Dan Lanning and Oregon seek growth and consistency after its third spring practice "Right now, spring ball is not about the scheme, right? It's about playing ball, playing fast, figuring out who can play," said Lanning. "I think we still got to figure out who our players are. A little thinner on offense than we are on defense, just from a numbers standpoint. So we've got to be conscientious of that as we get guys but want to continue to maximize as many reps as we can get." Oregon's schedule for the rest of the week will include practice on Thursday morning and then wrap up the week with practice on Saturday. The Ducks are expected to use Saturday's practice as a competition day. That typically includes some form of a scrimmage in the past, but it hasn't been announced if the Ducks will hold a formal scrimmage on Saturday. Nonetheless, Lanning has expectations for what he wants to see between now and when the media will speak with him next Tuesday. "Consistent growth," said Lanning. John Canzano actually did a podcast with Sonny Vaccaro which I posted yesterday in Duck Podcasts. I will repost here since it goes with the article above. ----------- John Canzano: The Bald Faced Truth Podcast John Canzano talks to the legendary Sonny Vaccaro about the upcoming film "AIR", with Matt Damon playing Vaccaro, and his perspective on how NIKE was able to sign Michael Jordan over Converse and Adidas. "AIR" premieres Wednesday, April 5th. Some background in case you're not familiar with Sonny Vaccaro. He is the iconic sports marketing executive best known for his tenure with Nike, where he signed Micheael Jordan to his first sneaker contract. That partnership with Jordan revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture.

I’ve known Sonny Vaccaro for years. I can’t wait to see “Air” and watch actor Matt Damon play the so-called godfather of grassroot hoops. The film hits theaters on Wednesday. Ben Affleck plays Nike founder Phil Knight. The movie portrays the company’s pursuit of Michael Jordan and the sneaker partnership that shaped culture and changed the sports world. Oregon Football Spring Camp Updates: Practice Three Running back Bucky Irving provided the initial spark at practice by breaking the Ducks down into their special teams practice, with his voice echoing across the practice facility. The day featured a few notable absences, as veteran wide receiver Josh Delgado, defensive back Daymon David, and freshman offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson could not participate in the day's work. Junior Angilau and Ty Delgado were limited during offensive line drills. No defensive players were limited during position drills or special teams drills. Luke Dunne and Ross James continued their battle for the opening-day punting nod, as both featured excellent punts that soared to over 50 yards. However, once again, Dunne's overall punts were more consistent and traveled farther. Dunne also unleashed a "banana punt" where the football looks like it will go right at first but then sharply veers left, making it incredibly difficult to catch. Franklin did not catch the "banana punt" as he turned around while gauging where the punt would fall. Williams talked about the guidance he received from the USATF veterans. “I had Fred Kerley, Noah [Lyles], Grant Holloway and all of them were all great mentors,” Williams said. “They were telling me certain tips about the game and what to expect. Even Fred will comment on my stuff today and help me, that’s the biggest thing.” Tune in to see if Williams, the “Quad God” – a name given by fans – can improve his world ranking as he takes the blocks next at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, California, on April 6-7.
