  1. Great take. But when you are the lead sled dog ... Everyone is out to pluck the Duck's feathers. Especially, the crew in Columbus. 😁 Bring It On! Speaking of sled dogs, Husk the Fuskies!
  2. Brian Kelly did himself no favors with his temper often on display during the season. Kelly brought in a new DC from Mizzou and made him the highest-paid assistant in CFB. The D is still in the middle of the pack. The win vs Ole Miss was Lucky. The loss to SC, the 2nd half at A+M, and last Saturday's no-show at Florida have Kelly on thin ice with Tigers fans. As we know, SEC fans and administrators are not known for their patience.😁 Along with a pile of money, I'm certain that the Michigan recruiters were in Underwood's ear regarding the issues with Kelly. Michigan had a QB drafted in the 1st round in 2023. Sherrone Moore, now the HC was McCarthy's OC. The young man has the opportunity to be a hero in his home state, play in an NFL-like system, and make B1G bank at the same time. No offense to LSU but if the young man gives a wit, he will earn a more valued degree in Ann Arbor than he could in Baton Rogue. Harbaugh's late departure last season put Michigan in a portal-picking bind. The QBs who could have helped the Wolverines had portaled-out by the time Jim decided to go to LA instead of fighting with the NCAA. This is a terrific get by Moore, could help save Moore's job, and may be the straw that breaks Kelly's back at LSU. If Kelly is bought out expect LSU to send a Brinks truck to Lane Kiffin's address in Oxford, MS. Of course, with signing day around the corner and the opportunity to enter the portal arriving shortly after signing day, this is not a great time to fire a coach. This is a win for Michigan and also a B1G in-your-face to the SEC. 😍
  3. AMEN! Like a 4th Q drive in the Rose Bowl to tie the game with Bama before winning in OT. One of the best drives in the history of CFB.
  4. RELAX. I, for one, appreciate your participation and your opinions. Respectful disagreement is fine. How can anyone have a definitive opinion on PO rankings when they are all subjective? Last season, the champ played dog meat OOC. Ditto if Ohio State wins it all this season. And OBD? Not one P4 opponent OOC but one heck of a G5 opponent. Who knew? It isn't perfect in the NFL, but it is far closer to perfect because this Sunday, no NFL team is playing The Citadel, UMass, UTEP, or Wofford. Every team plays the same number of League games. What a novel concept. We are probably headed to NFL-Lite but let's all enjoy this while we have it to enjoy and angst about. DYER's Knee Was Down!
  5. Thank you, Grandpa Duck For Starting a Timely and Multi-Million Dollar Post. And thanks to Forum Folks who have expressed their thoughts on this topic intelligently and civilly. We are not back in the day when the B1G Poohbahs would not allow the B1G champ to go to Back-to-Back Rose Bowls. Too professional don't you know? Look at today's Playoff payouts and what it means to CFB conferences; it is no longer a colloquial discussion concerning the Eight teams playing in the post-season. Search the College Football Playoff Site and confirm that MILLIONS of dollars are at stake. (You can Google It?😁 ) Colleges are on the cusp of direct payments to their 'Student-Athletes.' This presents a new financial calculus for college athletic departments. SEE: Rob Mullens's recent letter asking for OBDers to step up. Even the Athletic Departments in the Black today, like OBD, will have to find new sources of cash flow. You simply cannot hide behind closed doors in a boardroom in Texas and say: 'This is what we have come up with. Deal with It." Using the Week 13 AP Poll, Here is a 16-team Playoff field based on the vote of 62 folks who have the gumption to reveal their votes. (A metric/algorithm, whatever, would be used to toss the votes of AP 'Outliers.') 16. Colorado at 1. OREGON 9. Ole Miss at 8. Georgia 13. SMU at 4. Penn State 12. Boise State at 5. Indiana --------------------------------------------------------------------- 15. Texas A+M at 2. Ohio State 10. Tennessee at 7. Alabama 14. BYU at 3. Texas 11. Miami at 6. Notre Dame. 6 SEC/ 4 B1G/ 2 ACC + 2 B12/ 1 Independent and 1 G5. An equitable distribution of teams by conference. Yes, there would still be beefs about Texas SOS and Indiana's SOS but the teams with the biggest beefs would be playing ball in the post season. And seeding, especially the seeding of SEC teams with 6 SEC teams in the mix, makes 1st round SEC intra-conference matchups unavoidable. One other thought. How about every conference plays 9 conference games with the 12th game reserved for No. 4 at No. 1 and No. 3 at No. 2 with other games arranged down the line as ranked. The winners meet in the Conference Champ Game. (OK, Team Five would of course be screaming out loud.) Thanks again, 'Grandpa.' I can relate 4x over, thank goodness. Shuffle Off the Fuskies to Shreveport!
