  1. I think this is a great article for "why not" here at Oregon? Everybody would win!
  2. Great point, and so true. I am very happy for him and the team that he has turned into such a reliable resource. We will need him at crunch time in the future, and technically--he kicked the wining points versus Washington State this year too. (44-41)
  3. Please keep in mind two points this is all brought up...1) when something is taken from a pay-site, I wait 24 hours before discussing here. People pay for the right to that information to be immediate, and thus I wish to honor what those sites are doing. Their subscribers who want to eat up new information will read it over there inside the 24 hour period. 2) Byron has not left, and is still practicing with the team. This means that he WILL have four games to play in and yet retain a redshirt year. (I do not know if he has been on the field yet) So in case of RB injury or dings, Cardwell is available to help the Ducks yet this season and raise his NIL profile with a future team. Or he wins his spot back with the Ducks. Having fresh legs in relief from a proven RB can be quite an asset at the end of the season?
  4. I was surprised to see Bridges start the season, and continue to start, as I thought for sure that Manning would win that corner spot. Even with the burns--Bridges has been improving and I think the coaches have decided to take their lumps with his learning curve. I also believe his length is a major factor because of the tactics behind this defense, considering what their objective actually is. Much more on that in my Thursday article where we can discuss fully at that time.
  5. A day ago...someone was asking about Cardwell on another (pay) Oregon site, and a number of people were offering their guesses. Then the owner chimed in, (who makes a living on having inside contacts) and confirmed the different theories. Byron got hurt, but upon healing could not move up the depth chart. After seeing the running backs here, and the Mississippi RB coming...he is practicing, but not playing and thus preserving a redshirt year. It is assumed he will transfer at the end of season. Like you, I penciled him in for a 1,000 yard year, but we can never guess what will happen at times.
  6. Damn right. This feels magical, and it is so fun soaking it in each week. So much drama, so much fun! Just as we wistfully look back on 2010, 2012, and 2014....we could be doing the same toward this year my Duck-Brother. Completely agree. How cool is that?
  7. If you are a tight end....how could NOT want to play in this offense? Whew! Ferguson, McCormick and Herbert are glad they came here...
  8. As someone is geared to the opposite of you, (NOT the engineering type) ...I am quite delighted to hear your thoughts. Makes me feel that much better because some areas are in my wheel-house, but not this.
  9. There could be other elements going on: 1) They do not resemble the linebackers Lanning had at Georgia, as Nakobe Dean, the star, was only 217 lbs. Lanning wants lean, fast, athletic LBs that can cover, rush the passer and talented enough to hold up to the run game. We don't have the prototype he wants for our defense yet. 2) They may not be as good as we thought? The Bruin TD out of the backfield, was slow recognition by Flowe, when he was clearly responsible for the RB release on that side. Then he actually slowed up, and then put on the jets too late at the edge. This is inexperience, IMHO. I've already detailed how Sewell was responsible for two TDs given up to Stanford. He went to Flowe's gap...and Flowe was already there, while the 'Furd RB ran through the open gap that Sewell was supposed to be at. Then, Sewell was slow to recognize a wheel route and did not have the wheels to catch up. 3) We might be in the process of implementing a defensive strategy unseen at Oregon before. See my Thursday article on it, as I am working on it right now. I think it might be a touch of all three?
  10. The 5-Star OL who verballed to Iowa might be rethinking things about now...
  11. Lanning is creating something special here and Dilly can see it. At only age 32...it would behoove him to stick around at least two years to truly soak in how to run a program. And you never know--if the NFL comes calling for Lanning, (and I believe it will once he finishes the job here) who would be first in line to succeed Lanning? Dilly. But this all depends upon a ton of winning first, so since we have learned from the CK years that these things don't last forever...I am going to enjoy this while I can.
  12. Good gosh, did we dodge a program-destroying bullet! The mood is much different in Eugene!
  13. There are so many things going well, so many I did not anticipate...whew! Gotta count my blessings!
  14. I felt coming into this season that witnessing the Lanning team might flip a player or two verballed to other schools. I've gotta think that any offensive lineman would want what Oregon/Klemm is selling, as an old offensive lineman--I would love this offense! (And the coaching) Right now, Dillingham is selling results to recruits, while Lupoi is selling hope. Lanning has coached a championship defense, and is building one here--a project in the making. I would like to think we will flip at least one recruit verballed elsewhere, and I'd love it to be an offensive lineman. For those who follow recruiting...any others you love to see come to Oregon that are currently verballed elsewhere? A proud offensive line, and rightly so!
  15. If he was not on offense, he would have the perfect statue for low leverage as a Nose Tackle on defense. And he is a 4-Star with Rivals! Beat out Florida, Miami and Tennessee for him. (In spite of NIL and you-know-who)
  16. I don't think evolution will happen that fast, but his offense may trend that way! Is this below related to the dinosaur concerns?
  17. Amen. Another one of him (below) is my screensaver on one computer--I so love what is happening for him.
  18. I like that, as “The Kick” signifies a new era for Oregon football! Right?
  19. I am not going to think about other teams right now, but enjoy Our Beloved Ducks. If the Big House was that cool....why is the (arguably) nations best HS QB coming from Michigan to Oregon?
  20. As I wrote in another thread....Dilly has only been here seven games and we're discussing his departure? I am going to savor this special time, and enjoy the scoring and not worry about the negative until it actually comes...if it even does.
  21. The lesson did not need to be that bad, but it sure helped a young team to see what a great one is--and by contrast our "tough" games in the Pac-12 are nothing like the Bulldogs. I agree with you. And CalBear95...this is your week?
  22. He's only been here seven games; I won't write him off so quickly, and at minimum....I am going to savor this while I can and not focus on the negative.
