  2. Altman: Mookie Cook out this week following injury against Utah

The Oregon Ducks’ 4-star freshman wing Mookie Cook will not play this week against the Arizona schools. Per head coach Dana Altman, Cook tweaked his foot against Utah which will keep him off the court.

Oregon’s game against Utah was just Cook’s fifth game as a Duck. Before the season began, Cook needed ankle surgery, and his recovery sidelined him for the first two months of the season.

Cook made his debut on the road against the Washington Huskies, where he shot 2/3 from the field in just six minutes.

In his next four games at Oregon, Cook still didn’t play much.

His surgery recovery and lack of conditioning played a role in his minutes limitation, but he may have seen his playing time increase in the next few games if not for his injury...

  3. Bear Tenney Previews Oregon Visit

Oregon is set to host its first of two junior days this weekend and one of their most intriguing visitors will be 2025 Lehi (Ut.) tight end Bear Tenney. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder holds 37 reported scholarship offers and previewed the trip with Ducks Digest.

What's drawing him back out to Eugene for another trip?

"I really just like their offensive scheme. Just the way they use their tight ends," Tenney said. "I've been a fan of them since I was like seven years old, so it'd be a dream for me to play for my dream school. I've got a really good relationship with Coach Dan Lanning and Drew Mehringer. I talk to them a lot, so I've got really high interest in them and it's just close to home."

This weekend's visit could be a pivotal one for Tenney, who spoke about his timeline for a decision.

"I would say if it feels right. Even if it feels right when I visit Oregon this weekend."

Not only does Tenney like how Oregon uses its tight ends, but Dan Lanning's message that he's not going anywhere resonates with the Utah prospect...

Ducks safety Evan Williams accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl on Monday.

He will be the 48th Oregon player to appear at the Senior Bowl and join quarterback Bo Nix, center Jackson Powers-Johnson, defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus and cornerback Khyree Jackson at this year’s game on Feb. 3 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala...

The NFL playoffs and college football offseason are in full swing, meaning the mock draft season is taking center stage at the height of draft preparations.

As players prepare to descend to Mobile, Alabama, for the Reese's Senior Bowl, including five Ducks, draft preparation continues and will be the rage leading up to the Super Bowl and beyond.

  7. Oregon signings and targets see plenty of movement in final 247Sports Rankings Update

Among Oregon's greatest recruiting class in school history, 14 2024 Oregon commits were included in the final Top 247 Rankings by 247Sports.

The final rankings were released Monday evening as part of our Ranking Update show on YouTube. Oregon saw a prospect jump nearly 100 spots in the rankings while another prospect dropped nearly 100 spots, plus there was movement everywhere in between.

"I think, you know, ultimately, everyone has seen you know what Oregon is and what it can be here. I think the move to the Big 10 gave everyone a clear vision about where we're headed as well," Dan Lanning said on National Signing Day.

So it's a premier conference in college football, us getting to be a part of that and build and enhance that conference was something that was really important. I think to the guys that we brought in this class and our coaching staff as well."

Here is a recap of where Oregon checks in for the final rankings...

  10. Five Pro Ducks set to play in NFL conference championship

Championship weekend has been set in the NFL, and the Oregon Ducks are well-represented.

Over the weekend, the Divisional Round in the NFL Playoffs took place, sending the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs on to the next round.

The Chiefs are the only remaining team without a pro Oregon Duck on the roster, which guarantees that a former Oregon Alum will appear in the Super Bowl.

The team with the most former Ducks is the 49ers, who have players like Arik Armstead, Deommodore Lenoir, and Terrance Mitchell playing big roles.

The Detroit Lions are anchored on the right side of the offensive line by Oregon great Penei Sewell, and the Ravens have former Oregon OT Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu on the roster.

  11. Bucky Irving ranked as the No. 4 RB heading into 2024 NFL Draft

Former Oregon running back Bucky Irving put together two outstanding seasons as the Ducks' primary ball carrier, posting over 1,000 yards on the ground after his transfer from Minnesota.

Irving, a former four-star recruit, saw his profile emerge as one of the best backs in the country in his first year with offensive coordinator and now Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, using him and Noah Whittington out of the backfield as pass catchers and traditional running backs.

In 2022, Irving ran for 1,058 yards with five touchdowns, adding 299 yards on 31 receptions and three more touchdowns courtesy of Bo Nix's passes. Irving finished the year with an All-Pac-12 honorable mention and finished third in the program's history for yards per carry, averaging 6.78...

The same shortcomings that have hampered Oregon all season appeared again on Sunday.

The Ducks once again turned the ball over 20 times, allowed over 20 offensive rebounds, and this time let an early lead dwindle as they fell to the California Golden Bears, 66-57.

  15. Bucky Irving ranked among best RBs in 2024 NFL Draft

For the 2024 NFL draft, it figures to be a fairly strong year for running backs with the likes of Michigan’s Blake Corum, and Florida State’s Trey Benson — a former Oregon Duck — leading the way.

Among the loaded group is Oregon’s own Bucky Irving, who dramatically helped his draft stock by staying in Eugene for the 2023 season.

He was pretty good at Minnesota for the first of his college career, but once Irving stepped on the field as a Duck, his career went upward.

  17. Updated Top-25 Rankings: Ducks rise, Washington plummets after coaching carousel madness

Well over a month ago, I released my prediction for what the top-25 rankings in the college football world would look like this offseason, giving a view of the power balance in the nation based on which teams saw the highest number of starters returning, and the biggest boosts via the transfer portal.

We’ve seen highly impactful transfers make their commitments, and legendary coaches depart their schools, causing other coaches to pick up and leave in a haste, laying waste to some of the most talented rosters across the nation in an apocalyptic domino effect.

While I was definitely early on my top 25 predictions, even the ‘Way-too-early Top 25’ that ESPN puts out every year after the national championship game feels incredibly out of date at this point.

It feels like everything needs to be updated with the knowledge that we now have. It should be worth noting that the Washington Huskies, who were ranked No. 16 in my first top-25, have completely dropped out of the rankings now that their coach has left them, and much of the roster had chosen to depart Seattle as well.

Here are my updated top-25 rankings for the 2024 season as we enter the end of January and continue to traverse the transfer portal madness and coaching changes...
