  1. Brown peaked a long time ago. I was hoping that one of our "prized" back-ups would get some meaningful snaps. Like a star pitcher, Brown didn't have his good stuff last night. Bring in a reliever. I'm not pinning the blame for the disaster on Brown, but his poor throws to open receivers, got our offense off the field in a hurry and forced our tiring defense back on the field. His accuracy on anything but short passes has been shaky all season. I sincerely hope that Pittman's departure was not a factor in our team's attitude and lackluster spirit.
  2. Outplayed and out-coached. One of the most embarrassing losses in many years. Hopefully Pittman's departure didn't impact the attitude of the players. The remaining receivers were open, but Brown was horrible. I advocated for Ty Thompson weeks ago; Brown made my case tonight.
  3. The 4 team playoff has been problematic from the beginning. Every year fans demand expansion and every year our wishes go wanting. There is zero justification for not going to at least an 8 team playoff. Fans often agree on who is #1 and possibly #2, but the differences between #4 and #5 and beyond are hard to discern. The only way to end the dispute is to play!
  4. 2 decommits and a transfer portal entry ..... should I be nervous?
  5. Unlike those in charge in Afghanistan, at least the Duck brass owned their mistake. I didn't like the call, but I like their honesty.
  6. I'll be sitting at the crow dinner table. After the Bruin's quick start, hope was waning. I was reflecting on how poorly we have played in every game, except the trip to Columbus, and expected to be exposed in front of a large audience. I am sure glad that our Ducks proved me wrong. Our amazing youthful depth was on display and to borrow a Chip Kelly phrase, they "won the day." We managed to make it closer that it should have been, but a win in LA is always sweet.
  7. Mario recruits talent and character. He needs to stick around, but maybe we should start looking for a new OC.
  8. There were a lot to chose from.
  9. Brown played one good quarter. The Ducks have played one good game. The easy part of the schedule, with the exception of the game in Columbus, is over. Can we play 500 ball to the finish? To do so we are going to have to take execution up several notches. It's possible, but we've witnessed very little to inspire confidence.
  10. Given that Brown is not an accurate passer, running and running out the clock were the only sane options
  11. I find myself in agreement with those who want to begin the Thompson, Ashford or Butterfield era. Brown was a great replacement for Shough and looked good by comparison. This year, with one exception, Brown has been mediocre against pretty weak opponents. It's time to look to the future and play some of our prized recruits. If they don't some meaningful playing time this year, the transfer portal may be an attractive option.
  12. The ship entered some choppy water, but we haven't hit an iceberg yet. We were undefeated and ranked #3, then we played poorly, plus got some very questionable calls, lose one game and drop to #8 in the country, and some are ready to jettison one of the best coaches in America. Let's take a breathe. I have been rooting for our Ducks for decades, going back to games at Hayward Field, and I have experienced a lot of disappointment. Saturday, because we all had very high hopes for this team, was an extreme letdown. That said, it is way too early to think about a coaching change. Mario is building a great program with quality young men. Keep the faith.
  13. Count me in for the switch to the Ty Thompson era. Oregon has not played well since the win in Columbus. As Duck loyalists we are used to having our dreams shattered, but yesterday's loss was as painful as I can remember. Inexcusable. If we play like we have been since returning from Ohio, it is likely that we could lose to UCLA, UW and OSU. It shouldn't be so, but it is a real possibility.
  14. I agree with your view that the Ty Thompson era should begin. The Ducks have only played to their potential in one game, the win in Columbus. Time to make the move to the future. If we play like we have since the Ohio State game, losses to UCLA, UW, and Oregon State are very possible.
