  1. They say Will has passed the concussion protocol, but I've been wondering about a concussion ever since the game he had blood running down the left side of his face (seemed like the whole game). Whatever the cause, he sure hasn't been himself the last few weeks - going from PAC-12 player of the week status to 0 points at all... Hope for his sake that this gets figured out and he starts feeling better! Go Ducks!!
  2. I'm also recording and will watch later today. Go Ducks!!
  3. My thoughts and prayers are with Mario and his family at this time.
  4. Back in the 60's my family would come out to Oregon from the midwest to see grandparents and cousins for Christmas. Cousins had decorated their room with (what seemed like) lifesize posters of Puddles and Ducks athletes, and all they could talk about was the new Autzen Stadium. It all seemed pretty dazzling to my young, impressionable mind, and I have been a Ducks fan ever since!
  5. I enjoyed the new nickname for Kepnang: Franck the Tanck!!
  6. I noticed the same thing. Anytime there was a tangle of bodies*, Oregon picked up the foul, even if it was obvious to the TV camera that Utah was the aggressor... And, I might be prejudiced, but it seems I recall the same thing happened at Colorado on Thursday. Do the PAC12 refs have it in for us?? Not to be a conspiracy theorist (or maybe I am one LOL!!) but it seems like Someone really doesn't want the Ducks to win... Glad we prevailed anyway! Go Ducks!! *And, for those you who enjoy my kind of music, this reminded me of a song...
  7. My knowledge of basketball is somewhat limited. The closest I got to playing organized BB was as a freshman in high school (40+ yrs ago…) when I was one of the tallest kids in a small school in Alaska. The BB coach kept after me to turn out for BB, and I kept telling him that I had very few physical talents that would translate to the BB court. Finally I was persuaded to show up for practice, and after only 2 days he agreed with me. LOL!! And that was the end of my career in hoops. Consequently, most of what I do know about basketball has come as a result of watching/observing Coach Altman lead Our Beloved Ducks through the several years of his tenure to date. My life’s work has been in auto repair where I am, as I am fond of claiming, a highly trained observer of all things mechanical. My career has trained me to look for things that are different or out of the ordinary, leading me to perform repairs as needed to restore normalcy. This frame of mind has led me to the following Ponderments… Is Coach Altman still running the weave offense, or has he changed his base offense? In years past, especially I remember this when Peyton Pritchard was running the offence, the weave was a thing of beauty – running back and forth across the half court until there was an opportunity for a slashing drive to the basket, or to step back for a 3-point shot just when the opponents’ defense was dragging down. (I always likened this in my mind to the defense being hypnotized, and our guys were just looking for the defenses’ eyes to glaze over, and then take their shot – much like Crocodile Dundee hypnotizing the water buffalo…). Anyway, I’m just wondering if this is a permanent change, or is this an adjustment due to the availability of two dominant Big Men in the middle? Which brings me to me second Ponderment. Has it been a while since we’ve had this kind of dominating play inside from a pair of genuine big men? I remember former Beloved Ducks like Jordan Bell and Chris Boucher who were very active around the rim, blocked a bunch of shots, but to my eye at least never seemed this dominating. What I am seeing from N’Faly and Franck seems a lot different (and more intimidating to be truthful) than what I remember of former Ducks from the recent past. Which leads me to my third Ponderment. I love Franck Kepnang. I love the energy and joy he brings to the game. I was going to say to the floor, but he is almost as active on the bench as he is on the floor! I have been on the Franck Kepnang band wagon since last year, as you may remember from some previous posts. I am delighted Franck is a part of Our Beloved Ducks team and it is refreshing to note his development. Something I am enjoying this year is the development of a softer touch around the rim. He certainly can slam it down with an intimidating authority, but he is getting some nice baskets with a finger roll or a touch off the glass – it’s nice to see the progress from the coaching input he is receiving. Anyway, I am looking forward to the responses any of you might have to my Ponderments… Go Ducks!! Best Regards, olcodgerduck
  8. Curious that I had to read clear to the last comment before anyone even mentioned Mario. And that was to say they were expecting coaching, discipline and accountability that never happened under the previous coach's tenure... Gonna be some disappointed folks...
  9. After watching the last 4 years, I don't believe he can evaluate QB talent so he'll never know if he has a good QB or not. As we have all seen, the apparent requirements to be his starting QB seem to be the ability to accomplish a 2 yard toss into traffic, a 2 yard plunge into traffic, and/or a hand off to the running back for, you guessed it, a 2 yard plunge into traffic. At Oregon, he had a QB room with at least 3 talented players, all with varying strong suits. He was never curious enough to find out they would work out, so they just sat there while we watched the above performance game after game after.... As a person, I wish him well as he will always have been a member of the Oregon family. However, his departure really doesn't hurt since I am finding Coach Lanning to be a huge upgrade so far and am anticipating tremendous accomplishments from Our Beloved Ducks. Go Ducks!!
