Diamond Ducks Beat St. Mary's 6-3!
3-2 Ducks after just one inning. Toby Twist got knocked around, thus the Gaels got a few runs. Alaskan catcher Coen Niclai surprised Oregon fans with a double that went deep to the left field corner, and then Drew Smith walked. We were rescued by Anson Aroz, who blasted a three-run homer to give us the early lead. C'mon Toby!

Romero's Historic Round Powers Ducks Into 36-Hole Lead
Romero's Historic Round Powers Ducks Into 36-Hole Lead GOLD CANYON, Ariz. - Sophomore Kiara Romero fired the lowest round in Oregon women's golf history on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional, carding a 10-under 62 to surge into the individual lead and move the No. 5 Ducks into the team lead after 36 holes at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. Oregon will enter Wednesday's final round at 5-under par for the tournament, four strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma State (-1). The Ducks are 23 strokes up on No. 17 Auburn for fifth place and 25 shots clear of sixth-place Cal State Fullerton, with the top five teams after Wednesday advancing to the 2025 NCAA Championships (May 16-21) in Carlsbad, Calif. Romero made an incredible 11 birdies against just one bogey en route to a 10-under 62, besting the previous program record of 9-under 63 set by Cathleen Santoso in 2013-14. She also set a new course record at Superstition Mountain, breaking the previous record of 63. The 2025 Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Year, Romero will enter the final round with a four-stroke lead over Arizona State's Patience Rhodes (-8) in the individual race. "Just an unbelievable day today for Kiara," head coach Derek Radley. "To shoot the lowest round in program history and a course record in an NCAA Regional is truly amazing. That was one of the single greatest individual rounds I've ever seen, and we needed it. She really carried us today and put us in great position going into the final round." The Ducks are looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 14th time in program history and fourth time in the last five years. A win in Gold Canyon would be the second NCAA Regional victory in program history, joining the 2021-22 team that won the Pac-12 Championship and the NCAA Albuquerque Regional before going on to finish as the national runners-up. "It's important that we stay aggressive and don't get complacent," Radley said. "We need to keep our foot on the gas and go out and finish this thing strong tomorrow. I'm excited to see what the final round has in store for the Ducks." How it Happened: The Ducks opened the second round on the back nine and Romero got off to a sizzling start with three consecutive birdies. After a par at No. 13, she ripped off three more birdies in a row to get to 6 under through just seven holes. Romero would make par on No. 17 and No. 18 to make the turn at 6 under, quickly seizing the individual lead after starting the day one stroke back of the leaders. A birdie at No. 2 got Romero to 7 under, and she quickly bounced back from her lone bogey of the day at No. 3 with back-to-back birdies at holes 4 and 5. Romero added another birdie at No. 7 to get to 9 under, putting her in position to tie the program record, before sticking her approach shot tight on No. 9 and tapping in for birdie to set new UO and course records. Romero's 11 birdies in Tuesday's round alone are more than any other player in the field has made through 36 holes this week, and her 15 total birdies for the tournament are six more than any other player. Romero has also been the top player in the field in par-3 (-3) and par-4 (-6) scoring. Freshman Tong An shot par-or-better for the third straight round, making three birdies and three bogeys for an even-par 72. She gives the Ducks two players in the top 10 in a tie for eighth at 1 under after carding a 1-under 71 on Monday. Freshman Suvichaya Vinijchaitham came in with a 1-over 73 and sophomore Ting-Hsuan Huang rounded out the counting scores with a 3-over 75. Team Leaderboard (top five advance to NCAA Championships): 1. #5 Oregon — 289-282 — 571 (-5) 2. Oklahoma State — 287-288 — 575 (-1) 3. #8 Arizona State — 286-290 — 576 (E) 4. #20 Mississippi State — 291-294 — 585 (+9) 5. #17 Auburn — 289-305 — 594 (+18) 6. Cal State Fullerton — 304-292 — 596 (+20) 7. California — 303-296 — 599 (+23) 8. San Jose State — 306-295 — 601 (+25) 9. Sacramento State — 307-298 — 605 (+29) 10. Virginia Tech — 304-306 — 610 (+34) 11. Navy — 299-313 — 612 (+36) 12. Quinnipiac — 322-313 — 635 (+59) Ducks on the Leaderboard: 1. Kiara Romero — 70-62 — 132 (-12) T8. Tong An — 71-72 — 143 (-1) T17. Suvichaya Vinijchaitham — 74-73 — 147 (+3) T24. Ting-Hsuan Huang — 74-75 — 149 (+5) 64. Darae Chung — 79-85 — 164 (+20) Notable: Romero has now shot par-or-better in 16 of 17 rounds this spring, going sub-70 in 12 of those rounds ... Romero leads the Ducks this season with 22 par-or-better rounds and 14 sub-70 performances ... Romero's 15 birdies through two rounds gives her 117 on the season, just one shy of the UO single-season record of 118 she set as a freshman in 2023-24. Up Next: The third and final round of the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional will begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday, with the top five teams at the end of the round punching tickets to the NCAA Championships.

