Re-Ranking the Committee's Week 11 Poll Using Strength of Record.
Thanks, Jabbar. Spot on after Week 11's rankings. I see 4 each for the Power 2. 1 for the ACC, B12, Independents (not Wazzu or the Beavers😁) and the G5. If Ohio State blows out Indiana, it could be 5 for the SEC and 3 for the B1G.

Re-Ranking the Committee's Week 11 Poll Using Strength of Record.
The Playoff Committee's post-week 11 rankings do not mirror ESPN's post-week 11 Strength of Record Rankings (SOR.) Several of this week's rankings defy logic. No. 7 Tennessee was also No. 7 last week. The Vols easily defeated Mississippi State last Saturday as Indiana struggled to defeat an average Michigan team and BYU defeated an average, or worse Utah team by one point. Indiana moved up to No. 5 and BYU moved up to No. 6. Why should Tennessee be jumped by these two teams? According to PO committee chair Warde Manuel, moving up the Hoosiers and BYU was largely based on the 'Eye Test.' In other words, 'We think we probably screwed up last week and wanted to correct things this week.' What better proof does anyone need? This is a subjective exercise by thirteen folks who are not obligated to justify their reasoning. Thirteen people who refuse to disclose the metrics they use when on December 8th they will be making decisions involving multi-millions of dollars. The following is a re-ranking using SOR. Not much would change in the top 13 teams plus G5 qualifier Boise State but the order would be far different and somewhat surprising. The number to the left of a team is the team's SOR with the PO ranking to the right. I have also included ESPN's Strength of Schedule (SOS) updated rankings. SOR CT Rank SOS 1. OREGON 1 51 2. BYU 6 54 3. GEORGIA 12 1 4. OHIO STATE 2 26 5. PENN STATE 4 32 6. INDIANA 5 100 7. MIAMI 9 38 8. ALABAMA 10 11 9. TENNESSEE 7 35 10. TEXAS 3 56 11. TEXAS A+M 15 21 12. Ole MISS 11 23 13. NOTRE DAME 8 73 16. BOISE STATE 13 68 Texas at No. 3 in the PO rankings with an SOS of 56 and a Georgia team that beat down Texas in Austin at No. 12 with the No.1 SOS by any test other than the 'Trust Us, We're Experts Eye Test' is simply wrong. You can bet that the final PO rankings on 12/8 and the PO seeding will be subject to far more criticism than my simple exercise. Especially if a far more deserving Georgia finishes with two losses with Tennessee, U Mass 😒, and Georgia Tech left to play, and Notre Dame finishes with one loss, to an average G5 opponent at home, with wins over UVA, Army ranked No. 24 with the 133 SOS, and USC left to be played. The Committee's Day of Infamy will occur on December 8th and not the 7th.

Tennessee QB "Questionable" for Pivotal Game with Georgia

Tennessee QB "Questionable" for Pivotal Game with Georgia
Tennessee has won this season with terrific defense, a solid run game, and on occasion help from Nico who has also turned the ball over several times. I don't believe Nico's absence will have that big an impact of this game. After watching Ole Miss last weekend, a solid Vols front seven will have the ears pinned back vs. Beck and a suspect Georgia O line. It's do-or-die for Georgia and declining QB Carson Beck WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Carson Beck's regression has been jarring, putting Georgia in a position nobody considered possible.

Lanning to the NFL? I Don't See It.
Danno has repeatedly said that he wants his boys to graduate from the same high school and that his cancer-survivor spouse has been moved enough. He just earned a $9M+ bonus. How much more money will he earn trying to motivate seasoned professionals? He's not Chipper. He does not hate to recruit, he relishes the game and has terrific support from Division Street. Not dumping on the post but on the author. Can't we escape idle speculation during the season? We have more than enough of this clickbait stuff in the too-long off-season. How about letting the guy win a Natty before speculating on his leaving Eugene? PLEASE!

Will Prime be the Coach of "America's Team" Next Season?
Recall that if the House settlement goes through teams will have to come up with $20M next season and year after year. I do not think FSU fans with their team in a conference it is trying to escape for better media money will come with $70M. Norvell just fired his OC and DC. His portal picking last season including DJU was B - A - D! Plus, FSU boosters would also have to cover Prime's buyout. FSU is also a school focusing on academic improvement to try and become an AAU member. This also takes $. FSU is in good company. Florida's college teams went 0-6 on Saturday. 😁 And Mari(o) owns this, right?

