  1. And the dawgs could care less, they needed their best shot at winning. They have to know he is gone as soon the next best seat is open and somebody calls. The whole dawg name for the program is a misnomer. It should the the Washington cats. Their coaches, and players are about as faithful as a cat. Whoever has the best meal and a warm fire is where their home is. I wouldn't want to be any part of that program!
  2. Kansas City because Lanning likes Andy Reid, and success by Reid can teach Lanning to be a better coach. We learn from those we respect, and Lanning respects Reid. Any other reason doesn't matter to me, not interested in these two teams, just being honest.
  3. I think the guy makes a great point, make your destination a place they don't want to leave. The dawgs haven't just had guys leave, they made guys quit coaching. Oregon has had guys leave for their dream destination. Jedd Fisch went to school at Florida, he is gone as soon as that job is open. Worst case scenario he is fired because he doesn't meet the standards. Best case scenario he leaves like most coaches do at Mountlake. The other aspect with Fisch is he has a bigger history in the NFL. He has two draws, a better college job, and the NFL. I hope they have to fire him, but more than likely this guy is gone as the soon as the grass is greener at multiple destinations. Fisch is going to want to leave sooner, rather than later. Montlake isn't a destination Fisch ever envisioned himself at, other than now banking some big checks until the next great job. The dawg fanbase better realize Fisch is there for one reason........ and that isn't because their destination is a place no none wants to leave.
  4. I look forward to Chip Kelly's protege coming to Eugene October 12th. Ryan Day has all the toys he needs to succeed, and a seat that is hotter than anyones in football. Alumni don't spend money like that without expectations. As Spiderman said, with great power comes great responsibility, and I don't see Day as up to the standard needed for the responsibility of all that talent. My green glasses like where we are at, and have no envy of Day and the way tosu plays. I like the Lanning plan, and Day is just a deadman walking.
  5. He helped put the O back into Oregon, for that I will always be grateful! The greatest what if, when he stood next to Lanning in the Washington game and wanted to go back in. I know, deep down, he wouldn't have let Oregon lose that game. Bo wanted to win, and could have won that game. Bo gave it his all, and made himself and Oregon better. A valiant outcome, to better oneself and those around you through talent and willpower, well done!
  6. I have always loved listening to people say how easy it would be if something was different. My favorite line when I hear this kind of talk is to say is if I was 2" taller and my coach hadn't had an attitude I could have been somebody and just smile, shake my head in agreement. I actually completely agree nothing is easy, but some people make it look easy. A good buddy who is extremely successful would be lost if he didn't have a list in his pocket everyday. He seems like he is all put together and just extremely productive, almost lucky. He has figured out how to beat just about everybody at the game he plays. Oregon is 2" too short and we never have bought the best coach. Oregon isn't the best academic school, and we don't tout an education at Oregon is going to solve all your problems, but no schools education will. We have never gone after, or gotten the best coach to run our programs. We go after a loser with talent, or an assistant who seems to have it. We make it look easy because we understand the work needed, and support the process. We just need to keep agreeing with the pundits, and other programs who complain about how easy Oregon has it. Just shake our heads, smile and agree Oregon has it made. Also DeBoer will have it easy now, right! The only thing easy for DeBoer will be cashing the checks he has coming from a program who will again learn what it takes to win it all, and it isn't jut buying the best coach out there willing to sign for too much money.
  7. Pretty sure I would have been illiterate if it hadn't been for SI. Maybe not quite that bad, but it had a huge impact on my life. The article, and articles on the Ironman changed the trajectory of my life, and still to this day create curiosity and drive to a life better lived.
  8. I will counter with, every position player needs to improve, or they will be replaced. There will be no sitting still, or maintaining one's situation. Just look at the receiver group, we have a 5* coming in to compete with another 5*. We have more talent at this position than ever before, yet we brought in more to compete. I don't look at it as being replaced, as much as run over by competition if they don't upgrade their skills and enhance their knowledge. Also players need to work on execution of their duties, not just statistics. Players can be productive and not be starters. We need back-ups ready to step in and there be no drop off.
  9. Why limit it to the qb, the guys offense is offensive. I will never forgive him for promising everything we ever dreamed of and giving us meh. I say that because Oregon is offense, and to be bored of our offense was beyond disappointing. He crushed RB's, TE's, WR's and QB's. The guy is to offense what Roberto Goizueta was to coke. The difference, Roberto, new when he had made a mistake.
  10. His son leaving was definitely odd, given he played as a freshman. Seeing him leave and multiple DB recruits coming in seems like it was a known move. I look for an upgrade from Lanning, as usual. Grateful for what Martin brought! Thank You!
  11. I think it is Harbaugh is gone, what now. I hope the move is best for Justin Herbert, and could care less about Michigan. The real winner may be Day, he might win another game against Michigan and save his job. I am just sincerely glad we don't have to go through all of this. We have solid coaches for our Basketball and Football programs. Go Ducks Basketball!
