainly be the Ducks secret weapon. The best is yet to come for OBD's.... Navigating a 16 or 17 game season is unprecedented in modern college football. It will take its toll on many teams thru the expanded CFP. Hopefully our Ducks can sustain good health thru their Natty run. The season is only half over. The Ducks potentially have 10 or 11 games left to play, if all goes well. The talent and depth on this roster along with the continued improvement should continued to carry the team thru...... To this fan it is important that the Ducks stop leaving points off the board. This has the potential to cost them a game, especially against Michigan, Illinois and Whisky. I don't want to be a downer but those lost points could have cost OBD's the biggest regular season win in school history..... At the Duck 28 yardline the Buckeyes were well in range to kick a 45 yard field goal and win that game. All Chip had to do was run a QB keeper for a better kicking angle and kick a winning field goal. There would have been no PI call to move them out of range. The BIG officials are not big on calling PI. They didnt call PI on the first Duck play in the MSU game. They missed a few in the tOSU game. They missed 2 PI calls on usc's final drive in regulation. Those calls helped PSU stay undefeated. In all cases the announcers were questioning why PI was not called. OBD's were fortunate to get that call, even though it was obvious. Anyway this Duck team has it all in front of them now to legitimately make a run at the Natty. They truly have shown very little of the plsybook. And have a good defense improving into a great difference. HOW EXCITING IS THAT? GO DUCKS.....its a 1 game season so get it done at Purdue..... -
Coach Lanning's "Simulated Pressures"
HappyToBeADuck replied to OregonDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon Ducks I believe Burch would have made a big difference. The 2 sophmores played well but Burch is an experienced baller who is simply a beast. A full grown man who has not been contained in his last three games. Great players elevate the entire team. JB may not be KT but he is coming into his own. He will be a big suprise for the NUTS when we play them again. -
Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
HappyToBeADuck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is diappointing but not at all unexpected. tOSU, Michigan and PSU have climbed the mountain, reached the top and planted their flag. The national pundits have sung there praises. They serve the masses not the minority. As we know OBD's has not reached thecpinnacle. I feel confident the Oregon Duck Flag will be planted soon. The proof is in the pudding and expect the neglect, disrespect and abuse until the Ducks win a Natty. The best thing the Ducks can do is continue to win.Put up 50 plus on Purdue and shut them out. Then come home and take Illinois to the woodshed. We had a great weekend, won a big game and now must back it up. We could have lost that game just as easily as we won that game. We took the pole position and not much more. Back this game up in December and change the narrative. GO DUCKS.....beat Purdue soundly! -
Oregon Ducks Football: Gabriel’s Biggest Strength
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Alex you make some great points in your article. DG was poised under pressure, accurate and led the offense with confidence. He made the smart reads and timely decisions he should given his experience. He was cool under pressure as Charles mentioned and a Big game QB as OregonDucks pointed out. However, this Duck fan needs DG to perform like this in average games against lesser opponents. Going 12-0 or even 11-1 depends on DG bringing his A Plus Game, every game the rest of the season. If he does then the BIG title is with OBD's reach. None of this would have been possible for DG without the improvement and play of the O Line. The O Line play since the 2nd half of the BSU game keeps getting better and make all these wins possible. The real hero of this game was the BIG referee who had the courage to call offensive pass interference. BIG refs swallow that whistle on PI. Not just in our games, ask usc. 2 non PI calls on the final drive saved PSU's undefeated season. So thank you to that ref. Another hero is Chip Kelly. Once the Buckeyes got that ball inside the Ducks 30 yard line and 1st down, he could have run the ball for position 3 times. Gained a few yards, ran the clock out, used their last time out and kicked the winning field goal. That play call allowed the PI call that pushed them back. The rest is history. GO DUCKS....Play like every game is a BIG TIME GAME.....lets handle Purdue...... -
Well most all fan bases play the what if game when they lose a big game.....or shoulda, woulda coulda..... I sure fall in that position at times. Maybe some of you do, too? I put Buckeye fan more in the denial stage with usc and washington. They live on past glories and have an entitlement expectation. It has been a long time for the trojans since they played on the field like a blue blood. Take away last years husky season and it has been like NEVER were the dogs a blue blood. Since OBD's beat tOSU in 2021 have the Buckeyes had a signature win? 3 straight losses to Michigan! Yes they beat Penn State but so does Michigan. They get CFP invites sometimes because they are a blue blood. As a fan i too would feel entitled. OBD's did something that PSU hasn't in awhile, beat tOSU. Change is difficult and last night the potential tidal wave that is Oregon came ashore. Lot's of football left to play for this tidal wave to either sweep thru or crash and burn. The 4 BIG Final drive hosts and commentators were very positive toward the Ducks. They took care of business on the field. If you dont have the BIG10 Network i highly recomnend it. Respect is earned and OBD's took step one last night. Six more wins to get that shot at the BIG Title GO DUCKS....handle Purdue.....
