Baseball recap: Ducks return to win column with brief series with USF After a disappointing weekend that saw the Oregon Ducks baseball team drop two straight to the Beavers, they received the remedy in the form of the San Francisco Dons for a midweek two-game series at PK Park. What's Next for Oregon Recruiting After Landing Trent Ferguson? Dan Lanning and the Ducks landed another commitment on Wednesday and more are likely on the way. Schools like Ohio State, Michigan, and Georgia are red-hot on the recruiting trail, landing blue-chip commitments in the past week. It's been a quiet past couple of months for Oregon on the recruiting trail. But here come the Ducks. Dan Lanning and the Oregon Football program have landed two commitments in less than a week to kick off the month of April. Safety Aaron Flowers announced his pledge on Friday and towering offensive tackle Trent Ferguson hopped in the boat on Wednesday. There's little time to celebrate in recruiting, and everyone wants to know what's next... Find out what's in the recruiting pipeline in this article from Ducks Digest.

QUAAACK! 2024 OL Trent Ferguson is a Duck

Class Impact: What Trent Ferguson's Commitment Means for Oregon Football Ferguson's commitment is the first offensive line commit for Oregon since A'lique Terry returned to Eugene from the NFL ranks to join Dan Lanning's staff. You'll recall he was on staff during the Mario Cristobal era before being hired by Hawaii in 2021. Oregon's newest commit may not be a flashy five-star, but even so it's still some important momentum at a key position. I have no doubts that Terry will be a great recruiter for the Ducks--in fact he already has been. He played a big role in Oregon landing Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 2021 class. But it might take some time for him to get to closer to Adrian Klemm levels. This evaluation should be taken with a grain of salt because Ferguson doesn't have a ton of tape to work with. He only played four games during the 2022 season and it was his first year playing football. However, there are still some traits we can take away from watching his film. Ferguson has a background in basketball, and he moves around pretty well for someone that's 6'7", 300 pounds. He's stronger in run blocking than pass blocking, routinely driving his defender into the dirt whether he's working solo or with another lineman on a double team. There's both potential and obvious room for growth, both with his feel for the game, technique and carving his body in the weight room so he feels more comfortable with his massive frame. As he gets more comfortable in the game his technique will improve and we'll likely see improved speed and agility as well. Read more about the Ducks' newest commit in this article from Ducks Digest. -

Spring Football Practice: 4/11/23

FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT: APRIL 11 Another week of spring practice for the Ducks began Tuesday, but this week won't be like the others so far. Oregon's third practice of this week, scheduled for Saturday, will be the program's first scrimmage of this spring. What, UO coach Dan Lanning was asked Tuesday, will be the Ducks' goal for the scrimmage? "Get better at football," he said with a wry smile. Lanning was having some fun with local media with the clipped response. But there was truth in the simple answer, too — spring ball is about steady progress, day to day, week to week, month to month. Oregon newcomers Traeshon Holden, Tez Johnson make strong first impressions Oregon might have had an inkling prior to the season starting that wideout Troy Franklin was about to take a major step toward stardom, but few outside of Eugene expected the second-year wideout to break out the way he did. In fact, expectations were low for what was a young Oregon receiving room in general entering last season. Then Franklin turned into a big-play machine, with 891 yards and nine touchdowns. Chase Cota was a reliable option for Bo Nix. Kris Hutson posted career-highs for receptions and yards. Things are different now. Entering the 2023 season, this group looks like it will be one of the better wideout rooms in the conference. Franklin’s return plays a part in that. Offseason additions from Alabama’s Traeshon Holden and Troy’s Tez Johnson help, too. The summer will also bring 5-star 2023 signee Jurrion Dickey to campus. “Competition brings out the best in everyone,” wideout coach Junior Adams said Tuesday. And the newcomers are pushing for spots.
