  1. Dane Miller’s 2023 Pac-12 NIT Quarterfinal Preview The NIT enters its Quarterfinal stage with one Pac-12 team left standing. The Ducks have been reborn in the postseason tournament in large part due to their role players successfully transitioning to increased roles. The newfound momentum is a positive sign heading into next season, yet a championship remains up for grabs this year. I preview Oregon’s mathcup with Wisconsin here and my pick, along with that of Stephen Vilardo, appears at the bottom. 3. LIVE UPDATES: Oregon hosts Wisconsin in NIT Quarterfinal Tilt The Oregon Duck men's basketball program will play its final home game of the season no matter the outcome Tuesday evening. A win in the NIT Quarterfinals against an opponent that doesn't head west all that often will send the Ducks to Las Vegas for a semifinal appearance. A loss will end the Oregon Ducks' season. Oregon enters Tuesday night's contest as a slight 4.5-point favorite over the Badgers. A win and the Ducks will get six days off before they'd play their next game, and that'd be in Las Vegas in the semifinals of the NIT. 4. Game Preview: Size could be issue for Ducks in NIT quarterfinal vs. Wisconsin The Oregon Ducks have managed to make their way through the first two rounds of the National Invitation Tournament without the services of their big-man N’Faly Dante, the team’s leading scorer, leading rebounder, and leading shot-blocker. Going into the quarterfinals against the Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday night, his potential absence might have a bigger impact, though. The Badgers are big, and led by their best player Steve Crowl, a 7-foot big-man who has the ability to dominate inside. N’Faly Dante’s status will be a major factor.
  5. Alex Forsyth NFL Draft 2023: Scouting Report for Oregon IOL Alex Forsyth is a three-year starter inside Oregon's multiple run game. He made 28 starts at center and spent time as a reserve at both guard spots and right tackle. He's a renowned teammate and leader inside the locker room with excellent football character. Physically, he has a lean, narrow build with solid movement skills and middling raw power. Forsyth wins with efficiency in his footwork and use of hands as a run- and pass-blocker. In the run game, he gets into his fits with sound hat and hand placement on combination and back blocks to create quick leverage on defenders. 6. Christian Gonzalez lands with new team in Mel Kiper's Mock Draft 3.0 Kiper has the Las Vegas Raiders grabbing Gonzalez with the No. 8 pick in the draft. In this scenario, the Raiders don’t get any of the top four quarterbacks, forcing them to go with the best prospect available. The player who can most help them win in 2023 is Gonzalez, who ran a blazing 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the combine, backing up what I saw on his 2022 tape. At 6-foot-1, he has outstanding ball skills and elite recovery speed. This is a clear need area for Las Vegas. 8. Indiana's second-round loss leaves Big Ten down to one team in 2023 NCAA Tournament, sparks media scrutiny BIG TEN DROPPING LIKE FLIES: There's an element of randomness to the NCAA Tournament that cannot be denied, so judge a conference based off March Madness at your own discretion. But when a league sends eight teams to the NCAAs and only one makes it past the second round, it's pretty clear that you're not the top dog in the country, even if you have the history on the court. At least the Big Ten has football going for it this school year, as it was the only conference with multiple schools in the playoff. But even that was a bit of a bust, with Ohio State and Michigan — the latter a healthy favorite against TCU — failing to advance past the semifinals. 10. Oregon Women’s Basketball Advances To Super 16 Fans feasted on a serving of hot Ducks over cold Rice. Up to the half, the Ducks had let a far less talented team than Oregon stay with them. That ended going into the third quarter. The Ducks came out of the break playing much more physically then they had in the first half. Grace VanSlooten especially looked like a different player and took ownership of the second half. The physical play rattled the Owls’ cages, and the Ducks began to distance themselves from Rice starting with a 16-2 run to end the third and put Oregon up 57-40. The Ducks only allowed nine points in the third period. The energy and speed of offense and defense continued in the fourth, as Oregon did a fine job of keeping pressure on the Owls and finding baskets. In the fourth, the Ducks picked up some help from the bench as well. Oregon Women’s Basketball Advances To Super 16 WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM Fans feasted on a serving of hot Ducks over cold Rice
  11. Oregon Ducks close to matching best NIT run in school history Nobody is going to say that NIT success rivals the excitement and thrill of March Madness. That doesn’t mean that succeeding in the NIT means nothing, though. If the Ducks can find a way to notch one more victory and get into the final four down in Las Vegas, it will be quite the feat considering the players that they have in sweats on the sidelines. However, how will that potential result compare to some of the best NIT runs that the Ducks have made over the years? That’s a question that I wanted an answer to. Looking back through the history books, Oregon has made 12 trips to the NIT before this season. Here’s how those past appearances ended up. 13. Second-Half Surge Fuels Second-Round Win Up three at halftime, the Oregon women's basketball team broke open Monday's second-round WNIT game in the third quarter, on the way to a 78-53 victory over Rice before 2,591 fans in Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks (19-14) were up 41-38 early in the third before closing out the quarter on a 16-2 run, including nine points from freshman Grace VanSlooten. She scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half, helping the UO women follow up Friday's first-round blowout of North Dakota State with another comfortable win Monday. "At halftime Kelly (Graves) came in and just said we need to turn this around," VanSlooten said. "He knew we looked like a different team than we had (Friday), and we all knew that too. So I think we went out there and really picked up our defense, and that obviously leads to our offense." 14. Ducks use big second half to dispatch Rice in WNIT second round Twenty minutes of subpar basketball left the Matthew Knight Arena faithful clamoring, as the Ducks clung to a three-point halftime edge. The second 20 were much more satisfying for the 2,591 in attendance with the Ducks winning that half by 22 points as they blew the doors off Rice 78-53 en route to a second round WNIT victory. What was the difference? Defensive intensity. After forcing just one turnover in the first 20 minutes, Oregon opened the second half with full court pressure and promptly forced six third quarter turnovers with a few more in the fourth frame. 15. WBB recap: Ducks pressure Rice into turnovers and advance in WNIT When the Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team decides to turn up the defensive pressure, not many teams can handle it. Rice proved it was incapable of handling the Duck press in the third quarter and what was a close game turned into a rout. Oregon advanced to the WNIT third round with the 78-53 win over the Owls. A 23-9 third quarter turned a good game into the blowout. The Ducks had three players in double figures and center Phillipina Kyei just missed a triple-double in points, rebounds and blocks. She was dominating inside the paint and Rice never found an answer for the 6-foot-8 Kyei.
