  1. As I posted on the initial thread regarding Williams' attempted transfer, and as reported by On3, Williams' agent has dropped him as a client. If Williams disregarded his commitment as a result of being contacted by Kiffin and LSU, UW, the B1G, and the NCAA at Tony Petitti's request, if the organization does not have the guts to do so directly, should all go after Kiffin and 'pariah program' LSU for impermissible contact and interference with a contract. The SEC should also go after Kiffin and LSU, but good luck with that. In this case only, I will be rooting for UW. The House settlement was flawed from the start. Many of the entities backing the settlement had no interest in abiding by the terms of the settlement. Many NIL agreements are not being submitted for review and the review entity has no right of enforcement. The idea that revenue sharing would be the ceiling for payment to athletes without viable enforcement in place was absurd. Williams' agent, who resigned, is employed by the Wasserman Group. Founder Casey Wasserman is one of UCLA's biggest boosters and understandably wants nothing to do with this chicanery. Here are viable solutions to fix the chaos off the field as the sport explodes on the field. As noted in the above article, many of the 68 programs that backed the House Settlement have refused to support the Settlement's enforcement provisions. Is Atlas ready to shrug?

  4. When your agent jumps ship ... ☹️ At least one person is concerned about damages from a civil case and damages to his professional reputation. The Wasserman Group, for which the agent works, was founded by UCLA booster Casey Wasserman. Understandably, Casey wants nothing to do with this XXX🤬. Thank you, Mike, for the terrific Orange and Peach Bowl coverage, and thank you, Forum Friends, for the terrific comments. 11. FWIW, Big Ten headquarters, advised by counsel, believes the agreement is complient with any and all rules. Under the agreement, an adult waived his right to enter the portal and the right to demand that UW put his name in the portal. Before signing, Williams understood the terms and conditions of the agreement. He and his advisers were not deceived by UW. What's UW get? Possibly millions in damages and a precedent that supports the concept that adults are responsible for the agreements they enter into. A precedent that teams should be able to rely on athletes signing revenue-sharing contracts with a school will be on a team's roster. It's not like many adults, right Lane, are great role models. But LSU paid Ole Miss the millions of dollars owed in liquid damages as Miami paid Oregon when Mario left. The deal Williams signed with UW is worth between $3 and $4 million for one season of football. That seems to me to be reasonable compensation. Williams being screwed over? Williams and his advisors knew exactly what he was signing. Unless Williams decided to leave on his own, which I very much doubt, people knowingly interfered with a contract. Some of these people are likely among the folks who advised Williams to sign the contract. Interference with a contract has been a civil offense since the days of English common law.

  14. As reported today by Pete Thamel, under the contract, Williams specifically agreed that if requested, UW does not have to put his name in the transfer portal, and he also specifically agreed not to transfer during the term of the agreement. This is in return for a direct revenue share of $3 to $4 million and no restriction on Williams's ability to earn NIL money in addition to the direct payment. The language does not ipso facto lead to UW scoring a summary judgment, but the timing of events and the language of the agreement are now as clear as can be. Williams' best defense is the obvious one: UW says I am not an employee, so can I sign an enforceable employment agreement? Of course, a school that wants him badly enough could agree to pay UW for releasing Williams from the contract. CFB is in complete chaos. Do not expect any help from Congress or from schools acting fraternally. Especially, LSU and Miami.
  15. This is a revenue-sharing agreement with the university. Under the agreement, a player waives his right to transfer until the contract expires, in this case, at the end of the 2026-27 season. UW relied on this agreement. It is now in a position to have to scramble for a QB. BTW, Williams' teammates learned about this on social media. In the case of Wisconsin vs. Miami, damages may be difficult to prove. Not in this case, with a marketplace established for players with Williams' stats. How can any athletic department operate if revenue-sharing agreements across all sports are unenforceable? In Lane Kiffin's case, his contract with Ole Miss had a liquidated damages clause. I do not know if the B1G HQ approved revenue-sharing agreements have a liquidated damages clause. I do know that Williams signed a contract, and agents from other schools contacted him. Poaching is against NCAA rules. If you think a player leaving his coaches and teammates under these circumstances is righteous, then so be it. However, ethics and responsibility to teammates are not determined by NCAA rules.

  17. January 2, 2026, contracts to play for Washington in 2026-27. He's over 18, no parental or guardian signature needed. If teams cannot prevent players from transferring notwithstanding signed agreements, what's to prevent teams from poaching players during the regular season? According to Greg McElroy, 31% of FBS players are in the portal, with more certain to enter before the January 17, 2026, cut-off date. The final 4 players will have additional time to enter the portal.

  22. Here's an update from On3. Within the last week, Williams renegotiated his NIL deal at an estimated $4 million for one season. Williams, who is an adult for contractual purposes in Washington, not "a kid," signed an agreement he is trying to back out of. Shame on him. Shame on his agent. And shame on Kiffen and Cristobal if they are indeed the ones trying to poach Williams away from UW. I see no grey area whatsoever here, and I'm happy the conference is supporting Washington as it is supporting Wisconsin against Miami. On3Demond Williams transfer: New information emerges on Wash....
  23. Correction regarding PO payouts, which are paid to a qualifying team's conference (and directly to Notre Dame 🤮). $4 million for making the field $4 million for teams in the quarterfinals, including teams with byes. $6 million for the semifinals $6 million for the championship game - no additional money to the champion's conference. Note - under the ACC's settlement with Clemson and FSU, Miami will keep the bulk of the PO money. 'Eat what you kill,' postseason revenue distributions to teams, not conferences, will likely be the norm under the next round of media deals. The Big Ten is first up with a new media deal that will be negotiated in 2029 and implemented in 2030. Note: Beginning next season, PO payments will be determined by teams in the field and not by how far teams advance. Beginning in 2026-27, and based upon prior postseason participation, PO revenues per conference are estimated to be $23 million for the SEC, $21M for the B1G, $13.5M for the ACC, $12.5M for the B12, and $2M for the G6. This revised payout formula is another reason why Tony Petitti wants an expanded field with automatic qualifiers, and Greg Sankey wants teams determined by a committee. Under Sankey's plan, this season, Texas and Vanderbilt would have been in a 16-team field, giving the SEC seven teams total and the B1G three. The last two postseason game results indicate that the PO Committee is overratting SEC teams and underratting Big Ten teams. Come January 23rd, we'll see if the B1G and the SEC have reached an expanded PO format agreement or if the field will remain at 12 teams. Under new media deals, media revenue, as is the case in the ACC, will also likely be distributed based on 'Eyes on the Prize,' how many people are watching the broadcast of a team's games. Ohio State and Michigan want this so ... Danno, keep on baking that bread. 🤑
  24. I've searched everywhere I can, but I can find no detailed information on the Big Ten crew for the Peach Bowl, including looking at the CFB PO site. I'm sure that the 'wise guys' betting the game have this information in hand. Frustrating! 🤬
