Snap Count Takeaways: Major notes from Oregon's usage report vs. Washington State Saturday’s game between the Oregon Ducks and Washington State Cougars gave us an interesting look at the roster that Dan Lanning is deploying in Eugene. While we are in the middle of the season, and the depth chart is largely set, a couple of injuries gave us a look at where things stand deeper on the rotational sheet. On top of that, we finally got the debut for Oregon linebacker Jestin Jacobs, who played a big role in his first game for the Ducks. So with an eye on the usage report in Eugene, what did we ultimately learn about the Ducks in Week 8? Let’s take a look... 2024 Duck Commits (Thread No. 2)
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks

Our 1st thread for this topic has filled a page and has gotten too cumbersome to handle. So, I am starting a new thread (No.2). NJ Duck and I have never gone through a whole year cycle of postings regarding recruiting before, so this has been a learning experience. Along with the fact that Coach Lanning and his crew are such good recruiters, this thread grows quickly. We are keeping this thread to one page as advertising is most advantageous that way and needed to pay costs of site. If you need to refer back to No. 1 for reference, click here.

Oregon Continues Surging for Five-Star EDGE Elijah Rushing The Ducks have been the heavy favorite since Rushing de-committed from Arizona earlier this month. Oregon appears to be gaining more momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class. They just hosted two of their top targets for visits this weekend in elite offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and four-star edge rusher Solomon Williams. On Tuesday, the Ducks picked up two new 247Sports crystal ball predictions to land Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic five-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing. The predictions come from two of the heavyweights covering West Coast recruiting, National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman and National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggs. Both predictions were logged with a "6" or medium confidence level, and they join earlier crystal ball predictions from Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst Blair Angulo. Rushing initially committed to Arizona in July, but chose to reopen his recruitment on October 8. He was the highest-rated recruit in Arizona program history. Now the 6-foot-6, 251 pounder is the top uncommitted recruit out West in the 2024 class. He was viewed as a heavy Oregon lean prior to his commitment to Jedd Fisch and the Wildcats. Oregon commits have been chiming in to do some recruiting of their own and help the staff with the elite edge rusher. To access details in the article, click here.

5 Utah Utes Oregon needs to look out for on Saturday Not many would have thought Utah would be in this position without their starting quarterback Cam Rising. The Utes are No. 13 in the country with a 6-1 record and are coming off a big win over USC on the road. And all of this has been done by switching quarterback numerous times between Bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson, neither of whom has been spectacular, but both of whom have been serviceable. It’s been the Utah defense that has held everything together and it’s that defense that will give the Utes a good chance against Oregon this Saturday. They have one of the best defensive ends in the country as well as an opportunistic and fundamentally sound unit that gives Utah a fighting chance, no matter who is at quarterback. Currently, it looks as if Barnes has won the job after his good game at USC, but he has shown to be inconsistent at best. These are the five Utes Oregon needs to pay close attention to if the Ducks want to get out of Rice-Eccles Stadium with a win on Saturday... 5 Utah Utes Oregon needs to look out for on Saturday DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM These are the five Utes Oregon needs to play close attention to if the Ducks want to win on Saturday.

Oregon vs. Utah: Pac-12 Title Elimination Game
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning impressed by way Kyle Whittingham has managed slew of injuries this season It's not exactly breaking news to laud the caliber of coach leading Utah's football program. Ute coach Kyle Whittingham is a two-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year for a reason. His management of this year's roster has caught the attention of Oregon head coach Dan Lanning, who acknowledged the job he's done during the opening statement of Monday's press conference. "They've done a phenomenal job of utilizing their personnel," Lanning said. The two-time reigning Pac-12 champs have not been dealt an easy hand this season. Starting quarterback Cameron Rising will not play in 2023 due to a knee injury suffered in the Rose Bowl in January. Rising is one of close to a dozen Ute players ruled out for the season. "Everyone's always known that he's a great coach," Lanning said on Monday. "But the way that he's been able and his staff has been able to utilize the people they have... I know the beginning the year he spoke about the depth of his team. It's starting to really show up. He has good depth, but they're utilizing people in different ways than they anticipated when the year started and he's done a great job coaching that group. "The amount of injuries that they've dealt with and for him to be able to utilize defensive personnel on offense and shuffle positions and utilize offensive linemen at tight end, I think it's just really impressive." Lanning impressed by way Kyle Whittingham has managed slew of injuries this season 247SPORTS.COM Oregon coach Dan Lanning conveyed respect for Ute coach Kyle Whittingham and the way he's handled an injury-filled 2023 season. -

