Transferring: Daewood Davis, Jayvaun Wilson...WHO ELSE?
Who are the candidates for transfer? Those two are buried in the depth chart, and it only makes sense that if you are not in the two-deep soon--you will get passed by highly ranked rookies coming in. I noted that Braylon Addison was playing corner for the bowl game? Is that a tell? Daewood Davis scoring...

Moving on Up! Men Ranked 17th, Women 11th in Basketball Polls
The Oregon men are gradually moving up the rankings as they continue winning, and my question is..."how much better can they be?" Dana Altman believes there a ton more upside, so perhaps a top-ten is possible with this team? The Women slipped from No. 8 to No. 11 and will probably slip further if/when they lose to No. 1 ranked Stanford on Friday. Yet I believe by the end of the season--they will be in the top ten again. Pretty powerful conference with Stanford at No. 1, Arizona at No. 7, UCLA at No. 9 and Oregon at No. 11. Whew! Thoughts?

Featured Daily Article: "The Ducks' Surprise Standouts of 2020"
Wonderful article Alex, and I think the impact of Jamal Hill has been underappreciated. If you go back to the end of the UCLA game, the final fourth down pass by the Bruins to win the game was broken up by....Jamal Hill. So if we add that game and the miracle interception at the end of the USC game....Hill saved half of Oregon's victories!

The Ducks’ Surprise Standouts of 2020
In the painful last month of football for Our Beloved Ducks, it’s been tough to see the bright spots in some bleak, bleak team performances. Rotating quarterbacks, disastrous special teams mistakes, losing fumbles and confidence all culminated the season on a dissonant note falling on the collective deaf ears of Oregon fans. But there were some welcome surprises in these ... Read More Source View the full article...

Herbert Will Have a New Coach Next Year
So many ways to address this: As Duckpop22 once said...."Mario Cristobal has held the Oregon offense down better than any defense since Auburn of 2010!"

Daily article: "10 Candidates to Replace Andy Avalos as Defensive Coordinator"
Yes, as we know...the news changes fast, and we cannot know in advance when the best time is to publish an article. I thought (as publisher) that it was a high probability of Avalos leaving, thus why I wanted to publish this article today. (The news could break this afternoon, tonight, in the morning...and when you publish after the fact--it's old. And besides we learned a ton from the article.) And because Coach Boles is first at giving us great options--his article is killing it out there with a HUGE page-view day for the site. (FishDuck) And it is an adjustment to me, as I now have two websites! FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks Forum!

Holding the Referees accountable.
If the Pac-12 does not have a back-up plan in place for officials who test positive, then yes--teams should be reimbursed. The problem is--the money comes from the rest of us! A management problem with the Pac-12 and Pac-12 Officials...now aren't they two-peas-in-a-pod!

Well Deserved: Duarte Pac-12 Player of the Week
OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2020 EUGENE, Ore. – For the third time in his career, Chris Duarte has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the Conference announced Monday. The senior from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, averaged 21.0 points per game on 50 percent shooting (15-of-30), including 47 percent from three-point range (9-of-19) in the Ducks’ weekend sweep of California and Stanford. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. Duarte was at his best in the closing minutes of each game. He scored 14 of his 19 points in the final 5:18 to help the Ducks turn a three-point lead into a 13-point victory over the Golden Bears on Thursday. Saturday versus Stanford, Duarte tallied 11 of team-high 23 points in the final 5:43 to turn a four-point cushion into a 17-point win. This is Duarte’s third career Pac-12 Player of the Week award and first this season after collecting the honor twice in 2019-20. The three POTW awards trail only Dillon Brooks and Blair Rasmussen (four each) for the most in Oregon program history. Duarte is the second Duck to win Pac-12 POTW honors this season. Eugene Omoruyi was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game against Missouri and Seton Hall during Oregon’s opening week of the season. No. 17 Oregon plays at Colorado Thursday night at 8 p.m. PT (FS1).

COOLEST Picture EVER of Oregon Mens Basketball?
OK, maybe not the greatest, but it is pretty incredible for the moment. This picture below by Gregory Fisher of USA Today on GoDucks.com will be gone soon, so we have to savor it. Or perhaps there will be many more of Dillon Brooks and Payton Pritchard?

