  1. WOW! The last vestige of control on transfers is G-O-N-E gone. Managing a roster in CFB is exponentially more difficult than in the NFL. Another reason why NFL-Lite including pay-for-play, an HS draft, possibly a salary cap, and negotiated restrictions on transfers, will be here sooner rather than later. Lose a few of the big-time suits that are out there and the NCAA will have no recourse but to file BK. This and Baker's proposed pay-for-play are both raising the flag against the attorneys and the NLRB.
  2. Man, The Truth hurts! If he only had more experience as a head coach, he'd learn from his mistakes! 74-72. 3-3 in bowl games. He is the definition of a Mendoza Line head coach.
  3. 1 game, but he certainly delivered vs. No. 3 Texas in the Red Rivalry game including a sterling late 4th Q game-winning drive and overcoming a blocked punt that resulted in a Texas TD. My concern heading into 2023 was the OL. The OL was a Joe Moore finalist. In 2024, my concern is the DL. Lots of ballers leaving Oregon. I have very little concern regarding the O side of the ball including the all-important QB position. Even 'very good' QBs like McCord at Ohio State will not win championships. This is why Ryan Day showed McCord the door. OBD, we have a P4 All-Conerence QB coming on board. A guy who beat out Quinn Ewers, one of the favorites for next season's Heisman Trophy, for all-conference honors. Under Stein and with the supporting cast on O, I think Gabriel not only produces as he has in the past but also improves. As for starts by a QB, I'm not great in math but if DG stays healthy it's in the numbers.
  4. Miami transfer QB Van Dyke will likely be the starting QB for the Badgers when Oregon visits Madison. Kid was the ACC Frosh of the Year at Miami and then went downhill when Mari(o) arrived. Former Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke transferring to Wisconsin - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, a three-year starter for the Miami Hurricanes, is set to transfer to Wisconsin, he announced Tuesday.
  5. Manny, son of a mayor of Miami, had Miami headed in the right direction. He did a great job with the Penn State D turning it into one of the best in the nation. Recruit like Mario. No. But IMO he is far better game day coach. It will be interesting to see if Manny can follow the success of Elko, a former All Ivy League CB at Penn and returning to A+M where he was the DC, at Duke. Thanks for the post. Off the wall coaching thought. If Chip is fired it will not be before his buy out goes down in about a week from now. How about Jedd Fisch to UCLA bringing QB Fifita and other stud AZ players along with. As broke as the UCLA athletic department is, AZ is worse off. A job in the B1G provides more security than a job in the B12.
  6. Here's a playoff idea. Is 24 too many teams? Not for FCS schools. What if the College Football Playoff featured a 24-team format like the FCS? THEATHLETIC.COM The FCS playoffs feature iconic matchups in great venues. So let's have some fun and replicate that for the FBS.
  7. Spot On! I watched the Cisco Kid on living black and white TV, aided by rabbit ears. Ditto the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, etc. Hiyo Silver, Away! The Lone Ranger 'theme song' was my intoduction to Classical music. Before we owned a TV, I listened to the Lone Ranger on the radio. You know you're old when all the shows you watched as a kid are now broadcast on Nick at Nite. 😁
  8. Oregon Ducks/TCU. Bookend Blowouts for UGA last season. oregon and TCWho? The only team that could have and probably should have defeated UGA last season was Ohio State with this season's NFL Rookie of the Year playing QB and a Heisman Trophy candidate catching the ball. And a college kicker missing what would have been a walk off FG win. Harrison doesn't get injured and I think that tOSU wins the game and blows out TCU for the title. As Kirby Smart said after the Oregon game, 'Dan knows that we have the better players.' I am looking forward to watching a dual threat QB, an escape artist, play in Stein's system. Should be a lot of fun. Dear Division Street, please pony up for Troy Franklin. Thank you.
  9. Go get 'em Bucky. You were so much fun to watch and played with outstanding effort. Best of luck in The League.
  10. Hey Cisco! Hey Poncho! Way to go young man. Odds on to start at center in 2024.
  11. Because Fox did not see the value in the SFO market? Because the 2 schools failed to invest enough in football and basketball? One of the main reasons the ACC/ESPN got the 2 SFO schools on the cheap. One thing I do not want to see is an FSU or Clemson, or any other school, brought in as a full share partner while Oregon and UW are junior partners.. Would either school leave the ACC for less than a full share? The ACC unlike the Pac-12 is not imploding. The ACC has agreed to extra shares for teams that participate in moneyball playoffs, And more concessions may be coming Clemson and FSU's way. The travel is bad enough as of today without adding on travel to Florida and South Carolina. Neither FSU nor Clemson is a fit like the Pac-4 that has had a close relationships with the B1G for decades. How accretive would these 2 schools be? Notre Dame draws far more viewers than does Clemson and FSU and is one hour from Chicago. If you are going to add two more mouths to feed you best be sure that they will put food on the table. Also, we are headed toward an era of a larger distribution to teams that participate in moneyball playoffs. Want to add 2 schools to the competition? Two schools without academic barriers to recruiting. I'll believe the B1G takes in a non-AAU member school only when I see it. 17 of the 18 B1G schools are AAU members and Nebraska was an AAU member when it joined the conference or it would not have received an invitation. Today, Notre Dame is the only no-brainer addition for every conference.