  10. I like your optimism! I am a strong believer in strange things happening! Go Ducks!!
  11. Do you suppose that the reason MC bailed when he did was so as to not tarnish his stellar 62-60 record? I'm guessing it would have sucked to show up at Miami with his overall record only 1 game over .500 instead of 2? After the 2 beat-downs at the hands of Utah (primarily through incompetence/inattention IMO), it was probably obvious to himself that he wasn't going to pull out another win against another decent CFB team this year... I guess at this point it's just something to ponder on... In any event, I am excited for the future of Ducks Football, and can't wait to see what Coach Lanning puts together! Go Ducks!!
  12. hahaha!!!! Having spent time in the woods (and other places) with horse & mule pack trains, this brings back a lot of memories... some hilarious, others less than... Thanks for sharing this story! I'm pretty sure if you look up the definition for "mule-headed", you'll find an autographed picture of MC... LOL!! Anyway, looking forward to the bowl game tomorrow! Give 'em heck and play to the best of your collective abilities, and maybe good things happen! Go Ducks!!!
  13. Where I am currently living, I listen to a radio station out of Canada. The other day on the way back to work, I got to hear this... LOL!!!
  14. A question - during the game it was mentioned that Washington had the "best passing defense" in CFB. How is that possible and still have a - 4 - 7 (now 4 - 8 haha) record? Does that merely mean that nobody had to pass against them (except WSU sure seemed to have an OK passing game tonight...) because they could just run over them and didn't really have to pass? Doesn't make sense to me at all...
  15. Just jumped on here for minute to see if anyone else is watching the apple cup... I now live waaaaayyyyy up in purple puppy country, so I thought I'd try watching just in case some of the guys at work wanted to talk about the game on Monday. I had a plan to watch and root for whoever was on defense, but as soon as I saw the purple unis and faux chrome helmets, I became instantly nauseated, and realized that since I really, really, really didn't have a dawg in this fight that I would have to root for wsu to not lose. LOL... Just in the 2nd half I have seen the husky "legacy" (god, that term makes me more nauseated...) qb throw 3 picks so everything is going according to our plan for the puppies... Any way, looking forward to our game with the pesky rodents tomorrow. Go Ducks!!
  16. Thanks ICamel, I'm not a big youtube guy, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
  17. I was watching the game (watched it late Saturday night...) and enjoyed watching Cardwell wearing #21. Couldn't help but remember the #21 that will always be closest to my heart. Thanks for bringing this to us, latracey!
  18. There, fixed it for you!! LOL!! I hope our guys are focused on the Holy Grail, and that they will put the cougs away in short order! We have more big games to come!! Go Ducks!!
  19. I enjoyed the commentary by Jordan and Ernie. I am a huge fan of Jordan Kent. I was aware of him when he was a Ducks athlete, and have been watching him on Talkin' Ducks for several years, and appreciate the show as he has presented it. Now, I am up here in upper NW Washington, and since CSNW has crashed and burned, I have lost my opportunity to watch this show. (If Jordan is now working for PAC12 Net, maybe he's not there anymore?) Anyhoo, I enjoyed the Jordan & Ernie show (I like Ernie a lot better now that he's analyzing our Beloved Ducks and not coaching them... ) and hope they will pair up for many more Ducks Basketball games.
  20. Ah, but #22 got some solid minutes... Frank's back, baby, Frank's back!! Looking forward to his grin and enthusiasm again!!
  21. I understand where you are Charles.... Mrs. Olcodgerduck and I lost our 2 kitties a few years ago, and like you there are certainly days and times of the year when the loss is a little more poignant... Thanks for sharing the story of the little girl kissing your Boxer, it made me smile! Enjoy the memories, and hope your day is bright with the reflections of yesterdays win!
  22. I am not much of a fan of any of the pro sports, but I am feeling strongly drawn to watch Justin and the Chargers this year. A big part of the attraction is watching a great quarterback do what a great quarterback should do to run the field and win games (unlike our unfortunate current Ducks situation). During the Ducks games this year I am finding myself sitting on the front half of my chair with my guts in a knot hoping we "don't lose" again..., but the couple chances I've had to watch Justin play this year, I can sit back in my chair, and enjoy the game. Wishing Justin and the Chargers good luck!
  23. I was expecting the headlines this morning to look something like this: "Ducks manage to not lose once again..." What a frustrating game to watch. I know it's horrible human behavior on my part, but every time AB took off on a blind run and ended up under (it seemed like...) 11 other players, I kept thinking (involuntarily of course!) that maybe this is the play where he gets hurt and we finally get to try out one of our young, athletic quarterbacks... To be fair to him, I do think he made better choices on his runs in this game than the last couple of games - not quite so much of the scramble for 2 yards and collapse at the bottom of the pile... It was awesome, however, to see KT come storming in and totally create havoc behind the line of scrimmage! I am looking forward to seeing him play the rest of the year. For me, that may be what it takes to keep watching the rest of the games this year. Go Ducks!!
  24. Thank you Charles, for the time and dedication you pour into this forum. I had kept the site bookmarked even after it had been taken down. I was hoping against hope that every time I checked it that it would be live again! I am grateful to you and my fellow forum members to have a place to come and enjoy Ducks comradeship without the negativity accompanying so many other sites. Go Ducks!!