Is the Committe's Sole Criteria to Make Sure an SEC Team with 3 Losses Get's into the Playoffs?
I think Georgia fans would disagree with your premise. Texas has one win vs. a P4 team with a winning record, Vanderbilt. Texas' other win over a team with a winning record came against Colorado State, not CU. No. 12 UGA lost to No. 10 Alabama and No. 11 Ole Miss on the road. Through Week 11 UGA has the No. 1 Strength of Schedule before playing No. 7 Tennessee in Week 12. UGA toyed with Texas in Austin. A -3.5 favorite coming into the game, UGA won 30-15 in a game that was not that close. Today, No. 12 Georgia would be knocked out of the playoff by No. 13 Boise State, and Texas would be seeded second. Why? SSDD. Texas has One Loss, and UGA has Two Losses. THIS is exactly what Greg Sankey and Tony Petitti were concerned about with this format and humans making subjective decisions without disclosing the tools used in making the decisions. Tony can breathe easy with Four B1G teams in the top five. Although Indiana is probably on the cusp depending on how performs in Columbus a week from this Saturday. Greg will have a more than respectable two-loss, not three-loss, SEC team, not Mizzou and LSU which are ranked only because the Committee needs to fill in the 25 spots, most likely left out. Even a three-loss Georgia would have played a far better strength of schedule than playoff teams with fewer losses. Left out in favor of Notre Dame with a home loss to a G5 team, one of four G5 teams on its schedule, and a Bye on conference champ Saturday. The Domers' annual ACC sacrificial lambs conclude with a game vs. UVA on Saturday. Left out in favor of likely 3 or 4-seed BYU, a team that was lucky, lucky, lucky to get a one-point win over Utah on Saturday which moved BYU up three spots? IMO, a 3-seed or 4-seed BYU will be waxed by the 5th or 6th-seed in the Fiesta Bowl. Miami? Georgia played and blew out ACC Clemson and is favored by two TDs over Georgia Tech. SMU? Lost at home to BYU. I have much respect for Georgia and Coach Smart but if a two-loss, forget about 3-loss Georgia, is left out I will be happy for one reason. This kind of snub will be close to guaranteeing that we have a more reasonable playoff format come 2026. Great post, thanks. Is the Committe's Sole Criteria to Make Sure an SEC Team with 3 Losses Get's into the Playoffs?
Not that I want to be 'fair' to the SEC, but not all schedules are alike. No. 12 Georgia - Has played 3 top 25 SEC teams on the road to date with a game Saturday vs. No. 7 Tennessee at home, a team that I think would wax No. 6 BYU. And Georgia played No. 20 Clemson OOC and has a game left vs. a Georgia Tech team which will not be a walk-over. No. 3 Texas has 1 win vs a P4 team, Vanderbilt, and was destroyed by Georgia in Austin. Next best P4 win, vs. 5-5 Michigan. No. 22 LSU and No. 23 Missouri are ranked for lack of a better reason. In a 12 team PO world there is no sense in ranking more than 12 teams plus top ranked P4 conference champs and a G5 representative not in the top 12. For ESPN entertainment value perhaps 15 teams should be ranked? Giving Miami credit for defeating 6-3 Louisville. Giving Notre Dame credit for defeating 6-3 Louisville? WHY? As I have opined before, probably ad nauseum, we will not see 'THIS' come 2026. (If I'm around to see it? 😁) Bring The Wrecking Ball to Camp Randall!