  12. College football is a big business. Size goes to size in business. Consolidation will continue until there is a Super Conference with 2 divisions (B1G + SEC?) and it will be NFL Lite with restrictions on transfers, direct pay-for-play, a high school draft, with players being union members. It seems like sudden change. But this all goes back to 1984 when Oklahoma, Georgia, and other plaintiffs sued to end the NCAA's broadcast monopoly and won. From then on it was a race to see what schools could make the most in media dollars. I miss a lot of the tradition. But I don't miss having only one game broadcast on a given Saturday. And I love OBD and other blogs and sites that cover CFB year round. When the boss is being paid $10M a year, the workers will be compensated one way or the other. And if the boss is free to leave for greener pastures shouldn't the workers have the same opportunity? IMO. following roster management today is very entertaining. And because of NIL and the portal, we just finished a season with more parity coast to coast than we have seen in a long time.
  13. Why was the OSU game scheduled in the first place? Give up a home game for an away game. Schedule someone who is suing you so they can make more money to pay legal fees. Schmuck!
  14. As it should be. Recall that the young man was dinged up this season. Thank you JPJ for your great play this season. Time to cash in on your success and get the 3 year free agent meter running.
  15. I like these ESPN recruiting rankings with Oregon ranked three behing UGA and OHio State and also a mention of Gabriel coming on board. 2024 college football recruiting class rankings: Top 50 schools - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM We stacked the top recruiting classes in the country, and the Tigers are making moves and new coaches are putting together their classes.
  16. I'm still LOL over the above, 'Get Off My Porch GIF." And this is a bit OT. On today's B1G Network: Team you are most excited about coming into the B1G in 2024? Urban Meyer - "Oregon. Oregon will bring speed on both sides of the ball that the B1G better be ready for." The new B1G match-up game are most looking forward to in 2024? Urban Meyer. "Ohio State at Oregon. In one of the toughest places to play in the USA."
  17. I do not disagree with you but I believe that the B1G powers-that-be would strongly disagree and these are the people who matter.
  18. I reiterate I do not see the B1G presidents bringing in one let alone two schools that are not AAU members. Unless the two schools are willing to pay huge exit fees the iron at this time IMO is not all that hot. ESPN has an on-the-cheap, terrific broadcast deal with the ACC. ESPN wanted Oklahoma and Texas. I don't see ESPN wanting to spend money to break up the ACC and crater the ACC Network. I think Fox would love these 2 schools in its quiver and as an in-your-face to ESPN but I don't think that Fox has the same power over B1G presidents as ESPN has over the SEC. The B1G prides itself in being academically superior to the SEC. As noted above, the University of South Florida was just granted AAU membership and FSU was denied membership. When the ACC's current membership breaks up, I think that Clemson and FSU will be off to the SEC where both fit. Notre Dame is not only a bigger national brand than these 2 but also has the academics to get on board the B1G. I believe that both of the Power 2 conferences will go to 20 teams. If a Baker-like pay-for-play model is adopted I can see Northwestern and Vanderbilt opting out.
  19. Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, and the new world of college football quarterbacks SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Bo Nix was outstanding for Oregon. Dillon Gabriel should be the same. In modern football, the biggest programs have zero incentive to develop QBs anymore.
  20. Charles, thank you. Better Sooner than later. I wonder if Boomer is still ticked off over USC poaching Riley?
  21. Ducked, these rankings come from ESPN's final regular season FPI rankings.
  22. Friend, Boomer. Is that Boomer as in Sooner? Gabriel will be the best QB in the B1G in 2024, including Michigan's McCarthy if he returns to the Wolverines. Oregon is adding the B12 Power 4 conference 1st string All B12 QB. And this won't help Oregon? Which QB do you trust more opening up in DG's home state of Hawaii? DG with 4 years of starting experience or Ty?
  23. I'm convinced he will help Puddles cause from day 1.
  24. If Dillon stays healthy he will break Bo's record for QB starts.