  12. Agree with all you said, it's just way too early for me to have much to say other than...
  13. I think the point on Fisch being suspect is a good one. He had one winning season and turned that into 7 year $54 million dollar contract. Fisch could be on a beach in a couple years getting paid bank to not coach. The last guy I can remember doing something like that was Mel Tucker at Michigan State. That didn't end well, not just talking about his firing, and Fisch could be in for the same kind of reality check. One winning season and a suspect ability to recruit and you're headed to the BIG, good luck.
  14. I remember back when that was Oregon, and we played with a chip on our shoulder. I love the recruiting we are doing, but that doesn't win games. I do like piling on the dawgs, so I suppose keep these kind of things coming!
  15. The response was nothing less than brilliant. The contrast to the carpetbagger up north couldn't be more stark. He is also selling competition, your spot on the roster isn't guaranteed, even if you are a 5*. These two elements should help create an unbeatable one two punch
  16. Another coach who will last maybe 2-3 years. He has spent more time in the NFL than in college. Good coach, but the dawgs have hired another guy who will jump ship as soon as his resume lets him.
  17. We can be grateful, and critical at the same time. I just lean toward the grateful side, and think we are in a unique moment in time. I also know when we take a moment when we are upset, and ask questions rather than attack we don't always regret what we initially want to do. I do agree pointed questions, and spirited analysis only makes us sharper, and more knowledgeable. We should all try and step back and be Columbo, if anyone remembers this character, rather than the many pundits and popular figures we see now spouting off. All I am saying, by the way, I love how Columbo rolled!
  18. We will turn on Lanning if he doesn't live up to what we believe he is. He is building himself up to a pretty lofty place, so it will happen. It already happened with some of his calls. So many have claimed he is brilliant beyond compare, and that was questioned. Even his less than immediate repudiation of Alabama made some question his unwavering commitment. Lanning will turn on us if we don't live up to what we have made ourselves out to be. We have built a pretty amazing program, and continue to support our athletic programs like few universities. Lanning hasn't turned on us in any shape or form! We are fortunate, we have a loyal guy who wants what we have created, who we are. This thing we have with the football program isn't like marriage, for better or worse, and I hope HappytobeaDuck was able to rally after his epic mistake! What we have is a lucky situation. Let me define luck, as many might mistake this as I am referencing dumb luck. We are lucky because we are in the right situation, at the right time. The right situation was created by a lot of effort. The Oregon fanbase we are part of built a winning program, Phil Knight came in supported even more winning with expert guidance unlike any program in the nation. The right time is what we are living in right now. We have the support, and this coach, and we the fanbase are alive and healthy enough to enjoy it. What I am saying is we need to truly enjoy this moment in time. We have a coach who is extremely talented and gives us a chance to win it all. We need to be cognizant that this is the dumb luck part and relish it. From my experience dumb luck is often ruined, while the luck you receive by much effort grows. Let's keep putting effort into supporting our Ducks, and Dan Lanning who is Oregon Football. Let's question things which don't add up, but in a respectful way. Understand, like HTBEADuck, mistakes can be made. We truly have something special, and lets more than embrace it, lets nurture it so we can better enjoy what is to come in the next few years.
  19. Seems like there are two answer to this question based on history. Either somebody who is going to begin another round of 12 losses to the Ducks, or lead the dawgs to another run at the title only to come up short and then leave. My bet another series of coaches who will lose another 12 straight to the Ducks.
  20. He gone too! Wow, the dawgs are loose, and gonna lose! Quarterback Will Rogers leaves Washington, re-enters transfer portal WWW.YAHOO.COM Washington loses its 2024 QB right after Kalen DeBoer's departure.
  21. Good to know, one year of eligibility, and that makes the guys desire to improve urgent. He has one year to prove he can make it to the next level. I think this is a brilliant move, a guy with 4 years experience, and fills a need.
  22. Wow, we needed this guy with the graduations. I could see Lanning going after another transfer at this position. Maybe a senior transfer as our young guys grow into the position. We definitely need some BIG beef up front as move to our new conference. A weakness here will be taken advantage of by our opponents next season. Come the April transfer window I would expect Oregon to be aggressive if we see anybody trying to get more limelight, and better coaching. This is where Tosh is earning his money, and I expect another BIG guy before this is all over.
  23. At this point I would imagine the money for a winning coach willing to sign on to one of these teams has to be crazy time numbers. I almost wonder if Helfrich is getting calls. I bet Petersen is getting huge offers. Urban Meyer has to be getting pulled by the money out there. When all the dust settles it will be interesting to see who is sitting in which position. The good news are seat is nice and warm, only because our guy hasn't left it! While the dawg seat, may be empty soon!
