Whoa! That was a very late night, (morning) with writing my article, dealing with photos from the FishDuck credentialed photographer, and getting the game digital copy done. I probably had too many tasty Oregon IPAs, drank too late without enough water. I feel like crap this morning; was that the craft beer, or the late night?
Oh yeah. It was my mourning about this team.
One good thing? They say even bad publicity is good publicity? As long as you are in the public eye? Damn...the Ducks are going to be the "talk-of-the-town," and not for the reasons we want. A ton of eyes are going to now be watching for..."what went wrong?"
Anyway, there are SO MANY savvy football fans in this community, and I am so impressed with all I read. With your eyeball test based on prior Oregon teams, and what you have seen of the CFB season thus far....where do YOU rank the Ducks?
It will be interesting to compare our predictions to what comes out later this week.
Now technically, this is not where I think we will be ranked, but my eyeball test puts us at about No. 19 in the nation...even if we get an actual higher ranking.

I've looked at USC teams the last several years as the glamorous, flashy team that had preseason hype, rankings and 4 and 5* players all over. They could just show up and win without preparation and discipline. The first two games look like this to me.
Amen, Duck-Brother. When I see the former 5-Star defensive ends get hooked inside, and lose edge defense...

The Oregon player would get caught inside of the TE instead of playing off the outside shoulder, so he was sealed off.
Great observation. I was aghast at the weakness of the force defender on many plays. Hyped up guys who were not performing.

Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game!
The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us!
Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks.
Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!

It's a insidious business strategy to pick up just one thing that each household can't live without throughout the year and eventually you have everyone signed up, and human psychology will keep them subscribed unless they go on a lower my bills mission.
I think they will win the war. I still don't care, they aren't getting my money.
I understand, but my philosophy is different. I pay SO MUCH for all the equipment, all the time, all the donation and tickets, all the tech help....everything, because my Duck-Obsession is 24/7/365, and this is simply part of the life I want.
I am not going to deny myself the pleasure of Oregon sports to spite a faceless company that does not care. Thirty years of Xfinity has taught me that, as in the end--I am the one losing, and not seeing Our Beloved Ducks.
My love for Oregon Sports is greater than my hate for these companies...in the end.
Besides, if we take that logic to its full conclusion? We should not be watching, ANYTHING, NO GAMES, because it is all through Fox, one-way-or-another, and they were the instigator who brought down the Pac-12, and who were behind last week's blackout.
We should be boycotting Fox, but again, my love for Our Beloved Ducks is greater than my hate for all of these disgusting, detestable companies. That is saying something considering the stories I have about terrible Comcast service with over 30 years of dealing with them at home and at the office.
It's all about the Ducks, Man...

@Charles Fischer - EXCELLENT article.
Any concerns with OL position coach(es) at this point?
Too soon to tell?
The recruiting in this position area lags every other position group on the team. I need to see more of the season, but having Mike Cavanaugh there to assist is massive in my mind. Great O-line coach...

Thank you Charles. That was one of the most fascinating football articles I have ever read.
This makes my-world-go-round. A compliment like that is the best that I could hope for...THANK YOU.
You know how when you embark into a project without knowing what the time commitment is going to be, and when you look back--you doubt you would have started had you known?! Well this one was a ton of hours, and got sidelined creating this other analysis when all the examples came up.
My gut feel is that it is one of my better analysis articles over the last 13 years primarily because I am trying to answer the questions that fans have, and I had going into the project. It was worse than I thought, and that one play...the name just came out accurately as, "The Worst Blocked Play EVER," and I should have qualified it to Oregon.
When people like my work, it justifies my effort. Since I no longer have a spouse...that is all I have to justify the time spent to!
My sincere thanks again.

Canzano had the tidbit below that ruined my lunch before I even ate it...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oregon State Athletic Director Scott Barnes said some interesting things this week. He’s adamant that the Pac-12 was still a “Power Five” conference. He believes that college football will one day split from Olympic sports, as Chip Kelly once suggested.
And Barnes thinks it would be “ridiculous” for Oregon State to stop playing the Civil War rivalry in all sports, given that the schools are only 44 miles apart.
Said Barnes: “There were a lot of fans that didn’t want to play that game, but if you walk in the locker room and ask the student-athletes what they want to do — they want to play that game.”
Above all, Barnes indicated that a plan was in motion.
“It’s like last year or anytime we announce a schedule,” Barnes said, “we wait for all the contracts to be buttoned down and in the hopper before we make an announcement.”
Yes, and about that 30 Million they are
taking from Oregon over 10 Years,...
...What Does Beavis Have to Say About THAT?

This could be not be understated how important this is....as it is from a DucksWire article in another thread and published this morning.
Status: Questionable
Reason: Knee injuryBedford returned to practice this week after missing the Idaho game, and Dan Lanning said he is optimistic the big offensive lineman will make his Duck debut.

Wow Charles. What a breakdown. For someone like me who is not anywhere near as knowledgeable of the offensive line as I'd like to be, your review is so valuable.
Thank you, but there is so much about football I do NOT know, but being an old offensive tackle....this was in my Wheelhouse!

We will disagree on that, and it is fine. Keep in mind that I ran the videos in slow-motion. In game speed--Dillon had NO TIME at all to get the pass off, IMHO.

in Our Beloved Ducks
So many years of disrespect, and now I believe we are being given TOO MUCH respect in the polling. Wowsa.
