I'm guilty. When I come up with my score for the prediction contest it has the Ducks covering the spread, For some reason that's important to me. It shouldn't be, and after all these weeks I should get it that Lanning couldn't care less about the spread either. (Michigan fans might feel otherwise, but who cares.)

The point is, Oregon is winning, just like when the Oregon teams used to be ahead, 21-0 in the 1st quarter the game is over. Jordan James isn't going to break off a 60 yard run, but 60 in 8 plays is just fine to me. This year's team has me more excited about Ducks football than I've ever been.

Ohio State @ Oregon was one of the most exciting games in college football this season. Neither team scored 40. Points doesn't equal excitement to me. Getting the key first down, stopping the other team on 3rd down. A sack, tackle for loss, all those make a game exciting.

Tulane is averaging more points per game than Oregon is.

Miami is #1 in scoring average this year.  Most Canes fans would sell their season tickets to be where the Ducks are and to have DL as a coach.

  2. Save for two games last year, albeit VERY PAINFUL, OBD has given us a lot to be thankful for in regards to the product put forward in the field.

The "Ducks vs Them" series is getting lots of play nationally, with former college/pro players saying that Dan Lanning makes them want to put the pads back on and run through walls.

I, for one, have kinda taken our new reality for granted at times, expecting near perfection.

I say this because I was reminded that some other Big10 teams don't have the same outlook...as evident by this poor Husky fan trying to find a silver lining for the season.

  3. The media is falling all over themselves with Colorado again.  It's really quite ridiculous.

It's almost like they are trying to buoy them into the Big12 championship because they believe that Colorado would be a "sexier" pick for the playoff than BYU.

I've even heard Deion's name pushed as COTY.  Really?  Ahead of Kalani Sitake who happens to be undefeated and is in the same conference.  Not to mention the DL's and Cignetti's of the coaching ranks.

  4. I found this article fascinating!   Williams was sacked NINES TIMES against New England.  NINE!

An NFL offensive line cannot be THAT bad, so something else is not working.  I didn't watch that game but I may have to in order to see what Williams is doing.

Miami fans are accusing Ward of playing "Hero Ball", always looking for the home run instead of just checking it down.  Maybe Williams is doing the same?

  5. Bo played a good game yesterday against Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The offense struggled some in the 2nd half, but Bo didn't hurt the Broncos and led them on a tremendous drive at the end to go for the winning field goal...which was blocked, unfortunately.

From the 30,000 foot view, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix have clearly been the best.  I'll reserve judgement on Williams for this year, but I think people are seeing that a pants-on-fire college career, running around and making crazy throws doesn't always translate to immediate success in the NFL.

Now, if Bo could kick field goals also...

  6. I found this to be a very difficult but logical position for a Husky fan to take.

Looks like they can see the writing in the wall and have accepted where their program may be for a bit.

In the same thread, they also lamented that they don't have an "Uncle Phil".  Some posters said that those people exist in Seattle but UW has not made an effort to bring them in.

I am curious if the collective here agrees with this poster.  I do, with the exception of "Once USC gets their act together...". I do not see that happening soon.

  7. I can just hear Mario now:  "We just didn't have the physicality to be physical enough to counter their physicality when they physically tried to overpower us physically.  We'll go back to work to get more physical and improve our physicality against physical teams"

Some cane fans have seen enough of the Mario show.
