2024-25 Ducks Players Entering the Transfer Portal
Charles Fischer replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
After two-three years....possible. But after only a season? Two of them a decade ago? Lanning has built such depth already? Incredible... -
My brain is so wired about Our Beloved Ducks these days, that I am really pondering some off-the-wall stuff. What if we had a B1G away game, and they wanted to start put us in the noon or 12:30 PM EST slot. It would be on TV, and because of the attractive time and because it is Oregon...it might be an option someday. I recall in 2014, when we played Wyoming at home, and the start time was actually 10:00 AM, and people tailgated with Breakfast Burritos and Cinnamon Rolls. But again, my question is an away game on TV that starts at 9:00 AM or 9:30 AM PST....are you in?

In Canzano's mailbag today--this was disclosed about the crappy network we have been a part of. Even reruns will end June 30th... On one hand, I am wistful thinking of all the games on it in the past, yet thinking about being on FIVE TV stations and streaming with the B1G? Sorry Beavis, you are LEFT BEHIND...

Live Updates from Oregon's 2024 Spring Football Game
Charles Fischer replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As if I don't have enough tech issues, my conversion software is now acting up...and I cannot pass along a digital copy until next week. But I can give you links to YouTube Highlights and the full game. (I would click on "Watch on YouTube" as the view will be much better.) -
Does Oregon Finally Have Depth at Quarterback?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Amen, and thanks for the article giving us perspective and how many seasons have been lost due to the lack of an adequate backup QB. AJ Feeley gets hurt in 1999, and the backup comes in and never gives up the starting position. That's what you want! AJ Feeley, WR Coach Chris Peterson and Joey Harrington -
For those who watched the beginning of the Oregon Spring Game telecast, the interview with Nick Aliotti was quite interesting. Keep in mind that he was our Defensive Coordinator for 15 years, and ran things through our glory years and the 2010 Natty appearance. He recruited the Buckners and the Armsteads to Oregon, and since then as a Pac-12 Analyst--he has a close eye on the Ducks and has inside access that few do. He told us that "this is the biggest Oregon team I've ever seen." These are powerful words, as he was not just mentioning the starters, but the depth stacked up behind them in the trenches, as well as the height and length of the wide receivers and defensive backs. This took me back hearing this, as this was not an idle comment and he knew he was being listened to by thousands. What we are feeling is being confirmed; Lanning is creating something never seen at Oregon. If not a 'Natty, then we are headed to a perpetual presence in the elite of college football, although I would like to think the final prize is within Dan's reach. Did I read too much into that, or are my Green-Colored Bifocals trying to look too deep?

Big Recruiting Bump From Spring Game to Come
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
When you consider that it was raining Saturday morning--which would discourage some from coming, and we still had around 40,000 for a Spring Game? The groundswell of interest might be bigger than we thought, as the season tickets selling out was a surprise too. Autzen will be ROCKING this fall! -
Bryce Boettcher to Drop Football, Focus on Baseball?

Nope. Fractions of ones... -
Bryce Boettcher to Drop Football, Focus on Baseball?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I do not think he has MLB potential, but then--I did not expect this jump in improvement this year. But at least with Baseball he is a starter who has made many Sportscenter-escue plays in center field. -

The announcer of the game, Rich Burk, dropped how he talked to a coach who believes Boettcher may just play baseball now. Bryce made a big jump on the diamond this year, and hit another homer yesterday. He is a starter for Coach Waz, while would be a back-up for football. Note also he did not go back-and-forth between the Spring Game and the Baseball series in Corvallis; he was all Baseball. Well, it would free up a football scholarship!

Big Recruiting Bump From Spring Game to Come
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And because that was a fun spring game for the 40,000 fans in so many ways--they'll come back next year and help continue a great recruiting environment. Lanning is killing it! Come to Oregon... -
Apparently a number of recruits were wowed last weekend... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The environment was amazing and I loved every bit of my time there.” (He is the No. 2 prospect in the country at his position) “You can really feel the culture of the program!” He has official visits to Oregon and Kansas State set for June. “Everything excites me about the Ducks!" “The environment had a home feel to it for sure.” “The whole staff is welcoming all the time and I feel pretty tight with everyone on staff. What really excites me is how I feel like if you really want to come in and help the team, you could have a good chance to play. Also being able to play in offense like that. Checks every box.” “Oregon is different.” “A lot of resources. Fan support is crazy. (They had) 40,000 at spring game. Looking forward to the official visit in June.” The Ducks are battling Miami, LSU, Georgia, Florida and Florida State to sign the five-star. “I could see my son playing here,” the elder said. “No distractions this far from home. School and football." “Coach Lanning seems to be a genuine person who is about the players. His staff is very engaged with the recruits and their entire family. A lot of resources and they made sure it was pointed out.”

