  1. I completely agree, as you can see and feel the commitment to learning, to growing. THAT is how we can turn into a conference champion over the course of the season, and it is so refreshing to see! We don't need to get more physical, we need to grow!
  2. Amen, as we all are. I am pleased and perplexed... Wrong more often than I'm right...very hard to predict!
  3. This is that time of year when I often come to the realization that Our Beloved Ducks are not quite as good as I hoped. Right now I am pleased with the growth of the offense, and frankly, pretty surprised at the weakness on defense. At this point to me...we look like a good team, but we are not a great team. Could we be a great team? Absolutely, but not without more growth on defense across the board. The other element is the development of other teams in the conference, and I will admit to being impressed with the coaching taking place at a number of locations. We have some tough games coming up in-conference. We are not a NC contender, IMHO, although with vast defensive improvement....could we make the Playoffs? Right now my goal is to improve to be a legit top-10 team, and that would be a pretty good accomplishment for Lanning's first year. If we don't get better on defense...we could lose three more games. Will we improve? What are your thoughts about where this team is at right now?
  4. How surprised and delighted are you with Oregon's newly found passing attack? It is no longer involving just the running backs and tight ends, as now the wide receivers are a big part and the attack has taken a turn to the exciting. I love the balance; long passes, crossing passes, flair/bubble passes being distributed to all offensive skill players. Passing for 446 yards? The scoring days are back! The development of Nix is an equally compelling story right now, as he went 33/44 or 75% completion rate? Holy crap! Over four games he is passing at a 72% completion percentage, (96/132) and is a good 10 TDs to 3 interceptions. With all that has been written at FishDuck and here....who saw a 72% completion rate coming? I am grateful to see it from a couple of angles; first, it is a ton more entertaining than Pistol-Plunges and as this last game proved...there are times you have to win by scoring a boatload of points because the opponent is scoring easily. Bo, Dilly and this offense has given us the confidence that Oregon can win shootouts too. Are you as surprised as I am?
  5. We have three objectives with the 'Feed: 1) Provide the one place that is free to everyone to get the news/articles about Oregon Sports, and 2) we are not bringing them all to you, as there is massive redundancy among all the sites. We curate the best of each Duck topic and bring them to you, in addition to the major news that all Oregon fans should be informed of. The final one, 3) We are bringing the tasty topics and tweets that can copied and brought to the main forum area for discussion with this wonderful community. We will restrict the number of articles to the FishDuck Feed to under 50, thus it may be 40-something, or the Focused Forty articles and tweets to be aware of for each day. News and articles updated throughout the day!
  6. He is not a great offensive line coach either, IMHO, but he is a great recruiter of players and coaches.
  7. ...was GODUCKS15 who predicted 38-35 and had the right margin, and was closer to the actual score than Chuck Duck at 17-14. Congrats! Ready to celebrate?
  8. One of the long balls went the other way on us, but the WSU QB Couged-up the same mistake fortunately.
  9. They are incredibly well coached; a massive talent discrepancy on paper, but overcome by scheme, coaching and desire. I salute them, as they are going to be tough on the rest of the conference!
  10. I am very grateful that Cota wanted to return, Dilly and Coach Adams wanted him, and that I was completely wrong. We fans at times...
  11. I am blown away at all the long balls thrown and completed today, as it means so much for the offense going forward, and for how it complicates preparation by our opponents. Franklin is rounding into a star, and Thornton came up with a big one today! Hutson was so close...I cannot convey how excited I am to see the long-ball back in the Oregon arsenal. Think this was WSU related, or will it be a regular part of the game plan? Bo Nix about to throw a 55 yard bomb to Kris Hutson... And a biggie....
  12. Who was the idiot on this forum who said that pass-protection would be Oregon's weakness?
  13. We're at 39.50 points per game, a big jump over the coach who lost to Middle-Fricken-Tennessee today. Oregon is on the right track! An emerging superstar receiver?
  14. I was not quite that comfortable! Oregon had to make a ton of plays...and they did. But for WSU to score over 40 points and lose?
  15. My FishDuck Friends...we have a ton to discuss, so let's do it in new threads! Thank goodness it was the Cougs!
  16. This is an interesting question posed to him... Q: Am always curious your thoughts. If you were a betting man would you put the over or under on Dan Lanning matching Mario Cristobal’s tenure at Oregon? If you were the sports book in Las Vegas where would you set the over/under line? — @ShelbySRice A: Cristobal took over as Oregon’s head coach for the Las Vegas Bowl at the end of the 2017 season. He was really only in Eugene for four seasons (48 games as the head coach). Lanning’s three sons have moved around a ton in their early years. Also, Lanning’s alma mater (William Jewell College) is not a threat to poach him unlike Cristobal (Miami). I raised this longevity question a couple of months ago with someone in Lanning’s inner circle, who told me, “I’d bet he fulfills his five-year contract and then some — if they’ll have him.” For that reason, let’s set the over/under at five full seasons. And I’ll take the “over.” Canzano: Mailbag deals with big games, Amazon, and Pac-12 ploys WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Your questions... my answers. Wow!
  17. The short attention span is very real; it is something we deal with on the forum and how we structure our FD articles. It is only eight seconds for the typical web reader, and the average attention span for a Goldfish is nine seconds!
  18. I would like to think that if Lanning had already been here, and they could see what the defense was going to be like--the defensive players above may not have left. I don't fault Robby at all...
  19. I agree with all of the praise given to DZC, considering that he wrote that article while laying on his back! What a passion for Our Beloved Ducks!
