  1. I had one fellow about two months ago tell me that I was the equivalent of Joseph Stalin, because I would not allow him to insult anybody who disagreed with him with impunity. Then I guess I am guilty as charged! For those of us on the forum, being nice to each other comes natural, whereas for these others… I don’t think it does!
  2. Completely agree, and their fans have been very classy, and very nice here. I would like to think that they will be our favorite team to watch among SEC teams...
  3. As you can imagine, I do get some pushback from new members, those accustomed to being nasty on other sites. One recent new member emailed me to say that my rules looked they were right out of a Stalin-Playbook! That made me LOL...I am compared to one of the world history's most depraved killers of his own population because I insist on civility? Whew! I cannot tell you how many of you tell me to "stick-to-my-guns" on the rules, and in fact just yesterday a new member who has posted great stuff told me precisely that on the phone. I love our community, it is not large and our ways don't appeal to the majority of people, and I don't want to. We are an exclusive group, not by subscription, but by behavior. BTW...I just ran the numbers on the forum since we began in late September; over 35,000 posts with a deletion rate of only 1/3rd of 1%! So many people agree and want to live this way as well, and come this fall--we are going to have a blast during football season! I don't think of myself as Stalin...maybe a different leader?
  4. A few years back, I received a package of stuff that a kid wanted autographed by Justin Herbert, and this was just after he was drafted. Why he sent it to me...I don't know. But I sent it on to the Chargers!
  5. Marshall was such a tremendous receiver, and I recall the cool TD in the 'Natty....
  6. We all get fooled, and it was cool he could admit it.... Canzano: There's an imposter in the outfield WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Autographs are dicey territory for a sports fan.
  7. It will take some time to find an identity at Oregon? Hmmmm.
  8. I love the matchup possibilities Seven presents, but I do worry about injury with him. I believe he needs to be used primarily as a receiver, and sparingly....
  9. And....we will have the link to ESPN+ later in the week. I like Todd, and he is killer on the stats, but this is how they think up there.... So he says, "so you must think that Basketball Tournaments are wrong as well, Charles?" You could tell by the tone of voice that he thought he got me on that one. I told him,.... "yeah....basketball conference tournaments are a crock....just another way to scam another team in after 20 conference games? How dumb is that?" He says,..."I could not disagree with you more, Charles..."
  10. I just got off the phone with Todd Miles, the Assistant AD of Communications for Baseball. He acknowledges there is no money in the tournament, and that in the end...it gives the Pac-12 a chance to get another team into the NCAAs. So I asked him, "just because everyone else is scamming the system...that means we should?" He said that yes.. if it gets another conference team into the NCAAs. He said that now, for the first time, the nation is watching Pac-12 Baseball during conference tournament week, when nobody did before. I said, "baloney, as everyone is watching their own team and their own conference and is not watching the Pac-12. Win in the NCAA tournament, and that will make them notice." When I asked about the pitchers getting their arms burned out...I got the same answer about everyone else having the same issues over that week in other conferences. When I told him that if a team wins the Pac-12 tournament that shouldn't....that will downgrade the best teams in the conference. Oregon moving up would come at the expense of someone else, and thus a Top-8 ranking could be lost. He said to me...."I could not disagree more with you, Charles." I'm not getting anywhere with this...
  11. In the Canzano article, he brings up a really good point about pitcher and team burnout from the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament. But what about ALL the conference tournaments? You play a 20 game conference schedule in Mens/Womens Basketball to have the automatic berth go to the tournament winner? You play 30 conference games in Baseball...for what? The only reason I can come up with is...the conference tournament is a scam by all the conferences to possibly get another team into the NCAA tournament? You can't tell me that the gate receipts and TV contract offset the travel costs of 11 or 12 teams? Exposure on TV? Everyone is watching their own conference, their own team--that's it. Helps your ranking? If the top team does not win the tournament...then it gets graded down, and thus the tournament hurts the regular season winner. In the end...Oregon would be hosting a regional, were it not for the tournament. And Stanford and Oregon State were at great risk of losing their high seeding if Oregon and UCLA had a hot day. The pitchers are burnt, and no profit? Why are we doing this?
  12. I think he completely nails it; the administration makes you or breaks you. You can have good hires as Mullens has done, or you can have hires such as USC, Washington and Oregon State for so many years. Many here hate Canzano, and I used to as well. He intentionally stirs the pot on occasion, but most do not remember all the positive articles in general and those about Oregon. I relate to it because I write opinion articles as well, and on other sites...they only remember the negative ones articles I've written, and not the positive ones, of which are the majority. Canzano: Pac-12 in pursuit of national championships... without USC baseball WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM What's up with the fall of the Trojans?
  13. The final one listed had a pretty impressive NBA career, and we had a great article about him on FishDuck. The writer, Jim Maloney, passed away in 2021, and I am very grateful to him for all the great articles about Oregon football, Baseball and Basketball. My thanks, and that of thousands who read your articles Jim! Bio: Jim resided in Ellensburg, Washington where he has had the opportunity to watch former Ducks such as NaDerris Ward and Scott Grady play for Central Washington University, Jim’s alma mater. However, Jim was born in Eugene and attended Howard Elementary School, and what then called Colin Kelly Junior High School before moving to Washington. Jim began following the Ducks during the 1957 season and had the opportunity to watch a number of games at Hayward Field. Over the years, Jim has developed a wealth of knowledge about Oregon sports history. When not editing on Fanbase.com or working in his garden, Jim managed to find time to practice law.
  14. Ten points, my friend, ten points! I don't expect a win, but I do believe it will be closer than most think.
  15. First of all, it is never time to move on from Cristobal as far as I'm concerned! Keeping tabs on him over the next couple of years is going to be highly entertaining, IMHO, and I regard it as entertainment as I would the stuff about the Huskies. So thank you for posting this! This article was written by someone looking to create an article out of quotes...without knowing anything about Mari's time at Oregon. Questioning his recruiting is truly nuts, as one thing I am very grateful for is how he left the cupboard full for Coach Lanning. Comparing the move from a program standpoint is interesting and comforting for Oregon fans to read. But the absence of discussion about his coaching abilities makes that article sadly lacking. If you are going to report what has happened....then report it all and accurately. Sheesh!
  16. The good news is that all five return next year! Ducks Bank Final-Round Experience - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM Oregon saw its season end Monday at the NCAA Championships but learned plenty that will benefit the team a year from now.
  17. Yes, and at FishDuck we have created over 600 analysis articles over the last decade with yours-truly responsible for at least a hundred of them.
  18. He ran it to DJ for a key first down, and unveiled it in 2020 at Washington State throwing for a key for us down. On second thought, that might have been for a touchdown, and it actually might have been first introduced against Stanford.
  19. I think in many of those examples, you were adding this year as a year, when for example the two sophomore tight ends have not been here two years, they played last season and that was it. If we’re going to talk about experience, we have to look at the actual years they played, not the years of eligibility in total, adding a Covid year, etc.
  20. He has not been perfect, but he has done an outstanding job hiring coaches and achieving at a high level for just 19 sports. He made some mistakes with the football contracts, and that is for another time. But he may have just made the "hire-of-his-life" with Dan Lanning.
  21. Ducks open with Michigan in Louisville Regional - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM First pitch on Friday is 4 p.m. (PT)
  22. It is a triple option, and works well with a QB who can run AND throw. Hard for a defense to cover all three options... (Doesn't Bo Nix fit that description?)
