  1. Charles need to become a PAC 12 Official. He is fair and consistent. That would be a positive change.
  2. Even though Moorehead will be coaching our offense, I surely hope that we will start and play either Thompson, Butterfield or Ashford in the San Antonio Bowl. No reason for the future not to start now. Additionally, the fairly high profile game against Oklahoma, would be good experience for our starter next fall.
  3. Lanning appears to be a great hire. I'm hopeful that some of his first actions can be to get our de-commits to commit. We had another pretty special class in the making.
  4. Nick Rolovich, former WSU, the Coach the State of Washington terminated for all the wrong reasons, laid the groundwork for the Cougars success in 2021. He is a principled fellow and a solid coach.
  5. Great post ..... Moorehead leaving is not a serious blow. MC's departure would be. I'm hoping he stays.
  6. If Mario is committed to our Ducks, he could stop all speculation by firmly stating that he is staying in Eugene. The uncertainty has a negative affect on our program. The transfer portal could get more active and our "committed" and nearly "committed" recruits may be re-thinking their choice. Failing to eliminate the uncertainty does damage to us now and in the future.
  7. MC is responsible, but you have to ask yourself about whether or not our OC and DC had any suggestions.
  8. Mario is a good coach with a very good record at Oregon. When our very young team matures and is led by a dynamic QB, we will be celebrating again. It is important to note that our team, recruited by MC and his staff, are quality young men who stay out of off field trouble. We need to chill and get ready for 2022. Near term, I'm hopeful that we will start a new QB in the consolation prize bowl coming up in a few weeks.
  9. What an awful performance by our Ducks. No emotion and out coached. Something is not right in Duckville. Hope I'm wrong, but it is as if Mario told the team he was headed to Miami and Moorehead told the Ducks he's going to Akron. The players seemed to respond, "you quit on us, we'll quit on you." Again, I hope I'm wrong, but this disappointing night is hard to explain.
  10. Brown has had so many poor games, maybe the Toilet Bowl will be an opportunity to start the new era. The bubble burst.
  11. I'm watching the Ducks play Houston and they are down 22 at half-time. They look at lot like the team that got blown out by BYU and St. Marys. They are beyond tentative on offense. I'm sure that each one of these athletes knew how to make baskets at some point in their careers, but that gift has disappeared. Not only is this team bound up on offense, but it slow to react on defense and they routinely fail to box out when rebounding. If this team breaks .500, it might Altman's best coaching job. At this point, our Ducks won't be participants in March Madness.
  12. Great post Darren. As for Thompson (or Butterfield et al), I continue to think it has been a mistake not to have given him more meaningful snaps. Beyond the Utah game, Brown has had several off games. I don't blame Brown for our loss, but in baseball when the ace doesn't have his good stuff, the reliever comes in. Why not in football? Are their egos that fragile?
  13. A very injured and very young team drops to 9-2 and some want Mario's head. Give me a break! He's a great person, a great recruiter, and is doing a great job as a coach. Lighten up.
  14. Brilliant! Absent your interesting line of thought, I have long wondered why Brown hasn't been managed like a star baseball pitcher. On those days when you don't have your best stuff, a relief pitcher comes in. Pitchers can handle it, why can't quarterbacks?
  15. Brown peaked a long time ago. I was hoping that one of our "prized" back-ups would get some meaningful snaps. Like a star pitcher, Brown didn't have his good stuff last night. Bring in a reliever. I'm not pinning the blame for the disaster on Brown, but his poor throws to open receivers, got our offense off the field in a hurry and forced our tiring defense back on the field. His accuracy on anything but short passes has been shaky all season. I sincerely hope that Pittman's departure was not a factor in our team's attitude and lackluster spirit.
  16. Outplayed and out-coached. One of the most embarrassing losses in many years. Hopefully Pittman's departure didn't impact the attitude of the players. The remaining receivers were open, but Brown was horrible. I advocated for Ty Thompson weeks ago; Brown made my case tonight.
  17. The 4 team playoff has been problematic from the beginning. Every year fans demand expansion and every year our wishes go wanting. There is zero justification for not going to at least an 8 team playoff. Fans often agree on who is #1 and possibly #2, but the differences between #4 and #5 and beyond are hard to discern. The only way to end the dispute is to play!
  18. 2 decommits and a transfer portal entry ..... should I be nervous?
  19. Unlike those in charge in Afghanistan, at least the Duck brass owned their mistake. I didn't like the call, but I like their honesty.
  20. I'll be sitting at the crow dinner table. After the Bruin's quick start, hope was waning. I was reflecting on how poorly we have played in every game, except the trip to Columbus, and expected to be exposed in front of a large audience. I am sure glad that our Ducks proved me wrong. Our amazing youthful depth was on display and to borrow a Chip Kelly phrase, they "won the day." We managed to make it closer that it should have been, but a win in LA is always sweet.
  21. Mario recruits talent and character. He needs to stick around, but maybe we should start looking for a new OC.
  22. Brown played one good quarter. The Ducks have played one good game. The easy part of the schedule, with the exception of the game in Columbus, is over. Can we play 500 ball to the finish? To do so we are going to have to take execution up several notches. It's possible, but we've witnessed very little to inspire confidence.