Diamond Ducks Beat St. Mary's 6-3!
Game summary at the bottom of the thread! ----------------------------------------------------------- Whoa! They list the starting pitcher for Oregon as Toby Twist? He was the No. 1 left-handed pitching recruit out of California two years ago, was injured about a third the way into last season, and this is the first time we've seen him this year! He only pitched 15 innings last year, and had a 4.60 ERA when he had the injury. We NEED another pitcher to emerge, and hopes it works out for him... - Annoyed with the Darn Ad at the Bottom of the Page?
You know...the ad that elevated from the bottom of the page to where it became hard to publish a post? (Green arrow below) You had to click the little arrow each time to get it to lower...(Red arrow below) It was a pain on desktop, pad AND mobile...and I finally got the advertising platform to remove it. They told me how, "it makes much more money, and it is easy for the readers to move it downward." Yes, and it inconvenienced every reader on every page, and they finally deleted it when I bugged them. The heck of it is...we had it before and I had it removed, but they brought it back without asking me. They get a cut of revenue, hence why they give me grief. We make less, yes. But if it drives people off--what good is it? Besides, it annoyed me to no end, which means that it had to be doing so to others. And if anyone is so inclined...we do have a "Donate" button at the top of the page! Do consider it, to help me make up the loss. Just an update, and THANKS to all! Charles- 5-Star QB Jared Curtis Picks Georgia over Oregon
This was a "good-or-good" scenario to me, in that I think that when it comes to the QB position--an experienced one through the portal might be the best way for Oregon...- Holy Crap! Oregon Moves Up to No. 5 in the Nation per D1Baseball...

Good gosh...that is it?- Holy Crap! Oregon Moves Up to No. 5 in the Nation per D1Baseball...
From a Duck view, one thing is evident; the rankings people really respect Oregon State, thus Oregon's four-game-sweep of Beavis swayed the pollsters quite a bit. The OSU rankings dropped, but not as much as I thought a four-game-sweep would have, hence their respect for the program in Corvallis. Considering our position presently...I'm thinking that if Oregon wins six of the final eight--winning the two B1G series, but dropping one game in each....I believe we have a Regional to show for it. If we were to somehow sweep all eight games--we would have a real shot at a Super-Regional hosting. Plausible? Another homer for Mason Neville...- Holy Crap! Oregon Moves Up to No. 5 in the Nation per D1Baseball...
Wowsa. In the most popular rankings, the one used by the NCAA where they state their rankings are, "Courtesy of D1Baseball," Our Beloved Ducks have moved up to No. 5 in the nation. Ol' Beavis is No. 10, UCLA is No. 18, and a team that I predicted would eventually be ranked...USC, is now in the Top-25 at No. 25. Oregon's RPI is No. 30 with Warren Nolan, and No. 24 with the NCAA rankings. Baseball America has Oregon at No. 10, Oregon State at No. 15, and UCLA at No. 24. USA TODAY has the Ducks at No. 10, OSU at No. 12, and UCLA at No. 14. I will have a post later this week about what we need to do for a shot at the B1G Championship, but the ranking discussion above pertains to hosting a Regional, and possibly even a Super-Regional. All three rankings have Oregon well into the top-16, which is needed to host an NCAA Baseball Playoff Regional, but if Oregon wins nearly all their games remaining, a Super is a shot... Oregon plays on Tuesday and Wednesday vs. St. Marys, and the Bastard Huskies at PK Park, (this weekend) then a final series at Iowa. The final two weeks are going to have drama! Stay together, and get it done Ducks!- Softball: Ducks are B1G Champs!
