Pac-12 Oregon's Coverage of Men's Basketball
Pennsylvania Duck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Roster Outlook: How Dana Altman's squad could shape up for 2023-24 season The Ducks have 13 scholarships to work with in 2023-24. A few of those already belong to players who have announced that they will return to Eugene for another year, and a handful of others will go to the three high school recruits who have signed with the Ducks in the 2023 class, with potentially a fourth being reserved for another addition. The rest will be given to “players who want to be here,” as Altman said in a legendarily revealing press conference that he gave on Tuesday night. So with all of that in mind, what will the Ducks’ roster look like at the start of next season? It’s far too early to know for sure, but here’s our best guess on how things will shape out, and which players decide to do what. ‘We’re not good enough’: Dana Altman, Oregon men’s basketball enter offseason knowing changes necessary to get back to NCAA Tournament After back-to-back seasons ending in the NIT, Oregon enters the offseason needing to make significant changes in order to return to being an NCAA Tournament team and in contention to win the Pac-12 in 2023-24. The Ducks will have guard Jermaine Couisnard and center Nate Bittle back, guard Keeshawn Barthelemy likely returning and junior college transfer Jadrian Tracey and top 40 signees Kwame Evans Jr., Mookie Cook and Jackson Shelstad. As many as eight other players are eligible to return, including starters N’Faly Dante and Rivaldo Soares, but there are 13 scholarship spots, so departures are expected. Oregon must improve at three-point shooting and free throws after going 32% from behind the arc and 69.5% at the line this season. It was the second lowest three-point shooting season in program history (31.2%, 1999-2000) and one of the worst ever by an Altman team, narrowly ahead of his 1995-96 Creighton team (31.4%). Bill Oram: If Dana Altman wants fans in the stands, he has to give them a reason to show up It was the inattention to detail, the missed free throws, the lazy defense that led to the game-winning, season-ending three-pointer. Dana Altman was mad about all of it. And rightly so. An unspectacular Oregon Ducks men’s basketball season ended in spectacularly sloppy fashion Tuesday. But what Altman can’t be mad about, not really, is the fact that so few people were there to witness his team’s season end with a 61-58 NIT quarterfinal loss to Wisconsin. Pac-12 Oregon's Coverage of Men's Basketball

Oregon basketball's roster status going into critical offseason Oregon's basketball season is over and the Ducks finished the year with a 21-15 overall record. It was a season that saw some high points with blowout wins at home against NCAA Tournament teams Arizona and USC, bad home losses to UC Irvine, Utah Valley, and Arizona State, and a year riddled with injuries that saw just 13 of Oregon's 36 total games have a fully healthy roster. So what does Oregon's roster look like going into the offseason? “We will evaluate all of the guys individually," said Dana Altman. "We have guys that want to be here. We got to make some changes. We were not good enough. We’re not coaching well enough, players aren’t good enough. We’re just not good enough, and we gotta get better. So if that means changing personnel if that means getting in the gym more. But we’re not good enough." Oregon looks for new lineup to continue to 'click' against Northwestern State With the return of prolific hitters in Tanner Smith and Drew Cowley on top of a top-five recruiting class, it has taken time for the Ducks to get their offense in check. Lineup changes stole the show for the last two weeks, as every regular starter had been moved at least once. Some were significant like Rikuu Nishida sliding from first to ninth or Owen Diodati entirely out of the lineup for all three games in the Washington State series. But, a combination seemed to have cracked some code on Saturday and Sunday against the Cougars, as the Ducks scored 27 runs combined. In those two games, Oregon put up nine extra-base hits, five home runs, 33 total hits, and 12 walks. Oregon Football 2024 Recruiting Hot Board: Wide Receiver Wide receiver is fun to watch again for Oregon football fans now that the days of a Mario Cristobal ground-and-pound offense are long gone. Troy Franklin made his case as one of the best wide receivers in college football with a breakout season for the Ducks in 2022. Now Junior Adams is working to add more elite talent to his room in the 2024 class after adding four talented wideouts in the 2023 cycle. Transfers Traeshon Holden and Tez Johnson are enrolled and 2023 signee Ashton Cozart is going through spring practice. Jurrion Dickey is expected to join the team in the summer. Today we're taking a look at some of the other names to know for Oregon recruiting at wide receiver. *Note*: Oregon already has two wide receiver commitments in the 2024 class in Jordan Anderson and Tyseer Denmark. Take a look at some other 2024 WR recruits the Ducks may show interest in. Read the article in Ducks Digest.
