Fiesta Bowl - Who's NOT Playing?
Good call. FSU is hot and heavy after DJU and Cam Ward. And close to 20 Seminoles players will not be suiting up for the home state Orenge Bowl. Me? I would have showed up with all my teammates trying to defeat UGA and giving an in your faces to the Committee. But I'm an old guy without millions to lose if I'm injured. And with other portal QBs being signed while I practice for and play in a bowl. CFB has to do something in regard to the timing of early signing day, when players can enter the portal and the dates of post season games. As of today, December is a CFB fire drill.

USC Wins 42-28
The so-clled Playoff has made bowl games other than the PO semis and champ game more or less meaningless. But you can bet that they are keeping track in SEC HQ in Birmingham and B1G HQ in Chicago. All hands are on deck for the Rose and Sugar Bowls. I expect with PO expansion in 2024 there will be few opt outs for the PO games.

USC Wins 42-28
No key players for Louisville opted out of the game but it sure looked like they did. Is SMU odds on to win the ACC in 2024? Cal will not be in the running alond with their buddies Palo Alto.

B1G Bowl Season: Will it be Candy or Coal for the B1G?
As Charles notes, the New Big is 4-0 to date with the B1G boy games vs. the SEC coming up. OO update - TN QB Joe Milton will not play vs, Iowa. Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa is out vs. Auburn which IMO tilts the outcome in the direction of the Tigers and not the Terps. Heisman winner Daniels is sitting out the game vs. Wisconsin but there is an experience and talented back up, Garrett Nussmeier (Gesundheit!) behind Daniels who will start vs. the Badgers. USC! A heck of a win last night that helped validate the PO Committee leaving FSU out of the Final 4. Louisville was the No. 15 team in the country? The 2nd best team in the ACC? The Trojans speed and athletic ability was obvious. And the SC D guys actually made open field tackles. Will Howard Who? Shut down the SC Portal QB search? All RS Soph Miller Moss did was go 23/33 for 372 yards and 6 TDs setting a Trojans and Holiday Bowl record on the way to leading Troy to its first bowl win since defeating Penn State in the 2016 Rose Bowl game. USC's 2024 schedule is ranked No. 2 in the nation by SP+. Nevertheless, if Riley can get the play out of his D like they played last night, SC will not be an easy out in 2024. Not only Caleb Williams opted out last night. USC was missing 6 other starters, but easily overcame the Louisville -7 odds to win the game. To date, the SEC is 0-1 with A+M's loss last night to OK. State. Another loss to a team with a lesser roster and to a team Texas beat up and beat down. The ACC to date is 3-4. W - Georgia Tech, Duke, Va Tech/ L - Syracuse, UNC, Cal, Louisville. One of ACC SMU and BC will come out with a loss today when they play in the Fenway Bowl. And I'm not certain FSU will have enough players available to field a team against Georgia in the Orange Bowl. Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames! And GO all of Puddles B1G Brothers!

Bowl game opt outs are getting hard to stomach SATURDAYBLITZ.COM One of the most common themes for bowl games this season, at least those outside of the College Football Playoff, are high-profile opt-outs. Many big-name coll

USC Wins 42-28
This season among the Lefties, yes! And spot on. I think we are about to see how good the Pac-12 was in the Sugar Bowl. And 4-0 for the new B1G so far in bowl season, 2 Ws vs. P4 ACC and B12. Because of B1G bowl tie-ins the real B1G bowl games starts tomorrow. And OK ST beating A+M is nice, Right Paul? Diss Riley but the man had a bench-warmer ready to play. And lots of athletic talent was on the field for SC tonight. 3 terrific TD catches. But the SC run game was still MIA, Yet. a few guys showed up who could tackle.

USC Wins 42-28
And the 'New' B1G goes 4-0 with upsets from Northwestern and SC. A come back by the Bruins and the Gophers TCB in Detroiy. Lots of games to go but the B1G is showing up. And Oregon ups recruiting like Urban did at tOSU and maybe the gap closes on the SEC? Come On UW (gulp) and Michigan. Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames!

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
Come On UW and Michigan. A daily New Year's Day double will help the SEC/ESPN love fest see chinks in the armor. Oregon is blessed heading into the Power 2 but will be more blest if Puddles flies into a national chamo conference.

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
And he also likes an all B1G final which I want to see. Then, if you so understandably choose, root for Michigan. Me, I want a week plus of ESPN talking head talking up the B1G. And I want to close in on the SEC hegemony. I'm hoping that 1/1/24 will be a B1G Daily Double.

Mike Farrell Sports, Is Oregon the Next Football Superpower?
Tune in next season for a Ducks game against the Spartans. Heck of a 3-pete run that came up just short for the Dawgs. FSU next in the Orange Bowl. Will any FSU players be in Florida for the game? No. 5 vs. No. 6 and I'm not certain No. 5 will be able to field a team. Bring on the expanded PO and expand the field to 16 in 2026. Go Dawgs!