  6. Terrific Take, Mike. No surprise. The House Settlements 'requirement' for teams that want to compete at the highest levels to come up with $20M+ in direct payment to athletes every year could seal the deal on what the financials already tell us, the Power 2 could be the only 2 conferences competitive in B1G/SEC Time football. The word is that all B1G/SEC teams are on board with the $20M+, not the case with the ACC and the B12, and certainly not the case for the G5/6.
  7. Heard on B1G Today, today. Since the Oregon Game tOSU safety Denzel Burke has not been stellar. 19 passes defended. 17 receptions, 2 TDs, 2 PBUs. Hmmmmm? 🤫
  8. USC did poach a 5* QB from A+M so it's kind of a push plus. A So Cal kid, Husan Longstreet, who is higher rated than the 'SC commit' headed to CU. If a kid or his agent can read the tea leaves, why go anywhere other than a Power 2 school? Only 4 B12 teams to date have said they are all in on the House Settlement required $20M a year direct payment to athletes. If you don't ante up say goodbye to the B1G and the SEC Boys. UNC, FSU, Miami, and Clemson are good to go in the ACC, but Wake, BC, VA Tech? The Grapevine says that all B1G schools including NW are on board and the same with the SEC including Vandy. At CU, this kid could end up playing in the Pac-12/Mountain West. 😁 The young man's agent is playing CFB checkers and not chess. With rosters capped at 105 and scholarships capped, there is no certainty that there will be room in the P2 Inn if the B12 and ACC fall apart.
  9. Thanks, DM. Another terrific take. With very few exceptions, every team on its way to a title will have one anomalous game, at least, pop up. In the case of the Wisconsin game, DM well noted the scheduling circumstances OBD was dealing with, the loss of a key player, Tez, and an off-game by Gabe. The 1st pick in the Red Zone is a TD instead and would the game have been all that close? For Ohio State, the game came against Nebraska with the Buckeyes coming off an Off Week and looking ahead to Penn State. Whether the Michigan game was an anomaly for Indiana remains to be seen. Michigan brought the best D the Hoosiers have played to Bloomington and it showed. Minnesota was a roll before no-showing at Rutgers. Then there's USC and Nebraska. 😒 When firing on all cylinders, OBD has dictated the style of play to B1G teams this season. After a much-needed oil change, I hope we see the same on 11/30 and 12/7 and all the way to a Natty on 1/20/25. 😍 PUNISH THE PUPPIES!
  10. Someone in Columbus, please call the cops and ask them to inspect the Painted Bucknuts Guy's basement and backyard for the buried bodies. 😵 CREEPY 🫣.
  11. CBS Eye Test Has OBD No. 1 and Also has Questions for Texas. College football rankings: What my eye test says about the four best teams I've seen in 2024 - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM I traveled to watch the nation's top four teams in the preseason polls, and my in-person impressions of those programs have helped shape how I handicap the College Football Playoff. Does the Committee have a way, short of the Horns losing to Kentucky or A+M, to save face and drop Texas from the No. 3 ranking? No metric, including the Eye Test, supports Texas at No.3. The Committee has placed itself in a rankings corner by having Texas No. 3 and refusing to budge in what is supposed to be a 'fresh look' every Tuesday. SEC honchos are calling out the Committee and their 'Brother,' Texas. If One Loss is the only thing that matters to the Committee no matter the teams you play then all future P4 vs P4 scheduled OOC games should be canceled in favor of playing lesser opponents. That is a heck of a message for the Committee to send.
  12. Give Me Five Games with a Playoff Impact in Week 13. Top five Week 13 college football games: TV info, predictions, start times WWW.YARDBARKER.COM It's almost time for the game few thought would be interesting in August but is now hugely compelling: No. 5 Indiana at No. 2 Ohio State in a massive Big Ten showdown.
  13. No team is being more hosed over than UGA. Who invited these Long Horns into the SEC and gave Bevo a B12 schedule? In the preseason you could see This Coming from far more than a mile away. The SEC bent over for Texas and hosed Georgia and Alabama. And both Sankey and Petitti knew the Committee would screw things up. So far, in favor of the B1G. After Saturday, Indiana will have played the same number of Committee-ranked opponents as Texas, and Indiana might be 1-0 instead of 0-1. UGA has every right to throw rocks but not just at The Committee's ranking of the Hoosiers. Georgia at 10? Are there nine better teams in the USA than the Dawgs? Come On Committee! Sense and Less are running the show in Grapevine. BTW - If MIzzou was not in the SEC would the CoMo Tigers be ranked? GO DAWGS - BEAT ... The Minutemen?
