It bothers me that Wilcox’s name keeps being brought up. He seems like the worst hire out of all of them. I don’t want to watch cal football at Oregon.

The more I look at Lanning, the better he looks for a hire. My only concern would be, who would he hire as his offensive staff?

MC proved you need an offense to just win conferences. I want a coach that values all phases of the game.

Chip would be a slam dunk hire with the proper staff, but I don’t think he would hire the correct staff for defense and recruiting purposes.

before being hired he would new glowing references from ole miss, FAU, and Saban...
We'd also need to recognize that Kiffin probably isn't the stay and coach till he retires at oregon and will make his jump to the nfl if given a shot... so at best we get four years and we would need to set up a succession plan.
We should do this with any coach

Every USC would be entertaining. Could you imagine an after game report after kiffin beats down USC?

Quick evaluation of each head coach:
Chip Kelly: I still think he has the offensive chops. Reasons not to hire poor recruiting, and he is to loyal to his poor coaching friends. I would put him as my number one out of the six listed but don't take that as me being a proponent to hire him.
Wilcox: He has been a below average coach at cal. He got his position from one great year as DC at Wisconsin(in which he was using dave aranda's scheme and players). He promoted Sirmon to play caller as a means to help his friend even though the cal defense has tumbled since. finally he has relied on the notion that cal would be better if garbers didn't keep getting injuries but despite garbers finally finishing the season the finished 5-7
Joe brady: first he went to highschool in Florida(this is mostly a joke about hiring coaches from florida). in reality he limited coaching experience, a total of 8 years. he has absolutely zero recruiting history and he seems way to fresh to manage a team.
Bryan Harsin: just put up one of the worst seasons at Auburn in 20 years, he isn't recruiting well and frankly he is very rude. I don't expect him to last long at auburn and auburn should have to pay his buyout after firing their last coach.
Kalani Sitake: poor recruiting, while some argue that byu is a difficult school to recruit to(it is), the recruiting at byu still dropped after bronco left. and outside of this year in which BYU did well, his only other good year was last year and playing little sisters of the poor shouldn't qualify him as a good coach. this hire would infuriate me the most.
If it is me and i am trying to salvage the class(to some extent) and hire a homerun, start with Dave Aranda, make him say no to you first. He is an elite DC and has been since his time at Utah State. He seems to have a great understanding of what a head coach does and he is from redlands CA(San bernardino) so he won't be looking to leave the conference. Retain Bmac, and Joe Salave'a, DeRuyter and hire Dontae Williams back.
Coaches that hire poor coordinators needs to be a dealbreaker

look, I get the law. I don’t get what you are trying to say by bringing it up. Because it’s a pretty big insult to the coach, yeah you are the minority interview. Looking at his record I highly doubt race had anything to do with it.-

We saw this story before. Kelly's first run at Oregon was magical because the timing was PERFECT and he got easy recruiting wins because of it. Skip forward three years and you have Helfrich, who did basically everything Kelly had done but the world of College Football had changed. Helfrich's offense was even better than Kelly's! But the model of reruiting didn't change and Helfrich was sacked because he couldn't recruit.
Granted Helfrich also had some small sanctions from the Kelly era... but still.

I typically don’t watch Alabama football and the last guy who told us that we were going to be the Alabama of the west implemented a slow offense.
My initial point is I want an Oregon brand that is Oregon. We should bring in an innovator instead of copying.

True, I think this situation makes MC look a lot worse than he is. This is a perfect storm of moments that has the fan base really angry. The Utah game, Moorhead leaving, the team quitting, an offense that is watchable 2/ year, distractions all year of poaching the head coach, and now he is leaving during recruiting and before the bowl game. Yeah- it looks bad and will certainly hurt his brand.
However, if MC leaves it will because he wants to be close to family. You can’t blame a guy for wanting to do that.
However, if MC stays with a pay increase, I want a much better offense, a team that has a killer instinct on ever play, and I never ever ever want to hear that we need to play “tougher”

I am pretty angry about the prevent offense and have been for awhile now. Before yesterday my dream was for MC to fix the offense and stay.
MC is probably leaving more due wanting to be by family during a pandemic than the 8 million. He could have gotten that here. I can’t blame him for that. I also can’t blame him for not having his head in the game during Utah when his mom was sick and his OC was leaving.
what I am upset is how he is leaving the Oregon team and the destruction of the Oregon offense.

I went to the Ducks game @ the Volunteers some years ago and Tenn fans were still so pissed about Lane Kiffen. MC done us a lot dirtier than Kiffen did anyone.
I think that is harsh. If he came out and said “Covid made me realize that I need to be close to my mother and I will take Miami’s gads of money to coach there” I wouldn’t have a problem. But there has been too much drama in the last season and it really soured me on him

Oregon was in free fall when MC took over. He did turn the program around and showed that you can recruit to Oregon. So excuses of “you can’t recruit to Oregon” shouldn’t be tolerated in the future. That is invaluable information that can take our program to the next level with the right coach.-
