Where Ducks stand in updated 2023 National Championship betting odds There are few teams in the nation who are being talked about as much as the Oregon Ducks to start this week in the world of college football. After their 35-6 stomping over the Utah Utes in a top-15 matchup on Saturday, Dan Lanning and his team proved to the world that they are among the best teams in the nation, and a serious threat to make it to the College Football Playoff later this year. There is a lot of football left to be played between now and when the final playoff rankings are released, but the Ducks look to be headed in the right direction. They will need to win the remaining games on their schedule in order to make it to the Pac-12 Championship Game, and a potential rematch against the No. 5 Washington Huskies then stands between them and a spot in the playoff. Then comes the tests that players dream about, going up against the likes of schools like Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, or Alabama, depending on which schools ultimately get into the playoff. So what are the odds that the Ducks can get there, and ultimately win a national championship in 2023? That’s a big question. Here’s what the Las Vegas oddsmakers think the answer should be, according to BetMGM... CLASS IMPACT: Five-Star EDGE Elijah Rushing Commits to Oregon Rushing commits to Oregon and completes his flip from the Arizona Wildcats. Oregon's 2024 recruiting class jumped from No. 10 to No. 6 nationally on Monday after Dan Lanning and the Ducks picked up a commitment from five-star Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic EDGE Elijah Rushing. Rushing pledged to Oregon after de-committing from Arizona earlier this month and adds to what is shaping up to be a historic class for Dan Lanning. We're breaking this commitment down from all angles. This is a massive recruiting win for the Ducks. They never stopped recruiting Rushing after he committed to Arizona and that paid off in a big way. This was a team recruiting win in the biggest way. Tosh Lupoi, Dan Lanning and other members of the staff played a role in getting this one finished. Constant communication and interest were crucial so Rushing knew that Eugene was the place to be. Behind improved offense, Dan Lanning says Cal is 'not remotely the same team' as in the past Justin Wilcox led teams have never been mistaken as offensive juggernauts. This year's won't be either, but it has bucked the trend of the past seven he's coached. Under his leadership California had never finished in the top half of Pac-12 scoring offenses. Five of his six teams have been among the bottom three with two finishing dead last. This year's ball club currently sits in fifth place in what is widely believed to be the best offensive conference in the country with a whopping 32.3 points per game scoring average. None of his previous teams had averaged more than 27, and last year's squad was 10th in the conference at 23.9. "They're not remotely the same team we've played in the past," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said of the Golden Bear offense. "These guys are scoring a lot of points. They're extremely efficient. I think they're playing some of their best ball, especially offensively, here towards this point of a season." Wilcox brought in Jake Spavital, formerly the head coach at Texas State, this offseason to run the ship, and that decision has helped change the program's fate — at least on that side of the ball... Oregon lands 5-star edge Elijah Rushing Oregon made the most resounding statement in college football over the weekend with a dominant victory at Utah and has just followed it up with an equally loud exclamation point on the recruiting trail. Five-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing of Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic committed to the Ducks on Monday, giving coach Dan Lanning and his staff yet another cornerstone piece as they push for a dazzling finish ahead of the Early Signing Period. Rushing, the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect, was previously committed to hometown Arizona but backed off that pledge earlier this month. “The system, the defensive expertise of coach Dan Lanning and coach Tosh Lupoi, they’re good coaches and they bring that fire to the team,” Rushing told 247Sports. “You could see it on TV, coach Lanning getting in there to fire up the defense on fourth downs. That’s what defensive players look for.” By adding the 6-foot-6, 250-pound Rushing to the fold, Oregon jumped up four spots to No. 6 in the Composite team recruiting rankings for the 2024 class. The group includes 10 other Top247 members, including fellow five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland and four-star linebacker Brayden Platt.... Watch: Former Oregon Ducks’ star Dillon Brooks gets clowned, then trolled by Stephen Curry Dillon Brooks, the self-proclaimed “best perimeter defender” in the NBA, may decide to rethink that proclamation after his encounter with Stephen Curry Sunday night. Brooks was tasked with defending Curry and unfortunately for Brooks, Curry went on one of his patented 3-point flurries during the