Pennsylvania Duck replied to widgeon's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ducks crack ESPN's way-too-early women's basketball top 25 for next season ESPN released its first look at a 2023-24 top 25 shortly after the conclusion of Sunday's national title game. The Ducks are included among the 25 best program for next season, coming at No. 18, and projected to make a return to the Big Dance as well. As things stand currently, four of five starters from last year's team, which finished 20-15, are slated to return next season. Gray, VanSlooten and Paopao are former five-star recruits who averaged in double-figures this past season, while center Phillipina Kyei grabbed the third most rebounds in school history and was second among Pac-12 players. The Ducks also bring back freshman center Kennedy Basham, and had Sammie Wagner on the roster for a redshirt season for the final three months of the season. The team is set to add three more recruits in four-star preps Sofia Bell from Portland, Sarah Rambus from Flint (Mich.) and local junior college guard Bella Hamel. Oregon WR Commit Jordan Anderson Set for Important Return Trip to Eugene Jordan Anderson committed to Oregon in December but continues to hear from a handful of programs. We already knew the spring game visitor list was going to be impressive and the Ducks added a big name to that list on Sunday, as four-star Oregon wide receiver commit Jordan Anderson announced a return visit to Eugene. Anderson has been on fire this offseason, competing in 7on7 tournaments and dominating the camp circuit. Just last month he was named the Alpha Dog of the the OT7 Tournament in Austin by 247Sports and took home wide receiver MVP honors at the Rivals camp in Los Angeles. It's no surprise that Anderson is dominating everyone who lines up up in front of him, but his stellar performances have captured the attention of other schools, with Colorado, USC and Washington among schools still actively recruiting him. Read more about what Jordan Anderson has to say about his recruitment in Ducks Digest. -
The Ducks Wire article referenced in the title is actually in response to a Jon Wilner article that was posted last week. In the Wilner article, he ranked the Pac-12 schools according to which schools are making the most of the dollars spent in the athletic department. I have reposted the article below for your reference in the event you didn't read it. It makes most sense to read Wilner's article first, then the one from Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire. Jon Wilner's Pac-12 athletic department power ratings: Which schools are making the most of the dollars spent? Pac-12 athletic department power ratings: Which schools are making the most of the dollars spent? SPORTS360AZ.COM <p>Welcome to the Hotline’s inaugural Pac-12 athletic department power ratings, in which we assess performance in football and... For the most part, Duck fans should be incredibly proud of the teams they cheer on yearly. Consistently, they have a football team that ranks among the top 10-15 teams in the nation, sometimes better; they have a pair of basketball programs that have made multiple deep trips in the NCAA Tournament; they also have really solid baseball and softball program, and the track and field program is consistently among the best in the nation. Behind all of that are Nike and Uncle Phil Knight, who are inarguably among the best donors in the world of college athletics. So with all of that in mind, you would think that the Ducks have one of the top athletic departments in the Pac-12 if not the nation, right? Well, depending on how you look at things, that may not be the answer. Read on in the article for Zachary Neel's take on Oregon's ranking...Are you in agreement? Ellie Garcia throws 2-hit shutout as Oregon State softball snaps 7-game losing streak to No. 18 Oregon Though Oregon won a Pac-12 series for the first time this season, dropping the finale to last-place Oregon State will damage its RPI (13) and could potentially cost the Ducks the chance to host an NCAA Regional. It was UO’s first loss outside the RPI top 50 this season. “We need to be able to execute; we didn’t execute today,” Lombardi said. “I think we’re much better than what we showed. I thought OSU played a tough game, they came out ready to play and they did what they needed to do to get it done. I think for us, we didn’t do enough. “Every game you’ve got to go out and play and be ready to play and win. Anybody in this league can beat anybody on any given day. You’ve got to be able to show up and get it done every time you step out on the field and I think we didn’t do that today.” Ellie Garcia throws 2-hit shutout as Oregon State softball snaps 7-game losing streak to No. 18 Oregon WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Garcia struck out four and hit a batter over 7.0 innings, most impressively inducing nine flyouts against an Oregon lineup that...