  14. According to the Objective Gig-'Em A+M Site 😁 No. 3 Texas Ranking is Bevo Spit. There's no debate: The most overrated playoff contender is the Texas Longhorns GIGEMGAZETTE.COM It still isn't a perfect system. There still remain questions about the validity of the College Football Playoff. Most of our standings should be figured out Now that we are in the same conference again, can't we all just get along? Down in Dixie SEC teams being PO'd about the PO will test fraternal bonds. I love it! 😍 PLAY 9 CONFERENCE GAMES! GO DUCKS! PASTE THE PUPPIES!
  15. Holy Hoosiers! Is Shooter OK With Taking a Back Seat? Forever a basketball school, Curt Cignetti has awakened a 'sleeping giant' of a football program at Indiana SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The Hoosiers will play in a top-five football game Saturday. How did it all happen? It begins with a fiery and confident coach who earned his way up through the ranks and a Hoosier team that's adopted...
  16. Do Not Overlook UWho! Here's a Take On the B1G Champ Game. Big Ten Championship Game: Examining potential matchups, tiebreaker scenarios SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Oregon clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game, but its opponent is still up in the air with 2 weeks left in the season.

  18. For Hoosier Hopefuls. Kurtis Rourke’s leap of faith has Curt Cignetti’s Indiana on the edge of history WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM Kurtis Rourke and Indiana are in the midst of writing the most unlikely college football story since Rudy.
  19. Indiana is in the top 6 in Strength of Record. A win over Ohio State would be the Hoosiers only Top 25 win; tOSU would stay in the Top 25 giving OBD 3 Top 25 wins. Indiana will not jump the Ducks. An Indiana win would be historic but it isn't going to happen. Day, Chip and Jim Knowles will have the Buckeyes ready to play. The Ohio State D is better than the Michigan D that shut down the Indiana O in the 2nd half in Bloomington. I expect the Ohio State receivers to feast on Indiana's smaller DBs and can Indiana hold up, even with Ohio State's starting Center out, against the best running attack and RBs Indiana has faced this season? The Oregon D is better than the Indiana D and the Buckeyes moved the ball versus OBD in Autzen. I think the Nebraska game was this season's anomalous game for the Buckeyes. I hope the Hoosiers can keep it reasonably close so the Committee doesn't give Indiana the BYU treatment and drop the Hoosiers out of the PO to make room for another SEC team. However, keep an eye on Ole Miss at Florida, A+M at Auburn, and Kentucky at Texas. 😁
  20. In 2026, the Power 2 will be in control of the PO format and it will not look like this jury-rigged junk. Want to have 5 conference champs in, fine. But no preferred seeding and no Byes.
  21. 😁😁😁- Big Ten figures out days later that Oregon has clinched spot in championship game WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Some realignment had become normal over the years but the "super conferences" that have been created in the past season are just silly.
  22. DUH! This from a guy who is Alabama's senior Senator? Y'All sleep tight tonight, hear? Indiana 'went out and bought them a football team,' says Sen. Tommy Tuberville - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM "I don't think you should be able to recruit with money," Tuberville said Someone, please rescue Tommy before he drowns in hypocrisy. 😁
  23. CBS Sports (kind of) confirms McLaughlin is out. The worst thing about football is injuries. What effect will this have on the tOSU -12 line? Seth McLaughlin injury: Ohio State loses star center to torn Achilles during critical stretch run, per report - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Buckeyes have reportedly lost a key cog to their offense just days ahead of the showdown with Indiana
  24. Charles, more ammo for your POV on PO seeding and brackets. No. 5 Ohio State would play a 1st round game vs No. 12 BYU in Columbus. After defeating the Cougars, Ohio State would play Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl; OBD would play the winner of Bama vs. Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl. Both teams advance and Oregon would play Ohio State in the Cotton or Orange Bowl. Eugene to Dallas - 2,056 miles. The Ducks in this round would choose the shorter trip to Dallas. Columbus to Dallas - 1,041 miles. Hell of a format.
  25. WOOF! WOOF! Georgia football has some major changes to make based on the CFP rankings DAWNOFTHEDAWG.COM One thing is becoming more and more clear as the weeks go by and the College Football Playoff committee releases new updates to their rankings. Strength of sche
