  1. Say it's not so Ducks and Beavers. Sunday could be the last day REAL Pac-12 teams compete in an athletic event. It is fitting that this article comes from the team site that started the Pac-12 on its way to oblivion. Is Sunday, June 9, 2024, the very end for all Pac-12 sports? TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM We might have arrived at the very last day of Pac-12 sports. We’ll find out as the day unfolds.
  2. Back in the day, SC had Hall of Famer Tom Seaver (RIP) on the mound and many other good pitchers alongside Tom. USC's program is a shell of its former self. Stanford baseball has fallen off also. And ASU turned out good teams year after year. Seaver transferred in from JC and in his one season at SC, 1965, he went 10-2. A few years back the SEC decided to improve in basketball and baseball. Missions accomplished.
  3. Bummer. The crowd was impressive. The fans were into the game and never down when A+M was behind. Better luck in game 2.
  4. I am not a fan of FPI but I would be fine with Oregon defeating Ohio State in the B1G champ game. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/espn-fpi-predicts-oregon-ducks-win-big-ten-championship
  5. Athlon Sports uses the NFL scheduling model to put Joel's idea on paper. Every P4 team would play 2 other P4 teams OOC. Based upon last year's finishes, Oregon would host SMU and play Texas in Austin. Rivalries such as Georgia vs Georgia Tech, Florida vs FSU, USC vs Notre Dame, etc. would be protected and played annually. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/how-college-football-would-look-with-nfl-style-schedule-2024

  7. No game this season. Gophers trip to Autzen in 2025 and also visit Cal. https://collegefootballnews.com/news/minnesota-college-football-preview-best-players-top-transfers-season-prediction-win-total-2024
  8. A couple of SEC football teams have the easiest paths to Atlanta BAMAHAMMER.COM In the new world of SEC Football, getting to 10 wins in the regular season is almost as important as playing in the SEC Championship Game. Winning SEC Champions With 18 teams in the B1G and 9 conference games and 16 in the SEC and 8 conference games intra-conference SOS will vary widely. This season, Ohio State has the easiest schedule among the B1G title contenders, and Missouri has the easiest schedule in the SEC. The B1G will vary the intra-conference opponents, except for designated permanent opponents, UW in the case of Oregon, every season. I was very surprised considering the disparity in the SEC SOS that the SEC is mirroring the 2024 conference schedule in 2025. Only the venues will change. Mizzou has a back-to-back cakewalk compared to Oklahoma. Georgia will have one of the more difficult schedules back-to-back while Texas' conference schedule is one of the easiest in the SEC. (However, in 2024 Texas plays Michigan in Ann Arbor and in 2025, plays Ohio State in Columbus.) Teams in the B1G and the SEC could be superior to lesser conference teams and go 9-3 instead of 10-2 and out of the playoff. The SEC could be hoist on its own scheduling petard. Boo Hoo, Right?
  9. A B1G reason for Howard transferring out of K State, he wasn't likely to start. There is a lot of young talent in the Buckeyes QB room but it is very young talent. Will any Buckeyes QB be better than McCord last season? QB could be a comparative weak spot for Ohio State this season.
  10. There are many preseason polls. For the most part, guessing what a CFB Top-25 will be when the AP Poll and Coaches Polls are released leads to no accountability for missing the mark. On the other hand, there are gaming entities that have money at risk. Below is preseason betting suggestions. Whether for entertainment only or not is up to you. Best bets to Make and Miss the New-Look College Football Playoff FANSIDED.COM Sportsbooks thrive off of availability of information. 12. Oregon is considered to be a tougher opponent for Michigan than USC. Yes! Will Michigan make the College Football Playoff in 2024? Breaking down the betting odds SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Michigan is expected to be in the mix to reach the College Football Playoff again in 2024.
  13. The B1G's Big Tradition has incoming Oregon on its radar. Bryan-College Station Super Regional: Schedule, preview for Texas A&M vs. Oregon SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Bryan-College Station Super Regional action is set for this weekend with Texas A&M hosting Oregon in a best-of-3 series with the winner advancing to Omaha. Puddles, prepare for some B1G love. Before Oregon officially joins the B1G Oregon is getting more and better coverage from the Big Ten Network than it ever received in the Pac.
  14. Hammerin’ the B1G: Ranking Ohio State’s 2024 opponents by degree of difficulty SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Ohio State's schedule includes a few obvious challenges. What other teams could present a test, and which games will be a cakewalk in the fall? Oregon is a Perfect 10!
  15. Georgia at Texas 10/19/24 coincides with a Grand Prix event in Austin. 4* and 5* hotel rooms are going for 14K to 18K a night!
