This will likely be THE biggest game in decades, if not ever, for the Liberty Flames. Oregon needs to treat this game like they have every other game this season and come prepared to dominate the other team physically and fundamentally. The fact that Bo is going to stay to play shows me that, Liberty not-with-standing, this game still means a lot to him.
It's the Fiesta Bowl and a win will be a great one for the Oregon football program. GO DUCKS!

Yeah, well Liberty is 13-0.
The Ducks had better not think they're just showing up to have fun in Glendale. It's important for the Ducks to finish this great season with a win not an upset. These are the times that can really try the coaching abilities of the staff and the mind set of the players. Everyone will be expecting a blowout - everyone except the Flames.
Go Ducks!

Tons of tickets are still available on Ticketmaster, one of which is mine, even after a couple of price reductions.
You decided not to go, then?

I think Lanning mainly has an experience deficit he is filling fast. He also took over a program which wasn't like what CK took over.
This is what I attribute the previous loss to and what I think gives DeBoer an edge over Dan Lanning.
It will be interesting to see how DeBoer plays this game because everyone including him saw the superiority of Dan's team over Kalen's. I expect DeBoer to have a plan to address the talent difference and present a different angle for the Ducks to face.
-
It's not just Dan Lanning. As I pointed out in another post, DeBoer is 102-11 over 9 seasons as a Head Coach. That's impressive at any level. At the D-I level he's 35-8. One could make the argument (I won't) that he's the better coach than Dan Lanning. But this rivalry is just getting started. Tonight Dan makes if 1-2 against DeBoer.

I mis-spoke above. Since Martinez is only 19 he was charged with minor-in-possession (MIP) of the marijuana as well. It is not legal for minors to have pot, even in this state. He was charged with a misdemeanor and released. It was the AD Scott Barnes who announced he would not be participating in the Beaver's bowl game - wherever that may be.

Such a waste, he had so much talent and could have been in the NFL. He was good as a TE but I really think he would have crushed it at LB and gotten out some aggression in the process.
Colt's problems were much more severe, addiction-wise. Martinez did what a lot of young people do, get drunk and think they can drive. He had a little pot in the car too, but in Oregon, that's legal -as long as it doesn't affect your driving. In this case, it might have.

Driving under the influence is serious business. Why it's not a felony is beyond me. DUI is deadly but the consequences are light when you account for the risk to others. Glad nobody was hurt or killed.
Yes, DUII is very serious My sister was nearly killed in Minneapolis, MN by a drunk driver who had 17 (!) prior convictions. Needless to say, he had no driver's license but it didn't stop him from driving. Our country has its priorities all backward nowadays.
I concur: I hope he can move on from this and turn his life around. He's only 19, after all.

Hurt or not I think Oregon wins this game. A healthy Penix is a real threat and the sportsmanship way is to want to beat your opponent at his 100% best. I think Oregon will beat UW, even if Penix is 100%. Oregon's the better team. Bo is the better "Quarter-back".

KPNW radio reported this morning that Beaver running back Damien Martinez, 19, was arrested in Corvallis for DUI and other related charges yesterday. A spokesman for the University has announced that Martinez will not be playing in any upcoming bowl game. Martinez was arrested, booked then released on his own recognizance.
MSN
WWW.MSN.COMI wonder if this means he might be entering the transfer portal as well.

OK, for you nervous nellies, there's this: In 9 seasons as a head coach Kalen DeBoer has lost a total of just 11 games. He's 102-11 and 23-2 as the coach at UW. No one has beaten this man very often.
Here's to 102-12.

Some one will write a book on this some day. I just hope it isn't Klavikoff or his surrogate.

Stadium's been sold out for few weeks now.
Maybe.... maybe because it's the LAST Pac-12 Championship? Not that Oregon and UW aren't a draw, esp the re-match but neutral site games have to bring a lot of fans in from plane distances away. It would be wonderful to see the stadium full and rocking from rail to rail with 60-40 Oregon fans.
-
Since Charles stole my thunder I have to make minor adjustments:
34-17 Oregon
2 T.o.s
2 Sacks
350 Yards passing
And Lord knows how many penalties...

Call me dense (my wife often does) but how does a 12 team playoff work out - unless some teams play more games than others? 8 would have made more sense. Then 16. But 12?
12 becomes 6, becomes 3, becomes ____? Does one team get a bye and if so, why?

PAC12 website says tickets are sold out for tomorrow's championship game.
I checked and Allegiant Stadium holds 65,000 people.
Does anybody else remember the championships in Levi's Stadium that were embarrassingly empty of people?
PAC12 did 2 good things: moving the championship to Vegas and getting rid of divisions so we aren't in the same fail boat as Ohio State.
Wish I could be there, but I'll enjoy the game at home.
I wish this meant the stadium would be full of fans - preferably wearing green and yellow. But it doesn't necessarily mean the seats will be full - not if what we've seen over the years holds true. But then .....

Wait a minute! Where is USC on the list? UCLA? UW?
Flux issues. Transfer Portal chaos. Head Coaching uncertainties. General confusion coupled with sine-wave irregularities magnified by
player gravitations. U understand: these things take sorting out first.

Very, very clever video. This is one to really motivate the team. Well done, Kenny and everyone involved in producing this short video.

This is a big reason why I say the Ducks should pass. OSU had a solid offensive line and a good run game. Their receivers weren't bad but not nearly as loaded at that position as the Ducks are... but throwing for under 60% is a big red flag for me.
Not that I want to see Ulagelelei transfer in to Oregon, but his lack of throwing stats (percentage and yards, etc.) probably had a lot to do with OSU's run-centric offense. The throws he did make were longer & different than a lot of the throws Bo makes to the check downs, screens, etc.
Bo's average is so high because a lot of the throws he makes are high-percentage. This is not a knock on Bo - he's making them because he's directing the offense down the field in the best possible manner. Ie: he's "quarterbacking" the offense. The proverbial "taking what the defense is giving you." No one does it better than Bo - not at this level.
I'm not at all certain Ulagelelei could do the same or read the defenses like Bo. Not many QB's at this level can.

Would this guy really want to don a Duck outfit? And could you imagine the reaction that would generate from die-hard Beavs fans? !!!
Maybe Johnathan Smith would offer him a bed and a place to stay.
-
And here I thought all this soul-searching, mind-bending what-ifs would settle down after the last poll left Oregon at #5 and UW at #3! Hah! What'd I know..... it seems to have increased it.
Or is this just a way to work off the nervous jitters?
-
For some reason I'm a lot LESS nervous about this game than the last one against the Beavers. After seeing how well the Ducks are playing these past 5 weeks I can't see UW having much of a chance unless Penix throws for 5 TD's and I really don't think that's gonna happen. I think the oddsmakers have it about right and I think the CFP committee has it right that Oregon is the highest ranked 1-loss team.
I'm picking the Ducks to cover - and then some. GO OREGON!
-
I keep hearing on all these Youtube prognostication shows questions about the health (both physical & mental) of Michael Penix. I guess he's not been playing well since the last time these two teams met up. Dunno, cause I haven't been watching them play - I can't stand to watch UW play anybody but our Ducks.
Evidently this is why the oddsmakers are giving Oregon a 9 point edge: questions about Penix' performance. Without him up to parr this game is a runaway but with him playing to his ability this game is a lot closer. Here's hoping Dorlus and Burch put Penix on his butt right out of the box and scare the bejeebies out of him.
GO DUCKS!

And the Beavers get Notre Dame?

I hope the Beavers are up for this one after having lost their coach. I'd still rather see OSU win than ND. Go Beavers.
