If the guards do not come back from injury--we got problems, but the issues with the other O-Linemen are not only correctable, but they have proven themselves wonderfully over the last three years. My Duck-Buddies...something I forgot to add, (as it was super-late last night) is that the offensive analyst Mike Cavanaugh was a fantastic offensive line coach who is assisting A'lique Terry. I am sure he will have much more input this week, and we will see dramatic improvement.

The two players who would have filled in at right guard are both recovering from injuries, so the coaches move Poncho to guard--where he played most of last season in reserve--and rolled the dice with Pickard.
I can't second guess the coaches on that one, because I am not at practices--they know their personnel.

My Duck-Buddies,
This analysis above is one of the better and most time-consuming ones I have created over the last 13 years. While it looks long, the videos are only 15 seconds, and it is easy reading. I believe many will learn at least a little about football, as well as what went wrong.
I and so many volunteers give a ton of hours of work to provide this site free of charge, and create articles like this. Would you take a minute to post the link on your Social Media? Email the link to the analysis to your friends today?
It would help them going into the Boise State game, they would learn a little about Oregon football, and it would help us here be able to continue this labor-of-Duck-Love on everyone's behalf.

What is your prediction versus Boise State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it...
Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below!
Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count.
Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers:
--the winner--the score
--the amount of turnovers Oregon creates
--the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team
--the number of passing yards by the Ducks.

As an old offensive lineman...your suggestion, David, makes logical sense. But in practice--it can be tougher. Yes, I could play both sides, but I was better on one side, I LIKED one side, and now translating every play to the other side with different steps and timing--it is hard.
Not to mention pass protection; a player simply might be better on the same side consistently, as they are accustomed to repelling the defensive line techniques.
I understand they flip players around, but this may not be the solution...even if it does make sense.
Tomorrow I will have my own offensive line analysis with what I see as the problems, and what we can do to overcome them.

Agreed. I may be guilty of expecting too much and too soon. Last year....Tez Johnson really did not get going until the second half of the season, and then went wild. This might apply here...

We will disagree. Based upon what I've seen of his arm, and prior Oregon QBs...those were missed opportunities. That is, if you have your feet ready; if you have to set your feet and throw--the opportunity is lost, IMHO.

Great post, and unfortunately....he is still learning-on-the-job. Saban and Smart had a learning curve, and so does Dano, and apparently in an area we did not anticipate.
It is unfortunate, that like Mario...he does not learn quickly. How many times does he have to fail on 4th down on his side of the 50 yard line, and help the opponent?
This might be the same. Dano might be pretty smart, but stubborn to a fault. As an old Greybeard-age fan, it is frustrating to watch coaches have to learn stuff that we as fans have witnessed and learned over the years.
