In today's NIL world, forgive me, but I think your criticism of this kid is a bit harsh? He is allowed to have an agent. THIS is what the agent is advising his client.

THIS is going on all across CBB and CFB. This player went public but he is far from the only CBB/CFB guy looking for a better pay-for-play deal.

Agree. I think the going public part is the big issue here, not the fact that he is looking for a better deal.

  2. They still have the second most talent in the conference right now and now they have a good coach.  They might need a year to shore up their OL and DL, but it will happen. After this upcoming season, they will be winning 10+ games consistently. Hopefully we can keep pace with them.

Jon.......why not be optimistic.......I am not trying to lock Lanning into a bad season.....if Oregon goes 10-2......that is a good season.

I just don't see anyone on their schedule except Georgia that represents a better than even chance of beating them.

Utah will be at home......and I suspect the offense will be totally different.....and don't under estimate Nix......it's going to be night and day with the skill positions loaded.

Aside from them....Oregon should be a solid favorite in every game.

Of course new systems take time to adopt......but the talent difference is appreciable.

Every tougher game is at home.

I also think Tosh is a measurable improvement with defensive coaching.

Injuries can change things......so all bets off if a few key injuries develop.

So true about injuries.  If either of our starting corners goes down, we are going to have some issues.  We are really thin there.

USC’s plan of signing all the DBs so nobody else has any is starting to work. 🤣

  4. Pretty sure scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis??

I am 100% supportive of players getting money for NIL, but this is quickly turning into pay for play, which I don’t think is good.

Wong’s blast can’t be good for team chemistry. I wonder if his teammates are supportive of his give more money or I quit attitude?

If I was a coach, I would be saying you better keep your NIL deals to yourself.  If a player decided to run with a social media blast like Wong, I would simply say to them that their scholarship will not be renewed next year. Good luck.

  5. I have to think that DAT was speeding up to try and get the angle to get a block on No 31 just before the goal line and thought that Marcus already had the other defender beat.

there were so many mistakes in that game. This is just the one that comes front and center every time. DAT probably takes too much grief for it.

This article encapsulates exactly what I said and if I was Lincoln Riley I'd be on a plane to Georgia right now to talk to both those guys about playing for the Trojans.  If the Trojans can get Amarius Mims that would be a big step in solving their offensive line issues.

No chance.  USC needs those scholarships for more DBs 😜

Regulation will come. It will come with a Super League under the umbrella of a single commissioner and with agreement among the teams and the inevitable players union that will allow for rules restricting the buying of players, the transfer of players, the number of assistant coaches a team can have, etc. It will also come with a massive media deal and yes, it will be NFL-Lite.

Yeah..agree...let's just hope Oregon continues pushing hard and ends up as part of the Super League.  If you sit on the sidelines right now, you are going to be playing Group 5 football in 5 years.

  8. Bummer!  This team will miss his energy level for sure.  That being said, Bittle fits Altman's style of play much better than Kepnang if he can make a decent jump in the offseason.  As the poster above noted, I wish Altman would have stuck with Bittle more and let him work through some things.  But I know that it is a difficult coaching decision to let a player learn lessons on the floor when you are consistently in very close games and sitting on the bubble all year.

Mistakes are amplified and one or two can cost you a shot at an NCAA tourney bid, which is exactly what happened in the early Stanford and ASU games.  I think this is why he was riding the veterans a little more this season.

What concerns me? With the B1G and the SEC becoming the Power 2

I honestly think it has already turned the corner.  The SEC and BIG have money to spend, so the talent gap with the other conferences will continue to grow as NIL deals progress.  As someone else pointed out on here a while ago, (and I agree) in 5 years or so we will see a top division break out consisting of 30 or so teams that separate from the rest of the pack. Most of the them will be BIG and SEC teams.  USC is probably the only school in the Pac-12 that is locked in being a part of that group.