WEEK 12 - The B1G Reveal - The Maybe Conference Champ Games + Tradition Edition
JUST WIN BABY! It's Week 12 on the way to identifying The Delightful Dozen via a Fool Proof Method! The same method I used with my kids: BECAUSE I SAID SO! Don't you just love subjectivity unexplained? NEXT CASE! 1861 - Governor Alexander Randall provided land in Madison, Wisconsin, the state capital, to be used as a training camp for Union Army soldiers. 60,000 Union soldiers were trained at Camp Randall. An estimated 1,000 Confederate soldiers were held in Camp Randall: the 120 who died there are buried in their own small graveyard in Madison. After the war developers planned to build houses on the land but Civil War veterans strenuously objected to the Camp being converted into homes and prevented the site from being used for development. There is Nothing New Under the Sun. The first stadium constructed on the site in 1914 sat 7,500 fans. Today, Camp Randall, the 5th oldest B1G stadium (Only 5th!), sits 76,118 fanatics and its structure is tested when the fans Jump Around at the end of the 3rd Quarter. 1. The history and tradition of the B1G Ten is No. 1 and that's a fact Jack! 8 - A trip to Mad City and Camp Randall mercifully concludes OBD's 8 P4 games in a row. 3 - Danno who has laid off this season using the whip at the 3rd Quarter Pole, unleashed a 290 pound 'He Won't Bend Burch Behemoth' against a bunch of shell-shocked Turtles. 179 - An O-line back up, Gernorris Wilson, caught the TD pass that put Gabe at the top of the all-time college QBs total TD heap. Hats off to Gabriel Dillon. Son, blow your horn. 2 - Point conversion. Why not call on OT John Connerly, Jr. to blast the ball into the end zone. 7 of 8 - THIS Kind of Stuff Makes Football FUN in the grind of being the only P4 team in 2024 to play 8 games is row without a break. With opponent 7 and 8 coming off an Off Week. 😒 12/9/24 - Trip to NYC? Book It Danno! Will it be Roses the day before on 12/8? 6 Out of 10 - Show Up Effort versus the Terps. IT Happens. But it was Never in Doubt. I did not show up at work every day at a Perfect 10. Have any of us ever done so? OK, maybe Charles? A Week 12 P4 Conference Championship Game Guess. The P4 champ games will be played on 12/7 - The day before College Football's 12/8/2024 Committee Final Reveal Day of Infamy. A Guess at the P4 Champ Games. ACC - No. 9 Miami 😁vs. No. 14 SMU - My Cristo Ball says: Et Tu SMU? Mario - 'We will learn so much from this!" B12 - The No. 17 Prime Time's vs the No. 6 Who Knew, BYU. Preseason Polls had these two scooping up Ralphie and Cougar scat. SEC - THIS is a WAG. In 2024, no conference has beaten the whey out of itself like the SEC. And with the disparate SEC in-conference strength-of-schedules at least one two-loss SEC team will feel the pain on 12/8/24. No. 10. Alabama vs No. 15 Texas A+M - THIS means that A+M defeats a Texas team that was trashed by UGA. A Texas team with 1 win over a Power 4 team, Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt😒) Indiana has played No One but Texas? B1G - OBD vs Ohio State - Ducks win in the 2nd of 3 matchups in The Battle of the Os in 2024/25. See you Brutus in the Cotton or Orange Bowl. Streaks - Good and Bad - 124 - Miami's Penalty Ranking before the loss at Georgia Tech. 271 - rushing yards given up by the Canes MIA D vs. Georgia Tech. Null Set - How does a coach go from burying talented QBs to handing the keys to a talented QB while continuing to play down to the comp and asking The Guy to put his uni on in a phone booth? 126 - Years before Indiana won 10 games in a season. The cherry on top? The Football Hoosiers are 10-0. Cigs all around! 2016 - Last time Nebraska went bowling. $10 Million - Paid to a guy who may not go bowling this season. 😒 1. Mighty Man of Oregon - A guy who played ball for OBD and was a College Football and NFL winning coach and a heck of a guy. RIP - John Robinson. Brutalize the Badgers!

Is the Committe's Sole Criteria to Make Sure an SEC Team with 3 Losses Get's into the Playoffs?
Based on the BCS and 4-team playoff, the SEC which dominated CFB, is not out of line wanting 4 spots at least and the B1G, looking at conference participants in the same period of time, is not out of line demanding 3 or 4 spots. Notre Dame with 12-game no champ game schedule screws things up. Play 4 G5 teams? No problem. Half-ACC'd and miss Clemson, Pitt, Miami, and SMU, no problem. The B12 and ACC champs will play chumps compared to the SEC and the B1G. We have to put up with 'THIS' Abomination for this and next season. Then, the Power 2 will define the format.
-
Is the Committe's Sole Criteria to Make Sure an SEC Team with 3 Losses Get's into the Playoffs?
SSDD - It does not matter the quality of the teams you played; it matters how many losses are in your way. 2 Loss UGA is 9 spots behind a Texas team the Dawgs defeated in Austin 30-15, and it wasn't that close. Strength of Schedule - Georgia is at or near No. 1. Texas has defeated 2 teams with winning records, Colorado State and Vanderbilt. This ranking says, "We value wins and losses and not the quality of teams you played." Yes, Texas beat a Brand Name OOC, 5-5 Michigan. This erases an embarrassing home loss to Georgia. 30-15 UGA and Kirby called off the Dawgs. No wonder that Greg Sankey and Tony Petitti will demand a different format in 2026. I was hoping against hope and hoping got the H kicked out of it.
