Sleepy Ducks Oust Cougs in Autzen
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We did really well against him considering what he did to us last year, what Drake Maye and Tyler Shough did against us as well. This is why coaches like dual-threat QBs, as they really stress a defense. -
Sleepy Ducks Oust Cougs in Autzen
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think you make a valid point about Washington State, Ryan, in that the Cougars have almost been as troublesome as Stanford has been over the long term, inexplicably....for the Ducks. At times, I too question an occasional play-call, but then I forget about the great plays and assume they are supposed to happen. To have our offense perform as it is with four new starters on the offensive line, and two new starters at receiver with a 33 year old OC who is still learning what he can do at this level...?? No! Count our blessings... -
Did I hear Husky fans booing when a play didn’t go their way?

It's good to scout out two opponents in advance...

PittDuck correctly predicted the 38-24 score, and in his prediction post he wrote..."Not sure why I keep doing this, I am seldom even close!" Well, my Duck-Buddy...you got as close as possible! I wish I had a prize, but know that we all congratulate you. Thanks to everyone for having fun with this, and note that my having the first opportunity at a guess has not helped me at all!

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
To be on national television again is fantastic! -
Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!

Good gosh...six minutes left in the third quarter and it is a 10-6 game with the Buckeyes a nose in front? I would hope we can do better than that in B1G country next year. And it is not even November yet!

2024 Duck Football Commits

I was trying to convey that he is not on our radar any longer--available or not. We moved on from him a long time ago because we like who we have. All three corners below are rated much higher... Oh brother...the player below in the tweet pulls a USC hat from an Oregon box with the Trojans touting how they beat out Utah and Oregon for this corner. The truth is...Oregon offered him over a year ago, but decided to go another direction (Like Dakota Fields) and this Isiah Rubin had not even been to Oregon with an official or unofficial visit. They gotta pretend any win they can get over the Ducks... It's pathetic and sad, but this is where USC fans reside right now. The real decision was between Colorado and USC...good one Trojans! Next Year: Ready for 9:00 AM Games?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
How do the coaches feel about it? John Canzano asked Chip Kelly... JC: What would you change about college football itself? CK: “No night games. College football should be played on Saturday afternoon on every campus in this country like the old days. The tradition and history. As (former Oregon defensive coordinator) Nick Aliotti used to say, ‘I want to get up, touch our toes and smash.’ I don’t want to wait around because that’s the time slot we have. Let’s get up and play ball.” -
I am planning to record and check into the Ohio State vs. Penn State game, and noted that it has a noon kickoff EST, thus 9:00 AM for us. It got me to thinking about the blockbuster away games coming up over the years versus the Buckeyes, PSU, Wisconsin and Michigan. They will probably start at the same time, thus we will be watching on TV as we are still in our morning coffee? What about when they play here at Autzen, and it is a big game....will they make OUR kickoff at 9:00 AM to fit the window for the biggest audience? (Makes sense?)

Oregon’s Recruiting Record: Lanning Has a Shot…
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
With all that I discussed, I never did give a prediction… Coach Lanning WILL break the recruiting record with the 2024 class! -
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Washington State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 41-20, 3, 3, 278

The Oregon Ducks Offense: The Texas Cross
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thank you Coach Boles for showing us that going for it was not flawed, as the criticism towards Stein is undeserved. This is one time that Bo messed up, and with all he has done for us--we have to forgive his mistakes. The reason though, you take the damn points, is because of all the variables--such as QB error that can take place. (or WR error, or OL missing a block, etc.) This is who Dan Lanning is; he will win games being aggressive, and he will lose more games for the same reason. He has lost three games in a season and a half this way already... -

Ducks Football: 3 Areas to Fix vs Washington State
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dan Lanning will win some close games by eschewing the field goals and going for it on 4th down, and he will absolutely lose some more games because of it over his career at Oregon. Why? Because with all that has been written about "his aggressiveness" and "aggressive nature" by the media--it is now part of his brand, his persona. With all he has said about it and effectively doubled-down...he will go for it every time, and the percentages over the long term are against us. We will win some, and lose even more games because of this, IMHO. Take the damn points, Dan. -
My Duck-Buddies, We all had questions coming into the season, and most centered around how good new offensive coordinator Will Stein would be, as well as concerns about the offensive line and their young newly hired coach. Oregon now has the No. 1 scoring offense in the nation, and is in the top ten in both rushing and passing nationally. (Can you get any better balance than that?) Coach Stein is not perfect, as has been pointed out in this forum--and I agree that some of the calls could have been better, but Bo did miss a TD with Holden, some blocks were missed, etc. Bottom line is that this is about as good a start for a young OC as you can get. If "Greatness and Weakness Emerge Early" as one pundit claims, then Oregon is in for great scoring years ahead. There were BIG questions about the new offensive line coach and whether the new offensive line could challenge the high-bar set last year. As for me? I am very pleased with our start; again, not perfect, but there are over 100 teams in the D-1 that would like to be in our position. Mr. FishDuck ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Press Release to Credentialed Media) NEW YORK — The Oregon offensive line has been named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, which is given annually to the most outstanding offensive line unit in college football. The Ducks are one of 23 teams on the midseason honor roll, and one of three Pac-12 units along with Oregon State and Washington. Oregon was a semifinalist for the award in 2022, when the Ducks led the nation with just five sacks allowed. Through six games in 2023, the UO offensive line is the top-graded pass-blocking team in the nation by Pro Football Focus at 89.6. The Ducks are also the No. 1 rushing team in the nation according to PFF with a stellar 92.8 grade. Oregon is tied for fourth in the nation with just four sacks allowed, and tied for ninth with only 24 tackles-for-loss given up. The O-line has helped the Oregon offense lead the nation so far this season in both scoring (48.5 PPG) and total offense (553.3 YPG), and the Ducks are one of just two teams (LSU) to rank in the top 10 in both rushing (8th, 221.67 YPG) and passing offense (9th, 331.7 YPG). The Ducks have started the same five players along the offensive line in all six games, and have combined for 90 total knockdowns. Jackson Powers-Johnson leads the team with 19 knockdowns and is the top-graded pass-blocking center in the nation by PFF at 90.0, allowing just one pressure in 230 opportunities. Right tackle Ajani Cornelius has also surrendered just one pressure, and is tied for eighth among all FBS tackles with an 87.8 pass-blocking grade from PFF. Steven Jones and Jackson Powers-Johnson Let's count our Blessings!