A COOL NEW FEATURE for the Our Beloved Ducks Forum!
Ever thought about what a hassle it is to find where you left off on a topic when you come back hours later? You don't recall how many posts were in the thread when you left and now you have to "go-fish" (pun intended) to see where the thread was finished when you last were in there reading it? So the feature that I love, the "Unread Posts" feature, is something we all will love. Click on the dot or star to the left of a topic and it will take you right where you left off reading last time! So cool! What is the difference between a star to the left versus a dot? And why do most of you not see a star? Because a star is a topic that you began, and when you have read all the posts--the star is not black, but it is still there in a transparent-kind-of-way. A dot is there to the left of a topic someone else began and you've been enjoying reading through in the past...and now there are new ones to read. Click on the dot and it takes you right to where you left off!

Brenden Schooler isn't too bad
I thought that since he did not have great speed, that perhaps the strong safety or nickel in the Avalos defense would have been a good fit for him. He might have been a good replacement for the loss of Holland!

What IS the Upside of the Mens Basketball Team for 2021?
At times I am so amazed at all the talent, yet not really have a dominating shot-blocker or "big" down low will hurt us later...or will it? Nice article here about the Stanford game as a review, and that game was so tough and it did not look for a number of times for the Ducks. Yet the final score makes it appear they won comfortably and it was anything but that. Thoughts?

Graves, "Learn From it, Grow From it..." (Article)
This is a nice article about the growth of the Womens program despite the loss Sunday. Coach Graves has some great quotes about the game, the players and especially the freshmen in this article. I did not know that Dugalic had back-to-back nine rebound nights!

#11 UCLA @ #8 Oregon WBB
It is losses like last night that will fuel the fire for the upcoming season and tournaments. That game was there to be won, and my goodness there were so many mistakes through the game--so many "gimmie-easy" shots missed and sloppy passes. This will be a great learning opportunity in their film study, and will make them better. It is great to see the light-bulb go on for a freshman when he/she discovers, "I can do this!" For Dugalic, this was that game, and it hints at a high upside....

Rooting for 50/50?? (Shough-Brown)
It seemed that he was simply going by his gut, and Cristobal has shown to not have good instincts on offense, and this could be another example of that. Great to see you post Annie!

3 Things That’ll Get The Ducks Back On Track
I do not think Sean Dollars has break-away speed, but I understand your point that the talent is there--will they be coached up in an overall system that makes sense. It still bothers me that what we built the brand on--was discarded to what is now a mess of an offense. It is all about his pride... Epic post Sherman, thank you.

Daily article: "10 Candidates to Replace Andy Avalos as Defensive Coordinator"
The coaches at San Diego State come from the Rocky Long lineage, and they know great defense. Superb research as I was reminded of a number of great candidates. Thanks Coach!

FOR REAL: The Best Part of Being an Oregon Fan?
Some occasional divergence from the game is fine, but it seems at times he is looking for anything to talk about other than the game. (Have you been to Germany Roxy?) (??!) I especially do not like the way he would pick on his other colleague Dave, and the way he started out doing so with Roxy. But Roxy was able to deflect a lot of it back, (what do you think about that Bill?) and during the whole back-and-forth episode there was a game with amazing plays happening and they reported it only in the most superficial way. But for those that like him--good for you, and I have the "mute" button, so we're all good!

Winner of our Prediction Contest is...
With Iowa State winning by a 17 point margin, the winner would have been Another OD if he/she had only predicted that score. However she/he predicted two scores, and we would all love to do that and cover more bases and hence that entry is disqualified. Iowa State Predicted Winners: Duckpop22 28-20 Winner! FishDuck Featured Article: "Ducks Have Too Many Questions Following Fiesta Bowl"
Great article about the game by the FishDuck correspondent, Ryan Robertson, who was in the Press Box of the Fiesta Bowl and can be read right here. He makes some observations about the defense that I have not noted anywhere else and now I am going to go back and see what he means.

I apologize to so many that have read my many articles about this topic; yes Duckdude, I have stated that many times in articles in the past.

I know Sherman, and again--I've written extensively on FishDuck about how Cristobal wants to do anything other than what worked before.