Does Oregon Finally Have Depth at Quarterback?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Many of us can recall other seasons where not did the back-up QB prove to be insufficient, due to injury we actually went three and four deep with great despair. I believe at one time in 1991, we were either on our fourth or fifth QB that season, and due to poor play behind center--Oregon had an embarrassing season. Having this many QBs could save a season, no doubt. Oh, how we wish we had that depth for other seasons in the past! We could not recruit better than Lockie? -
Ducks Beat Beavers in Baseball 7-1
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
SIDEARM Integrations GODUCKS.COM Kevin Seitter took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Mason Neville homered twice in Sunday's 7-1 victory. -
Oregon lost the conference series 2-1, but salvaged a victory today. We have a chance to even things with the Bastard Beavers on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at PK Park in a non-conference game with them. Kevin Seitter only gave up one run in seven innings, and Ryan Featherston finished off the win! Good gosh, the coaches have been patient with Mason Neville and he has really come on. Today he went 3-5 with two home runs to generate the bulk of the scoring. More information coming, but you can look at the box score right here before the official press release is posted.

Gushing Green: B1G Network Gives Ducks Lots-of-Love
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Bringing in Hampton to assist Lupoi was a very under-rated or unknown move. It shouts to your great point... -
Completely agree. Between NIL keeping good players around, and the portal allowing the rich to get richer....we will have epic football games to watch nearly every Saturday this fall.

From their B1G Show last night... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Big-10 can't wait to welcome Oregon, as they are considered by many to be a preseason favorite to win the B1G." "After a loss to Georgia, Oregon went 22-4 under Dan Lanning and never lost by more than four points, thus they were in every game and will compete for the B1G Championship in year one." "....To keep that culture together in the portal era? It's something special. Lanning also had a top-2 (in B1G) recruiting class. He's right up there with Ohio State and Michigan with getting premier players, and I think Lanning will be like that for a long time." "This team is not going to take a back seat to Ohio State or Michigan with their skill players that we saw on display. Whether it is contested catches, whether it is absolute ropes being hauled in by fingertips or great moves from the running backs and wide receivers. They will not take a back seat to anyone with the ability of their skill players to make plays with things break down." "I can see Oregon with that offensive scheme putting up some big numbers against some traditional powerhouse defenses in the B1G." "Dan Lanning cut his teeth on the other side of the ball. Oregon is aggressive, but they don't take a ton of chances and make a ton of mistakes on defense. Lanning, from that Nick Saban tree, knows how to call a defense." ---------------------------------------------------------------- I have three reactions to it; first I appreciate their observation of what Oregon has done on offense, and how they recognize how we are loaded for this year to score among the nations best again. Second...their observation about out defense is correct; we take chances on defense, but they are lower risk while trying to create a play or turnover. For example our simulated blitzes may send only four, but the offense does not know where from, thus pressure can occur. And, when we run a corner blitz, it is usually from the short side of the field, so that we can run a zone coverage over there, and have the safety cover the wide-out. Even Lady Gaga knows better... Third...(above) somebody has to tell them how to say "Eugene, Oregon." It is not YOU-gene, but you-GENE with the emphasis on the second syllable. Geez.

Surprised at the Oregon QB Room?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If you win without running the QB much, I’d prefer that, and lower the offensive risk profile. We have quarterbacks and receivers that can beat other teams by simply being patient in the pocket. Let’s win that way! We averaged over 340 yards passing last year, with only three interceptions, and that shouts to a very efficient (Will) Stein offense. -
Surprised at the Oregon QB Room?

In a pinch...I think we could win games with Novosad. -
When asked why the Chargers would blow a No. 5 pick in the draft on an offensive tackle, (admittedly a very good one) Harbaugh responded with how he views the offensive line as a weapon. "They are the tip of the offensive scoring spear." I have not been a Harbaugh fan in the past, but I gotta love that quote. (And Justin does too!)
-
The stats on Franklin were that he dropped one in every ten passes thrown at him, and the rumors on other boards is that he bombed the interviews with NFL team executives. I think I have to simply rejoice that he is reunited with Bo in a pass-happy offense.

I am pleasantly surprised at the improvement of many players and position groups. It is evident that serious coaching and growth is taking place among so many of the young players. Defensive Line: Ben Roberts, My’Keil Gardner and Teitum Tuioti were young-guns who made plays yesterday in a big way. (Biggest position group surprise to me) Wide Receivers: No surprise with Junior Adams group, but seeing Justius Lowe and the newbies Jeremiah McClellan and Ryan Pellum make plays pushes this WR group further. Quarterbacks: The best QB room since the 1998 season, (26 years ago) which featured Akili Smith, Joey Harrington and AJ Feely. All looked they could play well for us... Running Backs: Jordan James has taken another small step upward with his receiving skills enhanced, and Jay Harris looks very comfortable catching the ball or running over tacklers. Will Stein likey this...

Ducks Lose 4-2, and Civil War Series

OSU leads 4-2 after 8 innings.