Utah Safety Sione Vaki Trending Toward Primarily Playing Offense For Utah Before the season started, there were many prognosticators who felt safety Sione Vaki could be a breakout star for Utah. They were correct, but the surprise is how that is happening. It is no secret the Utes have been banged up from the jump in 2023 and were in desperate need of a spark- particularly on offense. Utah’s coaching staff went to work doing what it does best when their backs are against a wall- identifying their best available players and moving them in positions to be difference makers. Vaki happened to be one of those players. This is the one Utah player articles have been saying the Ducks need to pay extra attention to... Jon Gold: Charmin-soft Trojans take after their coach, and it's well past time Lincoln Riley toughens up In college football, the No. 1 commodity is not size nor speed. It is not playmaking ability nor poise in the pocket. It is not a rocket arm nor thick thighs, not sticky hands nor lightning cuts. The most important trait is simple, no-nonsense toughness, intestinal fortitude, true grit. It is the ability to weather a storm and come out the better for it, even if it hurts. Even in a loss. You can see it in teams. Hell, you can smell it. It’s all over their faces when things fall apart, and in their shoulders and their chins and in their eyes. And you can see it when teams don’t have it. Even worse, when their coaches don’t hold them to that standard. This is not an indictment of Lincoln Riley as a person. I’m sure he’s a nice enough guy, and he probably treats his friends and family well. He certainly treats his players well. Too well. As a coach, Riley is Charmin soft. Ultra. Eight ply. No need to fold when the Trojans’ defense will do it for you... Five-Star OT Jordan Seaton Recaps Oregon Visit The Ducks hosted one of their top remaining targets in the 2024 class for a visit this weekend. It was another big recruiting weekend for Oregon when they faced Washington State. The headliner of the weekend was five-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, who was in town for an unofficial visit. He took some time to speak with Ducks Digest about that visit and what it meant for his recruitment. "I definitely got to put some eyes on the school and see how they operate, which was good," Seaton said. "Being able to just experience the family environment from Dan Lanning and his playing and the coaching environment was definitely good." There was one aspect of the trip that left a particularly strong impression on the elite offensive lineman. "One other thing that I like about the Oregon Ducks is basically the player relationships with the coaches. It's one of a kind. You can't find that at too many spots nowadays." To access more details from Jordan Seaton, click here.

Dan Lanning offers injury update on Khyree Jackson, Bucky Irving Two of the most important players on the Oregon Ducks’ roster, running back Bucky Irving and cornerback Khyree Jackson, missed some time on Saturday in the game against the Washington State Cougars. In the case of Jackson, the star cornerback missed the entire game after suffering an apparent shoulder injury a week earlier against the Washington Huskies. Irving went down with an undisclosed injury early in the fourth quarter but eventually returned to the field for the final drive of the game. On Monday night in his weekly press conference, head coach Dan Lanning offered a brief update on both players’ status going into this week’s game against the No. 13 Utah Utes. “I think those guys will be good to go this weekend,” Lanning said. “They were both out there at practice today.” Irving leads the team with 649 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Jackson has been the team’s No. 1 cornerback. Without Jackson, the Ducks turned to a combination of Jahlil Florence, Trikweze Bridges, Dontae Manning, and Nikko Reed last weekend...
