Marcus Mariota and Jevon Holland to guest coach Oregon spring game teams A pair of Oregon football legends will return to Autzen Stadium to lead the Ducks in their annual spring game later this month. On Friday afternoon, the University of Oregon announced that Marcus Mariota and Jevon Holland will act as guest coaches for this year's spring game — set for April 29 at 1 PM. The program made the announcements on its Twitter account, stating that Mariota would lead the green team, while Holland would head the yellow squad. This is a not a new practice for head coach Dan Lanning. A year ago, De'Anthony Thomas, LaMichael James, Arik Armstead and Haloti Ngata assisted in leading the teams with Thomas and James acting as "offensive coordinators" and Armstead and Ngata as "defensive coordinators". James Madison II Recaps Oregon Visit James Madison is one of the best wide receivers in Florida and placed the Ducks in his top five following a visit. 2024 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver James Madison II was on campus this week and placed the Ducks in his top five schools on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound wide receiver shared some highlights from his second trip to Eugene. "I've been up there before, but just going back up there, seeing the coaching staff again, being able to sit down and talk to Coach Lanning, Coach Adams and everything like that," Madison said. "Last time I didn't see practice, so getting a better glimpse of how they coach, how they operate and how they run their team. It was very insightful." Oregon starting to catch fire on the recruiting trail Oregon is ripping and roaring on the recruiting trail, up to No. 8 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings after a flurry of commitments here in April headlined by Top247 safety Aaron Flowers. Sitting on eight commits, Oregon is in great position for several other top targets moving forward. They are hoping Flowers is just the beginning of what could be one of the nation’s top defensive back classes. Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra Top247 cornerback Dakoda Fields is a coveted player on the board and he’s equally excited about a potential future in Eugene. “What excites me about Oregon the most is is where they will be in the next two, three years,” Fields said. “It was very impressive to see Coach Lanning go out and get 10 wins his first year as a head coach, knowing that he didn’t really recruit any of those guys." A'Lique Terry believes the O-Line is in 'a great spot' midway through spring A'Lique Terry admits the program's offensive line is currently in a transitional period. Terry himself has been on campus just a few months after replacing Adrian Klemm in February, and four starters and program cornerstones from a year ago are gone too. Regardless, Terry's enthusiasm was hard to miss during his first media availability on the job on Thursday afternoon. Not only is the 27-year old an engaging speaker, but his optimism for this year's group, four starters lost or not, was evident too. ''I think we're in a great spot," Terry said of his group. "We've got a ton of guys working their butts off. I could sit here and name every single guy because of the grind they've had right now and in their winter training. They're competing their butts off every single day. If there's anything we ask of them, they're going to do it." A'Lique Terry believes the O-Line is in 'a great spot' midway through spring 247SPORTS.COM Oregon offensive line coach A'Lique Terry is confident in the progress he's seen from his group through the first half of spring. -

Oregon OL coach A'lique Terry details his offensive line expectations Over the last seven seasons, we've seen essentially two variations of the Oregon football offensive line. Two groups of linemen manned starting positions for multiple years consecutively and those groups produced some of the best offensive line play in program history. Most recently that group was Alex Forsyth, Ryan Walk, T.J. Bass, and Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu starting in 2020. That group is now gone and a third new rendition of the Duck offensive line is on the hunt. All four seniors who moved on from Oregon have NFL aspirations and will have their chances to land on an NFL roster this coming summer. Their departure opens the door for Oregon's staff to look for the next group. "Physical, strong, athletic," said Terry when asked about the traits he's looking for to fill out the five spots on the field. "But if you're looking for non-negotiables: finishers, guys who strain, and guys who want to be extra. I like seeing guys push someone at the end of their highlight and maybe have a little scuffle because I know you've got a little edge to you. That means when you're out here competing with your guys you're going to protect them." Josh Conerly Jr. wants opportunity to 'show people who I am' Josh Conerly Jr. is hard to miss on the Oregon practice turfs. Even as the team moves between drills, the speed and fluidity with which the 300 pounder maneuvers from one to the other stands out. It's that athleticism that made him the nation's top-rated offensive line prospect in the 2022 class, per 247Sports. New offensive line coach A'Lique Terry can't help but appreciate how rare his star sophomore's movement skills are. "He almost has feet like a safety or outside linebacker, and he's got the power of a lineman," Terry said on Thursday. "He's got the tools that are necessary to be another special force. We've seen some special tackles here in our short time here and in the past." Terry knows about "special forces". He helped bring Penei Sewell along during the 2019 season, when he was a graduate assistant working under Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal. Ducks pick up prediction to land commitment from 4-star WR Dillon Gresham On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Oregon to land 4-star WR Dillon Gresham, a rising prospect from California. Gresham is rated as the No. 61 WR and No. 414 player in the 2024 class. The Ducks already have a loaded WR room in the 2024 class, with 4-star Jordan Anderson and 4-star Tyseer Denmark already committed, both of whom are among the best WRs in the class. Gresham has yet to take a visit to Eugene, but we will see if the Ducks can land a verbal commitment from him soon. FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT: APRIL 13 THE DUCKS PRACTICED IN SHELLS THURSDAY, GEARING UP FOR A SCRIMMAGE ON SATURDAY. Years ago in Florida, A'lique Terry was one of those kids who grew up watching the Ducks dominate the Pac-12 Conference, and look good doing it. Oregon became his dream school. Terry ultimately played in college at Wake Forest, but he made it to his dream school in 2019, joining the UO football staff as a graduate assistant. After two seasons with the Ducks, he took a full-time position at Hawaii, then joined the Minnesota Vikings staff in 2022. It was during his tenure there that he had a conversation about his long-term goals, and how they included a return to Eugene. "I said in five years the plan was to be back," Terry said Thursday, following Oregon's seventh practice of this spring. "Less than 12 months later it happened. God is great, for real." Terry won two Pac-12 Championship rings in his previous two seasons at Oregon. He also helped groom a generation of offensive linemen from current pros like Shane Lemieux, Jake Hanson, Penei Sewell and Calvin Throckmorton, to 2023 NFL Draft prospects such as Alex Forsyth, to returning UO veterans Steven Jones and Marcus Harper II. Now, Terry's duties include recruiting future generations of UO offensive linemen. With his passion for the program, he's well-equipped to do so...
