  1. P.S. You cannot see it on mobile, but on laptop and especially on desktop...you can see a wonderful picture in the background of No. 2 Gary Bryant scoring his touchdown. It is very hard to find the right photos that fit, as you'll note the football is on the same level as his face....which never happens, and is perfect. His positioning is to the right, thus the ad won't pop up in the middle of his face. (at least on my desktop) And the photo by Scott Kelley is looking upward with the celebrating crowd behind, and not at eye-level which has cement wall background, the sideline, etc. And to add to it--we have had massive issues with the new platform uploading photos, and I think we have a band-aid on it for now. Fun stuff, that makes it special.
  2. 63-10? Wow. I don't know where Cig finds these guys, as we all knew about Mendoza, (and he was MUCH better than at Cal!) but the players on defense, in particular pass-rushing was just jaw-dropping to me. If anyone coaches offensive linemen well, it is Coach Bret Bielema, and his team got tore up yesterday with a ton of sacks....like I can hardly believe. The skill players at Indiana just zipped past Illinois, and the precision of their passing game was impressive. Between the JMU transfers, and all the transfers that came in after last football season....Cig has a very smart, old team made primarily up of seniors. This has become a very tough game in nearly three weeks, but we can worry about after next Saturday. I just thought I'd give the warning after a 63-10 destruction of No. 9 Illinois by Indiana yesterday. Wowsa.
  3. The final score was 41-7, and we had two very close predictions: TerryM9 predicted 42-6, (as he always does) for only two points off. But ArkieDuck predicted 42-7 and was only ONE POINT OFF! We don't have many contests that are this close, and our congrats go out to ArkieDuck for a great week. So much fun, and thanks to all for being a part each week. Congrats again ArkieDuck!
  4. Since there is no one dominant team out there...I feel that Oregon has as a good as shot as anyone. We have talent and depth, but to me...we still have a ways to go. Our defense can be run on, but the points given up are not that much. But it is not elite...yet? Dante Moore throws a ton of very accurate throws, but misses some that he shouldn't--right? And c'mon...how do you get up for Beavis? But we could be fully ready by the end of the season...
  5. Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! I have made a major change in how we will moderate our GameDay threads. Bottom line, is that you will be allowed to spew your frustration, to vent, as you wish. But Note the Parameters: --This is for GameDay threads only; you have to behave in the regular forum threads as in the past. --You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. Remember how we discussed this upfront in this thread. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!
  6. A ton of very good games today to keep an eye on...
  7. Funny, but it WAS found in a closet at Mac Court...
  8. 2027, and receiver? No problem...
  9. Rutgers looks smaller on defense, but has a pretty accurate QB. Iowa is rounding into form, but not many play-makers, IMHO.
  10. BTW...wasn't he one of those who wanted it changed originally?
  11. He has written this twice in the past week, that he ready to move back to Civil War, from Rivalry Game. He cited a history professor who acknowledged that one side did, in fact, fight the war to continue slavery, and the other side fought to end it....and won. He feels that 1) that is how it should be considered, and 2) Nobody actually thinks of the real Civil War when we refer to our football game. And ESPN GameDay is doing a short clip on the return of the Platypus Trophy, so watch out for that Saturday morning.
  12. What I meant was....if they each have one tiebreaker, and the third one is a tie? First entry wins. Thanks for the heads-up, as I need to rewrite that and make it more clear.
  13. 30Duck predicts... (He has a tech issue, and will be rejoining us soon) Oregon 56-14 3 TOs 2 Sacks 267 yards passing
  14. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction of Oregon versus Beavis? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. We Have Two New Rules: If two winning scores are the same, and each wins one tiebreaker with a tie on the third tiebreaker? The first one who posted is the final tiebreaker to determine the winner. TerryM9 gets 42-6 locked in every time as his. (I love this guy!) Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 48-13 2 3 251
  15. 30Duck brought this up on the phone; a bye for Penn State, after playing three cupcakes, doesn’t help them. On the other hand, playing Beavis has dubious value, as an intersquad scrimmage would be tougher. I think the Bye is worse, but I’m curious if other Duck-Buddies feel the same? So he posed that question to me—which is worse? The Bye or Beavis?
  16. This one is longer, but explains a ton using Oregon's Jamaree Caldwell as the example for defensive line performance. Good stuff!
  17. This first one is Jon Gruden explaining "techniques" on defense, and is quite helpful.
  18. It is fine, but please....EVERYONE check your post when done. Are sentences broken up? (Like Yours) Do you have huge spaces below your final line of text? We can all edit our posts within an hour of posting; click the three dots in the upper right corner and click on "Edit." Simple!
  19. Amen Duck-Brother...now I know that Scott Frost is not popular here, but when he was receiver coach...our WR blocking was superb, and really helped spring explosion plays. The perimeter blocking this year is the best since then, IMHO. And yes...having a Bubble Screen as part of a RPO goes back over a decade with Chip... TAKE AND GIVE: Oregon’s Bubble Zone Read Philosophy (From 2013)
  20. Gotta love how he referred to the students in Corvallis as, "Aggies." Historically, Never Quite Good Enough...
  21. I am curious as to what others want from the team in this game against Beavis? Sure, win handily, get the young-guns some playing time....but what would YOU sell the team on in preparation for this game? My theme would be "Precision," as we want great technique applied, and when done--the results will be great stops on defense, and great blocks that create explosion running plays. Precision on running passing routes, precision in delivering the ball...thus it is not outcome-based, since we know where that is going, but based instead on the process? Thoughts?
  22. Here is the latest from a pay-site... "At the moment its just a deep hip bruise or hip pointer. Even if for some reason he doesn't play this weekend, which appears likely he will play, but even if they are precautionary he will be good to go for Penn State."
  23. It is amazing to think that "Animal House" was meant to depict the mid-60s, and this episode actually happened about a decade earlier.
  24. My FishDuck Friends, this story above is wonderful, and was written by Bob Prall at current age 89, recounting his time as an Oregon student. So many references to a time when things were a bit more pure, and a story that is just good fun. Do pass this one along to your Oregon State friends, as I'm sure they will enjoy it too. Charles