  16. Nittany Lions? Whiteout or no? Snyder: Get used to Penn State facing complicated White Out decisions WWW.NYTIMES.COM Penn State-Ohio State as a prime-time White Out game sounds like a no-brainer, but Big Ten TV partners have made it a challenging choice.
  17. But a settlement, if approved by the court, will leave many unanswered questions. If NCAA House settlement is approved, smaller schools could take the brunt of the impact WWW.NYTIMES.COM Lower-level DI schools to be "hurt the most" trying to make up for lost revenue. If it sounds like financial Darwinism, it's because it is.
  18. Would The Rose Bowl be The Rose Bowl with the game kicking off at 5:30 PM Pacific on a Monday night? A problem CFB has is fitting its playoff games into the latter part of the NFL regular season and the beginning of the NFL playoffs. Start the season in Week 0, eliminate conference champ games, one bye week in Week Six or Week Seven, and the Rose Bowl could host the Champ game on New Year's Day. But both ESPN and Fox would want a rebate from the loss of the SEC and B1G champs games. I expect the ACC/SEC would want the title game to alternate between the Rose and Sugar Bowls. Why the Rose Bowl should be the permanent national championship game WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The College Football Playoff released its schedule for the 2024-25 postseason on Wednesday with the new 12-team bracket format offering head-scratching assignments for the so-called New...
  19. Lot of questions for the Men of Troy. 3 major USC football questions sure to keep Lincoln Riley up at night this summer FANSIDED.COM There's too much uncertainty to sleep soundly.
  20. Thanks, Mike West. Not so long ago, Michael (Eat) Crow stated: "Behind Larry Scott, the conference is perfectly positioned." Perhaps noted scholar Mike was confused between Larry's behind, and Chaucher's character Nicholas's behind, as referred to in The Miller's Tale (Tail?)
  21. College Wire ranks the B1G as the conference with the second most difficult SOS in 2024. The SEC is, of course, the hardest place to play your ball. 'Iron sharpens iron," right? The 4th out-of-conference game vs, The East-West-North-South Lilliputians is a real iron sharpener. Playing 8 conference games is justified because 'No one plays D like we do in the SEC.' 9/30/23 - Ole Miss 55 - LSU 46 10/7/23 - LSU 49 - Missouri 39 11/11/23 - Georgia 52 - Ole Miss - 17 None of the three games went into OT. 'Iron sharpens iron!' Missouri 2024 OOC Schedule - Murray State, Buffalo Bulls (not Bills,) Boston College, and UMass. Ole Miss 2024 OOC Schedule - Furman (Is Old Trapper the Fur Man mascot?), Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Georgia Southern Auburn 2024 OOC Schedule - Alabama (not Texas) A+M, Cal, New Mexico (Meow, Mexico?), and UL Monroe (Distant cousin, 38 x removed, of President James Monroe.) ESPN's super-secret decoder ring needed Fallacious Proposterious Index has 11 (out of 18) SEC teams ranked in the Top 20, the SEC could probably play six conference games and have a robust strength-of-schedule. The preseason FPI rankings would give us a playoff field with 5 SEC and 3 B1G teams. If playing 8 and not 9 conference games tilts the Playoff in the SEC's direction, then notwithstanding the SEC being the BCS and the 4-team playoff top dogs, the B1G and the B12 will need to step up and be counted. College football’s toughest schedules according to the latest FPI COLLEGESPORTSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Breaking down some of the numbers from the latest FPI. The P4 in my opinion should all play 9 conference games and if Notre Dame wants to stay independent and be playoff-eligible the Domers should play 13 regular season games.
  22. Checking all the boxes. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/josh-pate-reveals-big-ten-oregon-ducks-checks-all-boxes-in-2024
  23. No doubt that the conference needs B1G help. Big Ten baseball continues Super Regional drought with horrific conclusion to regional round SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Big Ten baseball will not make an appearance in the Super Regionals, continuing a drought since Michigan advanced to the College World Series in 2019.
  24. We'll see these guys on 9/28/24. Puddles goes to Hollywood (or, at least Pasadena,) https://collegefootballnews.com/news/ucla-college-football-preview-best-players-top-transfers-season-prediction-win-total-2024
  25. The uprising began in 1984 with Georgia and Oklahoma winning their suit against the NCAA, which ended the NCAA's broadcast monopoly. Then in 1998, SEC commish Roy Kramer convinced the B1G and the Pac-10 that college football needed 'One True Champion' more than these two conferences needed the Rose Bowl. Thus, 'It Just Means More,' the demise of the Pac-12, and the B1G taking a football back seat to the boys from Dixie.