Warriors’ 106-95 win over the Houston Rockets. Curry hit four consecutive 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter, and the last one left Brooks completely confused... Oregon fans react to Ducks landing commitment from 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing When it rains, it pours, and it’s currently raining victories for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. After picking up a big-time road win over the Utah Utes on Saturday and jumping up to No. 6 in the nation, the Ducks got a massive win on the recruiting trail, landing 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing, a player who decommitted from the Arizoan Wildcats just a handful of weeks ago. Rushing is rated as the No. 14 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 2 EDGE. This is the second 5-star player that the Ducks have added in the past month, with 5-star DL Aydin Breland committing hours before the Washingon game. As you would expect, Oregon fans celebrated accordingly on Monday with the Ducks jumping up to No. 6 in the national recruiting rankings. Here are some of the best reactions on social media... Snap Count Takeaways: Major notes from Oregon's usage report vs. Utah It’s not normal that you get to see some of your depth pieces and bench players in a top-15 matchup that is expected to be the best game of the day in the college football world, but it’s quickly becoming clear that the 2023 Oregon Ducks are not a normal team. They’ve proven that they’re better than we expected them to be. In a 35-6 win over the then-ranked No. 13 Utah Utes, Dan Lanning and his team jumped out quickly and put the game away early, largely running out the clock for the final half of the game and ultimately getting some playing time for depth pieces on the team. While the starters shouldered the load early on, we got to see some young guys get valuable experience late. As we do each week, let’s take a dive into the usage report for Oregon and see what we can glean from the snap counts going forward... Report Card: Ducks reach honor roll status in blowout over Utah Let’s face it, Oregon was hoping they would play well enough to get out of Salt Lake City with a win of any kind. No one had done that in three seasons and the Ducks needed a signature road win. They got it and then some. Oregon dominated the Utes in every facet of the game in the 35-6 beating of Utah in front of a national television audience on FOX. The Duck defense held the Utes out of the end zone, a feat that hadn’t been done since 2018 and the offense set the tone at the beginning of each half with touchdowns. With the win, the Ducks moved up in both polls and Bo Nix is finally being considered as a top Heisman Trophy candidate. It was probably the best week for the program in the Dan Lanning Era and the report card is going to reflect it... Watch: Former Oregon star Kayvon Thibodeaux posts career-best performance for the New York Giants Kayvon Thibodeaux is showing why he was a first-round pick in the NFL draft. Thibodeaux is looking like he’s going to produce a monster season in 2023. The New York Giants’ linebacker and former Oregon Ducks’ star added to his sack total by posting a career-high three sacks during the Giants’ game against the New York Jets. Thibodeaux’s first sack resulted in a fumble from Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson on Sunday. Thibodeaux beat Jets’ left tackle Mekhi Becton around the left edge, chased down Wilson and stripped him of the football. Thibodeaux then produced two key sacks during one series with the Giants clinging to a 10-7 lead late in the fourth quarter. Thibodeaux posted a chase-down sack on Wilson for a 10-yard loss with 2:19 remaining. Thibodeaux posted his third sack, dropping Wilson for a 15-yard loss on a fourth-and-5 play with 1:33 remaining. Stock Report: No. 8 Ducks see nothing but risers in demolition over No. 13 Utah Over the past day, I’ve tried several times to accurately depict what the No. 8 Oregon Ducks did to the No. 13 Utah Utes in their home stadium on Saturday afternoon, but nothing will ever be as accurate or eye-opening as the way that Utah coach Kyle Whittingham described it after the game. “That’s as thoroughly and as soundly as we’ve been beaten in a long time, particularly at home,” Whittingham said. “Give Oregon credit, they are a complete football team just like I’ve been saying all week long.” Stock Report: No. 8 Ducks see nothing but risers in demolition over No. 13 Utah | Ducks Wire DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Stock Report: No. 8 Ducks see nothing but risers in demolition over No. 13 Utah

No. 8 Oregon ends No. 13 Utah's home winning streak with impressive victory Statement made. It wasn't the flashiest or most dominating win for No. 8 Oregon, but it was one of the most convincing of the season for the Ducks. Dan Lanning's team went to Salt Lake City to face No. 13 Utah and came away with the first victory for an opponent at Rice-Ecceles Stadium since 2020. The Utes' 18-game winning streak had been a feather in the cap of the team, and it came crashing down thanks to a balanced attack on both sides of the ball for the Ducks...