The key thing is, with the loss by the Bruins today, it made Oregon the outright winner of the Big Ten, and not sharing the title.- Ducks Edge Michigan State 3-1 for Series Win & Can Now Exhale!
Ducks Seal 11th Series Win with Sunday Victory EAST LANSING, Mich. — Jason Reitz pitched 6.1 innings of one-run baseball as No. 6 Oregon won its 11th series of the season, beating Michigan State, 3-1, on Sunday at McLane Stadium. Reitz was dynamic, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out four. After giving up a hit to the Spartans' leadoff hitter, the junior retired the next 12 batters he faced. The Ducks (33-13, 16-8 Big Ten) were able to provide some run support early, scoring once in both the second and third innings before Anson Aroz added an insurance run in the ninth with a solo home run. All three of Oregon's runs came with two outs. How It Happened: Michigan State (24-21, 10-14 Big Ten) got its leadoff man aboard and moved him to second with a sacrifice bunt. Reitz was able to pitch a ground ball to shortstop, keeping the runner on second, before getting out of the inning with his first strikeout of the day with the count full. With two outs and a full count in the top of the second, Maddox Molony reached on a hit by pitch to bring Burke-Lee Mabeus to the dish. The freshman swung at the first pitch he saw, ripping a double down the left field line to score Moloney from first. Jason Reitz at Michigan State In the third, Parker Stinson singled to right field and was able to advance to second thanks to a throwing error by the Spartans' right fielder. Stinson moved over to third when Jacob Walsh grounded out to the first baseman, then scored the Ducks' second run of the day on a wild pitch. After Reitz retired 12 batters in a row, Michigan State was able to get the leadoff man on base with a single up the middle, but Mabeus sent him back to the dugout, picking him off at first. Reitz pitched another ground ball and a strikeout to get out of the inning unscathed. The Spartans led off the sixth with a double, moved the runner to third on a sac bunt, and brought him home on a sac fly to left. Reitz faced the first two batters in the sixth, allowing a leadoff walk before getting the out on another sacrifice bunt. Cole Stokes entered in relief with one away and a runner on second but left him stranded, retiring the next two batters. With runners at first and third and two away in the eighth, Stokes tallied his third strikeout of the day to keep the Ducks in the lead. Aroz then doubled the Ducks' advantage in the top of the ninth, crushing his 13th home run of the year down the left field line. Seth Mattox came in to pitch in the bottom of the frame, retiring all three batters he faced en route to his fourth save of the season. On Deck: The Ducks return to PK Park on Tuesday for the first of two games against Saint Mary's (6:05 p.m., B1G+).- Ducks Edge Michigan State 3-1 for Series Win & Can Now Exhale!
I also have to do a "shout-out" to Carter Garate, who had three sensational plays at third base where the his athleticism and speed to the outs by the smallest margins. One was a bunt that he barely got to in time, picked it up with one hand and whipped it to first for an out. Another was barely getting a bouncing hit that looked it would get past him, but he whirled around and snagged it on the bounce on the backside of his glove. He then spun and fired to first in one motion for a blockbuster out! Really impressive... Doing the "whirl" against Beavis...- Ducks Edge Michigan State 3-1 for Series Win & Can Now Exhale!
Oregon got VERY fortunate with the use of their pitchers. The first game was only Grayson Grinsell, and in the second game it was only Collin Clarke and Ian Umlandt for the duration. In this game we saw Jason Reitz go 6.1 innings, Cole Stokes only go for 1.2 innings, and Seth Mattox close the final inning. This is crucial, as the Ducks have a two-game midweek series with St. Marys before taking on the Bastard-Huskies beginning on Friday. Having rested arms for the midweek is happening, and Oregon is lucky that all the pitchers did a great job this weekend. Our pitchers are improving at the RIGHT TIME!- Ducks Edge Michigan State 3-1 for Series Win & Can Now Exhale!

Ducks win 3-1 as Anson Aroz blasted through the cold air to clear the fence, and Seth Mattox came in and got another save for Oregon to easily put the Michigan State batters down.- Ducks Edge Michigan State 3-1 for Series Win & Can Now Exhale!
2-1 Ducks after eight innings. Oregon is living TOO dangerously, as it takes so little for Michigan State to win this game. Stokes plinked a batter, and then gave up a hit. But he came through with runners on the corners to keep the inning scoreless. - Holy Crap! Oregon Moves Up to No. 5 in the Nation per D1Baseball...