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
I definitely share in the sentiment. But in this day and age of CFB I am forced to sdmit that First I Look At The Purse. I want the ESecPN CFB hegemony brought to a halt and only 1 conference has a shot of doing this and it's not the ACC, B12, and the Pac-2. Ah-Choo! On 1/2/24, I want to see Paul crying in his grits.

BREAKING: 4-Star WR Jordan Anderson Decommits from Oregon
I hope the young enoys the MW and playing games on The Where Can I Find It Channel. And a huge NIL deal from The Peacock Bar and Grill will be nice. I want no player who wants to compete at this level and is afraid to challenge himself in the Power 4. Perhaps in a few years, OSU can play WSU 12x a season, call it the Same Old Stuff Pac-12 with a conference champ game in Jackpot, Nevada? Then sue the rest of CFB when the Committee doesn't respond to the SOS and does not come with a PO spot for the SOS. John Canzano for Commissioner assited by the Chief Justice of the Washington Supreme Court. After they blow through the money they stole, what's the game plan? "Boys, go downstairs and tidy up the basement."

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
The Fiesta Bowl will be going against No.17 Iowa vs. No. 21 Tennessee on ABC and will draw a lot of B1G and SEC fans. Thank you Mickey Mouse. And thank you PO Committee for having the wrong G5 team in the PO. SOS matters when you are elbowing FSU out but not when you comapare the CUSA champ with AAC champ SMU.

What If...the Huskies Make Oregon Look GOOD?
I do not think it will happen but I am hoping for an all B1G title game and a B1G win over the SEC and ESPN. A UW title would prop up Oregon and be great for the 'new' B1G. And be a great step toward an even B1gger TV deal in a few years. I do not see Harbaugh beating Saint Nick with a tradtional style O. I see Bama's QB, Milroe, as the kind of QB who could confound Michigan and I do not see the same out of McCarthy. My hope for Michigan was seeing all the rush yards that Auburn, a team with a lower level QB, put up in the Iron Bowl. I do see UW and DeBoer taking down Texas in a combative game. I think the UW OL will hold up against the pass rush and UW will exploit UT's good not great DBs. Having a healthy J. McMillian back with Penix throwing the ball gives UW the best passing attack in CFB. In early odds, Bama would open at -2.5 to -4 vs UW. I see Saint Nick bringing home another trophy.

Dreams or Reality? Can the Pac-2 Become a Power-Six Conference? Paid Like It?
No. There is a Power 2. A Lesser 2. Notre Dame and everyone else. The Pac-2 is paying money to the MW for football games, without a chance to compete for a MW title, and is in the WCC for other sports. The WCC is Gonzaga and a bunch of 'Others.' These 2 will drop further off of the nation's radar and when the money they purloined runs out they will be right down there with San Jose State. The two had one-sixth of the conference voting power when the conference crashed and burned. Anyone remember these 2 making a stink about one bad business decision after the other. You reap what you sow, especially in the world of capitalism. The marketplace told these two undercapitalized and poor performing entities to get lost. If the 2 dropped football would anyone outside of Pullman and Corvallis notice?

Fiesta Bowl - Who's NOT Playing?
OT - But The Hits Just Keep On Coming in Seminole Country. This kid is missing the chance to audition vs. Georgia. Either a very smart or very stupid on the part of his agent. FSU's Rodemaker entering portal, won't play in Orange Bowl THEATHLETIC.COM The redshirt junior took over as the Seminoles' starter after Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending left leg injury. Didn't the Orange Bowl, especially it being a game played in Florida, used to mean something? Can we please just skip to 2026, and a 16-team PO field with the first 2 rounds played on campus and 4 bowl games players will suit up for? You have a chance to put it in the face of the PO Ct against SEC UGA and you leave your teammates in the lurch? SMH. This is not a guy risking an injury that will derail his going in the first 2 rounds of the NFL draft. Man, this Stuff keeps getting more difficult for an old-timer to understand.

Hawaii Game In Doubt?
What about the game vs. UCLA the following week? Is it on? Cynic alert. This sounds like a veiled plea for money. I can't imagine (well, maybe I can?) Rob not building in a cancellation payment for a cancellation with so little notice. Before they became B1G buddies, Ohio State paid UW $500K to cancel an H+H series. This left an opening for UW to schedule the court-chicanery Cougars. Unless UH decides to go the way of U Chicago, I wouldn't cancel any travel plans. Not too long ago UH played in the Sugar Bowl behind current HC, OB Timmy Chang. Chang is in the bottom rung of G5/P4 HC salaries at $600,006.00 a year.

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
This will be rectified on 7/7/24 in Autzen. (Unless Rob gets the Blues and decides to move the game to Boise.)
